Oh Ice Train.

Someone who does his bidding of his lady cohort? Kanes already back

Look at "it begins" and the rest, talking about rebirth and his return

Two superstars use children's narration in promos, Sting and Taker. Sting used itin debut of Crow Sting, Taker in American Badass Taker promo teaser.

It could also be the big man himself, Think about it! Cena having doubts, Punk and co. As Champions? Things are turning around and the end begins? The end of the PG Era, Mattel shit is done.

Meltzer is saying on Observer Live that McMahon realizes that he was going overboard with the Michael Cole stuff after the bad main event rating last week and that is why he was toned down so much last night compared to usual. Also, if you look at the layout of the show, they put Cena back in the big segments at the 10pm hr and 11pm hr. Daniel Bryan was pretty much non existant on the show, Ryder seems to have been dropped down a notch into an angle with Eve, and Punk didn't even get the main event segment.

It won't matter...if a talent like Brodus Clay was hyped to be on tv 3 months ago and still hasn't shown up. I don't expect the big guy to show up on Raw until the last Raw before Summerslam.

Cole's been toned down on some shows only to come back with a vengeance the week after. I believe this when 3 months from now Cole is strictly a play by play guy.

This is the third time I've tried writing this post and hopefully the last. Every time I start I close the tab due to sheer disgust at Net_Wrecker's behavior last night. I'm THIS close to putting you on ignore, that's as PG as I can get. The difference between you and me is that I actually criticize the hell out of WWE and various wrestlers and gimmicks and decisions they make. You on the other hand are a fraud and a gimmick. You've embraced this role as a "heel" in our forum thread and ran with it vying for attention and criticizing everything WWE-related. Whenever you dish out praise it's veiled and slight with caveats all over the place, not genuine. This is all in an attempt to keep up with your role and garner attention, it's fake.

Calling Kane's promo last night "terrible" over and over again was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I'm done with you. I'm really done. I'm not going to put you on the ignore because that's a defeatist attitude, but I will not acknowledge you anymore. That's it, I'm done. I also take back my Merry Christmas to you from Sunday.

As for this RAW, honestly one of the best of the year and the sold out crowd of 14,000 strong at Chicago helped a lot. Going segment by segment here's how I saw it:

* Opening promo with Laurinaitis was awesome. Johnny Ace was already in my Fave 5 but is now nearing the top. From not caring one bit about him to being glued to the screen anytime he's on is a testament to the writers and Johnny himself. It was a slow evolution and it's still on-going, I love it. Went from no personality whatsoever with no smiles no jokes no nothing and he slowly becoming a really good on-screen character. The tipping point was the hilarious FE'ing of Morrison a few weeks ago as looked and pointed at the camera.

* Johnny actually outshined Punk in this promo. What the hell was that bit about aliens? Made no sense at all and wasn't funny or witty or insulting or anything, the crowd didn't care either. Bad promo from Punk. He probably winged half of it and just came up short.

* The Booker/Cody match went on too long and I found myself fast-forwarding it regularly (I watched RAW this morning). We'll probably see like a 400k drop in viewers for that match. Booker is just lame and it doesn't feel right with him being in the ring. I don't get the result either but I find it hard to care in the first place. Why is a god-tier wrassler like Cody feuding with this bum? Most likely it's filler till they start up a real feud with a current star in the coming months.

* The Eve/Ryder vs. Kidd/Nat match was just whatever. There's going to be a divas match every RAW and Smackdown and it's going to be barely interesting every time. That's just the way it is and we'll have to accept it. I'm fine with it... the Divas work hard and women deserve to be in the business so I'm not gonna sit here and hate on it. Same deal with the WNBA and women's collegiate sports. It is what it is.

* ZOOKEEPAH's return was EPIC! The Cena/Miz match reactions started on page 219 and it was awesome reading how everyone was bored and complaining to marking out to Truth, just beautiful. I was right there with you. I like how he's sort of in the middle between a face and heel as well. The water bottle spot had me marking the fuck out and just laughing my ass off, awesome. Truth's beatdowns are always kinda stiff looking aren't they? That one in England he did to Morrison to turn heel was brutal. This one with Miz was great too, it feels like a legit brawl when he's doing his thing. Loved every second of it and it was one of the best parts of the show.

* I couldn't believe what I was reading during Del Rio's wheelchair promo. Why am I the only one who really liked it? No "destiny" BS, they actually mentioned the real injury (groin tear) and didn't make it out to be an "ankle" or whatever, he was good with the crowd, Ricardo looked hilarious, the gold wheelchair was a nice touch, the Bellas coming out and looking like the hottest things on the planet was great, I just really liked the promo. Don't get the hate at all.

