One Piece

So I have an idea for a set of possible events that I could imagine taking place:

  • Caribou reports to World Government over Den Den Mushi that Shirahoshi is the ancient weapon Poseidon, and will get rewarded for it.
  • Luffy learns of this and beats the shit out of Caribou again.
  • Since Fishman Island is Luffy's territory now, he has the right to do anything to it he wants.
  • Luffy destroys Fishman Island to force the residents out before the World Government comes in and massacres them. This saves Shirahoshi and the entirety of Fishman Island, and they all get on Noah to escape to a new home.
  • Big Mam gets pissed that Luffy destroyed Fishman Island before she did, and Luffy goes straight to Whole Cake Island to kick her ass. Enter the New World!

One Piece: A-

FUCK. LUFFY I LOVE YOU.

Shit man, nice way to include Kidd's name, it's good to know he's doing big things in the New World. Other than that, I can't wait to see how this shit gets rolling when we get off of FI.

Naruto: C-

Talk No Jutsu. Exactly as planned. That's lame.

Bleach: ????

WHAT? What? Did I miss a chapter? I mean, this shit wasn't badly done but it made no sense. Like, what? I think that we are clearly going to get some kind of explanation but as it stands this is just...wut? Who died? How did it happen? I'm sure Kubo is going to do the reverse story-telling thing here but still.

(Not sure the manga states this, but...) The anime states that Kidd, X-Drake, and Blackbeard are the big three of the New World so yeah it's been hinted about for a while now.

I had the exact same feeling. Like I was wondering if I missed the chapter where some other shit went down.

Off the top of my head the manga has only reference Blackbeard as taken over as a Yonkou basically. And then just speaking of stuff that Kidd and Drake have done in the new world but in no way saying they are a big power in the new world as yet.

I could be wrong though.

Hunter X Hunter: B

This was sort of anticlimactic, but fine none the less. Togashi sure is in love with this political business. I couldn't care less about it all. I want to see where Leorio fits in and where he will come out of it but other than that...yeah no. And what about Ging?

Anyways, the Killua and Alluka stuff was interesting, but no doubt Togashi is dragging out the rule shit for as long as possible to keep our interest. I wouldn't be surprised if there is ONE EXTRA SECRET rule besides the one Killua is also holding onto. The possibilities are limitless. So healing Gon will have no repercussions? Nice.

I'm still tripping over that Bleach chapter...where is my awesome Tsukishima/Ginjou flashback? Smh.

You guys realize the next chapter will mark the longest HxH has ever gone with no breaks (since it began serialization)? That's pretty crazy.

HxH: Looks like the Illumi was truly only concerned about Killua's safety... in a seriously fucked up way of course. I'm really curious about what this 5th rule is that Killua is keeping hidden, it has to be pretty bad since he thinks Illumi will needle-plant him again if he finds out.

And about Hisoka, I'm very confused about his motives regarding the election. What does he have to gain by killing Teradain? Hisoka himself has shown that he almost no interest in the Hunter organization or the election (besides maybe fighting the Zodiac), so why did he bother killing Teradian? He's seriously so hard to figure out sometimes.
He threatened to reveal identities and abilities. I don't see how he's not a target to Hisoka.

You know once I think about it I heard Bleach was supposed to have a colorspread this week, but it turns out it didn't.

I'm starting to seriously think Kubo skipped a chapter ahead

Hunter X Hunter 330:

As I figured, Leorio now has an even greater shot at becoming the next Chairman with all the Hunter deaths. If he actually does become Chairman it's going to be pretty damn interesting to see what someone with a "softer" personality does to the Hunter Association.

Most people in this thread reading Hunter X Hunter now never experienced the hiatuses. Regardless I'm excited, at the very least this means we're getting 10 more chapters.

Same, was saying to myself ""I'm sure I read Bleach last week!"

This right here.

I completely missed this, dayumn. Awesome design.
I am so addicted to tea

Naruto : That was a nice chapter. Goku is pretty cool, and kyuubi is actually getting some development instead of "Grr im evil grr". Maybe he can be badass again. I actually don't mind the TnJ because this time it's done decently. I never believed Kyuubi was seriously evil, it seems to me he's just angry because he's constantly being controlled by humans. I'd be pretty angry too.

maybe if people started treating the bijuu like equals instead of pets or tools they wouldn't be so dangerous. hachibi was just as bad as the kyuubi and became tamed.

one piece : Luffy you look kinda cool declaring war on a yonkou.

Bleach : this arc managed to be worse then the last. What relevance did this have? I quit.

Bleach

Yep this was complete and utter shit. It's all stupid, Aizen 3 behavior is laughable, and that boots girl is alive for some reason

What a terrible conclusion to a mediocre arc.