* Punk gauntlet matches were fine, nothing special. He was selling the knee injury a lot so his bout with Ziggler was just focusing on that rather than any cool spots. Ziggler winning was kind of a surprise and I'm definitely happy about that.

* But people saying that the show should've ended with the Ziggler win are completely out of touch. Thank god the WWE doesn't listen to you mar--I won't say it! It's just a dumb idea, sorry. Ziggler isn't over enough yet to have him end RAW. You'd have to be completely out of touch to not realize that. Please stop being such Internet smarks and look at the big picture.

* Now on to Kane and Cena, WOWOWOW at that Kane promo and the hinting at Cena's heel turn. It was beautiful, not a single botched line from Kane. The dragging of words did start to get a little tiresome near the end but 90% of it was awesome. It didn't go too overboard with the philosophical stuff, which is good for the little jimmies that watch, but enough so for us 'hardcore' fans. It was great, he was passionate, he was relevant, one of the best promos of the year. And the ending with the chants was epic.

Kane cutting the best promo of 2011.
Thank you.
Kane is so awesome.
Thank you.
I love the last shot, Cena looking sad, nothing get a world in, the CENA SUCKS chants going on even after the logo shows up

That was great
^ VIEWTIFUL GETS IT. Jesus, how blind are you guys to direction and acting ? It was PERFECT end with the chants going on (timed perfectly and the crowd ate it up) and the fade to black with Cena looking sad. Holy fucking shit, I'm starting to get mad. THAT'S HOW YOU END RAW, not fucking Ziggler or Daniel Bryan or whatever the current flavor of the month is for the Internet smarks. Jesus. Learn something about acting, directing, finishing scenes, and so on.

Kane cutting the best promo of 2011.
One of the best after Punk's legendary "shoot", yeah, easily top 5.

Well, those were my thoughts for RAW if anyone cared (probably not but idc I like talking about wrasslin even if it is to myself).

holy shit @ Heavy's post

The Net Wrecker/Heavy main event at the Royal Rumble is gonna be so HYPE, let me tell ya

This is the third time I've tried writing this post and hopefully the last. Every time I start I close the tab due to sheer disgust at Net_Wrecker's behavior last night. At some point you guys are just going to have to get over that not everyone is either a troll or a mark. How about, they've just got a different opinion? You don't have to like it, or respond to it, or even read it. Just accept that, given the prior evidence, they probably aren't going to like the same things as you.

For what it's worth, I haven't read the RAW reactions from last night, but I didn't see anything wrong with Kane's promo other than it went on too long for my liking. Also, the crowd weren't shouting that stupid fucking "WHAT" in every sentence break, but I don't know if that means they were compelled into silence by the promo, or couldn't even muster up the energy to mock it.

Heavy, why do you take this stuff so seriously? :lol

Kane's promo was terrible IMO, especially to close the show with. If Kane had come out and said all that crap when Cena called him out, I'm sure I would've forgotten about it by now, but to close the show with that rambling monologue and Kane attempting to sound so much deeper than he really is was so bad. Like what you like, and I'll like what I like. It's about to be 2012, and I don't give 2 shits about Kane.

Gotdamn, I'm arguin about KANE right now? smh.

BTW, since you have this ridiculous idea in your head that I hate everything WWE the stuff on Raw I liked were: Johnny Ace, who's actually turned my opinion around on how I originally felt about him, Booker/Cody despite Booker winning which is kinda ridiculous, R-Truth being crazy, and ADR in the wheelchair. Do I need to announce to the thread every time I splooge my pants like you do just so my criticism is "genuine?" I don't think so, especially since there are 15 other people who will probably post those same likes. If anyone's playing up a gimmick it's you with your white knight attitude towards anyone criticizing the show. Excuse me for having different tastes and not marking out over every single positive thing that happens on a program I've been watching for 15+ years.

Brb, gonna go stick "The Psychological Analysis of John Cena By The Coward Kane" in the ballot box for promo of the decade.

Royal Rumble lost it's hype. 15 years ago, we would be getting qualifying matches for the Rumble before January. Then maybe 10 of the guys that qualified end up in a 5 on 5 tag match on Raw...then the match ends with people getting thrown over the top rope..whoever is left standing would be the favorite to win the Rumble..but that never happened.

Johnny Ace, who's actually turned my opinion around on how I originally felt about him

I think the biggest change is that Ace now actually looks comfortable behind the mic - he comes across as much more composed and you can tell he's starting to enjoy it. Everything about his promos just feels more natural, and he's starting to get good heat, as opposed to X-Pac heat.

His "Boring suit attempting to be exciting" shtick is amusing, and yeah it mostly because he's more comfortable now. Also becomes a bit more apparent since CM Punk's lost all of the edge he had in the summer so he isn't outshining Ace on the mic nearly as much anymore. And Otunga as Ace's sidekick is perfect as well. I just wish Otunga would get involved more to get some real heat as opposed to joke matches every other week.

Taker's bald head picture + he's returning + kids in the promo video + claiming his = ??????

keep rollin rollin rollin

I'm on board about ADR as well. It was good, he's great, and they need to keep him in the public eye.

And can you and Net_Wrecker just ignore each other already? heh.

I'm fucking sad that Heavy and I are on the same page about Daniel Bryan being terrible. I may have to do some of that suspension of disbelief shit that all you Kane weirdos do and try to pretend I like Bryan now.

I'm shocked that people thought that kane promo was good. I just started laughing when he tried to get a cena sucks chant.

Watched Mr. Perfect vs Kerry Von Erich earlier today and Ziggler really IS the new Hennig. At one point Kerry runs Curt headfirst into the turnbuckle and SOMEHOW he flips backwards and does a complete 180 in mid-air to land on his front. Fucking awesome overselling.

I'm fucking sad that Heavy and I are on the same page about Daniel Bryan being terrible.

No accounting for bad taste, I guess :p

A few opinions about last night's RAW ...

- Punk alien bit was lame in his promo with Ace.

- As much as I love Punk and his ability to wrestle, I didn't like the proposition of potentially having 4 Punk matches in one night. Chicago might. I don't.

- What is this fetish in the WWE to pair up and comers with potential "love" interests. Daniel Bryan and the Bellas, Gail Kim, etc. Ryder with Eve?

- Cena coming out to essentially setup Miz and Truth? Hated the fact that the promo was about Cena and Kane and Miz just buds in. Miz looked like a fool tonight. Way to go .. I wanted to hear Kane ...

- Liked that Cole's announcing as been toned down.

- Ziggler/Punk was good for what it is. Give them a 30-40 minute match. The fact that Punk was not in the main event timeslot was telling. Ziggler running around with the title looked odd. I genuinely though he forgot that this wasn't for the WWE title. I liked what he did at the top of the ramp but you could have done this at ringside and took less time. Punk did look confused.

- ADR promo was fine. Please give the bellas some acting classes.

- Kane promo was fine. Maybe 2 minutes too long. Dragged out the main point a bit but once the point was made, it was gold.

Raw was a 7.5/10 for me ..

It was also amazing that this movement with Daniel Bryan, Ryder, and Punk that started last week .. only lasted one week. Bryan got 10 seconds of air time (if that). Ryder in a mixed tag team match. Punk in a gauntlet match and booked to lose in Chicago.

Winning isn't everything...neither is...air...time...

Hey, Bryan's time to shine is on SD.

Love him or hate him, you have to respect him, like your boy John Cena. Personally, I love this war of words you two have going on. What I love most of all is that you're not threatening to PM a mod about it. Although to be honest, I'd probably laugh my ass off at that too.

As for this RAW, honestly one of the best of the year and the sold out crowd of 14,000 strong at Chicago helped a lot. Going segment by segment here's how I saw it:

I'm neutral on Laurinaitis. He's not as good as McMahon but he's better than Triple H. Sometimes though, he's glorious. Loved the entrance, I wish he would have sat indian-style in the ring.

* Johnny actually outshined Punk in this promo. What the hell was that bit about aliens? Made no sense at all and wasn't funny or witty or insulting or anything, the crowd didn't care either. Bad promo from Punk. He probably winged half of it and just came up short.
Punk had to resort to Chicago cheap pop, not nearly as much as your boy, John Cena, but yeah, Laurinaitis was funnier.

Yeah, that was boring. I was paying more attention to the commentary.

Eve is hot and the U.S. title goes back to not meaning shit.

* ZOOKEEPAH's return was EPIC! The Cena/Miz match reactions started on page 219 and it was awesome reading how everyone was bored and complaining to marking out to Truth, just beautiful. The bad thing about Christmas...
Once you open your presents,

IT'S OVER!