Naruto
Finally seeing the beasts' relationships with their hosts and one another being fleshed out is extremely welcome. It's really giving the manga some new life, which is a major far cry from the extremely sluggish and uninteresting start of this war.

I'm worried about Kakashi and Gai being able to hold their own against the several other tailed beasts though, especially since Kakashi's already blurted his "oh noes my chakara" line.

I'm predicting Naruto will break Kurama's seal as the final demonstration of trust, and the start of the Naruto/Kurama duo, can't wait.

One Piece

One thing that stuck out to me with Big Mom is the art/design of her is very unlike anything else Oda has ever done. It's closer to Miura's stuff in Berserk and very creepy/unsettling.

Very cool.

Naruto

I don't know how to feel about the personification of these beasts. I guess it was a logical step, it's just so late in the game. Oh well.

The fight scene in the beginning with Kakashi was still good

I still say it's not over yet, and that there's more to be explained in this arc. But if you're right, I echo your sentiments that it was a terrible conclusion to an indeed mediocre arc.

One Piece

Yep, Luffy is still the best character. Big Mom design was obviously going to be ugly, but didn't think Oda will go for creepy as well.

Even if it's not over, it's just a terrible chapter overall, especially with the way Aizen 3 was behaving.

I don't like how Oda is moving towards more monstrous characters in general - compared to, say, Water 7 when everybody had human proportions. However, Big Mom seems genuinely new and creepy.

Erm Fukuro?

He wasn't as crazy looking as Big Mam, but she is a Yonkou after all.

If Big Mam is this fucked up I can't wait to see Kaido

Also am I the only one who is expecting major pirate characters to be invited to Big Mam's tea party?

Bleach was horrible. While One piece was incredible. All's right with the world. Still doesn't stop me from crying though.

I can see that, but it also all feels a touch Miyazaki/Ghibli with long-legged moustache man and Big Mama resembling characters from Spirited Away quite a bit.

I love that Oda has 'phases' for his arcs and their creative basis such as Thriller and Nightmare Before Christmas pervading Thriller Bark, The Rocky Horror Show getting mixed into Impel Down and many other such examples. It keeps One Piece feeling fresher than the competition by a large margin.

Actually, it reminds me very much of the Witch from Spirited Away/Ghibli Productions... I think it is a nod in that direction at least

I hope Kaido has some creepy or broken devil fruit like the admirals.

I don't think anyone going to beat Big Mam when it comes to creepy, she eating a crew member \person is as creepy as you can get lol.
For Kaido i don't know what to make of him when it comes to how he looks but i hope he crazy looking.

Well we know he is one crazy motherfucker for what he has done in the past. I just hope he has a crazy power to go along with it.

Didn't you read Dresden's poison pill though? I may have campaigned Minamoto-kun but dat other manga is on a whole other level...

You mean itokoi chidori? Yea its pretty crazy (especially the last bunch of chapters) :D

You are reading the aunt manga? Hooray

HxH

meh chapter. I wanted Killua to fight or something. And then there is still the elections result which has got to be the most boring plot lines in a shounen manga ever

Not yet but i'm gonna check it out soon.

After reading the latest One Piece, I'm so glad I stay far clear of the anime. Luffy has a tough manly (with a tinch of airheaded) voice when I read OP, can't imagine how any of those lines would sound with feminine voice.

Anyways, I hope Magellen makes an appearance again during the next arc.

I could never tell that from his voice. I always thought his was one of the best fits I imagined for Luffy in the major anime.

Luffy sounds okay in the anime to tell the truth , he don't sound feminine when he saying his kick ass lines.

Well Oda has a say when it comes to voice actors so the way how they sound is the way how Oda would most likely like them to sound\speak .

Now that I can highlight spoiler tags...

One Piece 651:

No i got that part its just that you seemed down on the whole fight itself happening.

Plus in a way the text in bold is what she seemingly wanted to do until her henchmen talked some sense into her.

plus i'm just like to troll you :)

I wasn't down on the fight itself, vs many people in the thread wanting Big Mom to show up right as the Fishman Island arc was ending, among other things. I know some of the blame goes to Hodi being a horrible villain, but IMO the War Arc has screwed up the whole fan base's expectations. Now it looks like every arc people are going to want "info dumps" and big time marines/major characters showing up to fight Luffy. One Piece shouldn't need "Kuma/etc.." appearances every arc for it to be entertaining.

Why is everyone saying this arc sucked, glad it's over? Where did it say it was over? Tsukishima is alive still and so is Riruka and I dunno.. This chapter made no sense so I don't know what to think.

On the other hand, Naruto had one of the best chapters in a really long time, I loved it! Kurama and Son Goku lol so awesome.

Well Aizen 2 is dead so there isn't that much left to drag down the arc. Beside, Aizen 3 is pussying out now and Riruka won't do shit.