Don't get the hate at all.
Thought it was funny. Del Rio is good with scripted stuff but he can't hold his own improvising on the fly with Punk or anyone else. They need to recognize his strengths and weaknesses and learn from them.

* Punk gauntlet matches were fine, nothing special. He was selling the knee injury a lot so his bout with Ziggler was just focusing on that rather than any cool spots. Ziggler winning was kind of a surprise and I'm definitely happy about that.
I thought he was going to crush everyone and get to Laurinaitis so the the result surprised me. But I would have rather seen Laurinaitis wrestle for 30 seconds.

I don't think it should have ended here either but if it did, it would have built up to their match next week. Not saying Kane was any better, though. I did love Ziggler taking the title and rubbing it in Punk's face.

* Now on to Kane and Cena, WOWOWOW at that Kane promo and the hinting at Cena's heel turn. It was beautiful, not a single botched line from Kane. The dragging of words did start to get a little tiresome near the end but 90% of it was awesome. When Kane opened his mouth, I mentally tuned out. When he brought the mask back I was happy (Not nearly as much as Dream) because it reminded me of a time when he didn't talk. Or used a throat-thing whatever. Basically I don't want to hear this man speak, ever.

And why was this any better than Roddy Piper making Cena hold his ring so he can slap him? Because they were in Chicago and they thought the crowd would actually cooperate this time? Cena sucked them off with enough Chicago cheap pop to make Mick Foley Jealous earlier in the show. They still didn't give a fuck, so Kane had to talk again (Ughhhh) and try to start the chant himself, which was awful.

Why does Kane have to turn Cena Heel? Is it going to be some stupid Ministry, satanic, dark arts, Cena? (Actually, that doesn't sound that bad)

In closing, here's a racist gif(t):

Was at the Raw show last night. Worked it as a photographer for a local news outlet. Was planning on going anyway, so I thought I'd cover it.

Legit sellout with huge last minute interest (saw a ton of people turned away at the box office).

What a major difference a year makes. WWE ran a Smackdown house show at the same building exactly one year earlier (12/26) headlined by Edge vs. Kane in a Steel Cage for the World Heavyweight title and the upper section was pretty much empty. Worst turnout for an Allstate Arena WWE event in the 14 or so years I've been going there.

Here's a picture to give you an idea (click to enlarge):

Last night was packed and the crowd was into the show so the Money in the Bank event seems to have brought back the Chicago crowd.

Daniel Bryan: The Star of a Show Nobody Watches. Sounds about right.

If being on Smackdown affords Bryan the opportunity to consistently put on great wrestling matches, I frankly couldn't give a shit if no one else is watching.

This is going to be a pretty awesome show.

Yeah, I really hope this turns out well. So many great wrestlers on the roster.

A number of younger undercard performers for Ring of Honor will be traveling to Japan next year to live and train at the Pro Wrestling NOAH dojos. I haven't officially confirmed any names, but the Bravado Brothers are slated to tour with NOAH so they appear to be the first of talents going over.

ROH is also working on bringing some NOAH regulars, Japanese and American, over for big shows in early 2012.

Good for the Bravados. A stay in the NOAH dojo, getting their asses handed to them by Shiozaki & KENTA, will surely do them the world of good.

Also, big YES to more NOAH talent in ROH. Tanahashi, Marvin & Sugiura would be my picks, as KENTA is sidelined with injury and Marufuji is just returning from injury, which is quite a big deal for NOAH (he's teaming with Ricky Marvin against AJPW wrestlers Shuji Kondo & Hiroshi Yamato at NOAH's first show of the new year, as Kondo has stated he wants to steal some belts from NOAH in retaliation to Akiyama winning the AJPW Triple Crown).

I'm done with ROH unless they improve production values. There is no reason Ohio Valley Wrestling or Chikara should have better production values than ROH. Chikara even has intro fog and lighting and trons. If they don't want to invest money in their own product I am certainly not going to. Plus Chikara is just so much more interesting and fun. ROH takes itself so seriously and it is sort of drab and boring.

No offense, but I don't get your point about Kane in 2012? This is wrestling, and the old guys are always on top.

We're about to have a WM that is headlined all around by old dudes. The Rock vs. Cena, Jericho vs. Punk, and HHH vs. Taker with HBK (who's retired) as the ref. I mean, that match is a rematch of a rematch of a match from 10 years ago.

I mean, if your problem with Kane is that he shouldn't be headlining a show in 2012, then you should probably just stop watching for the next few months. Hell, we just had a HHH/Nash program go on for months.
