Well if you look at Davey Richards' gimmick in ROH vs. NJPW, you'd see that wrestling in America vs. Japan are 2 very separate universes. Shelton's still dead over here.
:OOOOOOOO

I'll treat this as some twisted DC/Marvel crossover or something.
Shelton Benjamin did an interview where he basically said he's got an open door to go back to WWE whenever he wants, but he went to Ring of Honor as a favor to Charlie Haas and Jim Cornette.
That's nice of him. Shame they stuck him with that stupid gimmick where he had a mom. Besides that all they used him for was a spot monkey outside of tag team stuff.

Yes, Orton is in there, and will remain there until I hear the news that he's died.[/QUOTE]

When are you going to get off your butt and make us some WrestleGAF shirts?

They all look like Tajiri!

Haha, but in all seriousness, the last page made me realize that I really loved vignettes. The WWE always managed to hype people up using them, and did them perfectly.

My two favorite vignettes for a debuting superstar had to be Tazz (I guess you NWA guys should know that by now) and Sean O'Haire. Both guys had awesome little videos showing their character. It's a shame they didn't do too much with Sean O'Haire.

I also liked the Hade Vansen promo, but too bad Hade Vansen pulled a Broadus Clay and never debuted.

I remember hating Carlito at first due to his vignettes, now I just look back and laugh at how silly they are. Guess I didn't find them very cool.

It doesn't matter if you regularly post or not. Everyone is welcome to enter, I've put your name down.

Thanks. I'd post more often, but by the time I get to the thread, all bases are covered as far as any news goes. I'll try to post more unless Raw goes in a new direction that somehow involves/focuses more on blowhard Cole.

legit "pure" wrestling question

Was there ever a AAA vs. New Japan/IWGP show in the last 15 years?

The difference in wrestling styles would be something out of curtain jerker match on WCW Nitro which means it would be awesome!

AAA wrestlers sometimes compete in the NOAH tag league, but I don't think there's ever been a full show with Japanese/AAA guys - CMLL however co-promote the 'FantasticaMania' shows with New Japan. Here's highlight videos of the two nights of the 2011 FantasticaMania;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHcRCrymRUM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9HkfSKsRug

Night 2 featured the AWESOME Mistico/Averno 2/3 falls match, which was Mistico's last match before he went to WWE and became Sin Botcha;

Averno vs Mistico - 01/23/11 - part 1
Averno vs Mistico - 01/23/11 - part 2

So who's gonna step into the DANGER ZONE?

Can't. Snow from FFXIII is gonna be my avvy forever.

You're my favorite for the remainder of the year!

Orton was already injured when they did the Smackdown angle with Barrett pushing him down the stairs, which is why WWE had the notices on the website ready to go immediately.

So curious since don't actively post in here much, who has WWE 12 for the 360? Picked it up during one of the various Best Buy sales, and wanted to see if anyone else plays.

My unpopular opinion is that it's more important for a wrestler to be good on the stick than to be a wrestler, and so I'd rather see shorter weekly shows that only have highlights of matches so they can have more skits and promos, and save full matches for PPV.

Several here do. Dude I would so love to play with fellow wrasslegaffers. Can't imagine how fun that would be marking out online together inside the game lol. My biggest regret this 'gen' is not picking up a console because I've missed so many good games. WWE All Stars and WWE 12 especially

I read old news that WWE trademarked "Fear my Name." Some noted that Dean Ambrose used that line during his dark match promos.

So do you think that line will work with the current character he is playing in FCW?

Also, the Seth Rollins and Tyson Kidd match in Detroid was supposedly getting rave reviews. Also, its rumored Rollins could be called up to the WWE sooner then later.

I have it, it's been a little wonky online because of DLC issues. There's a Free Alicia Fox download, and if you decide to delete it so you can try to get more matches, it openly deletes your save without notifying you. You can acquire the save back, with your CAWs, Universe mode progress, etc. once you redownload Alicia Fox. Really stupid.

I've been mostly in Universe mode messing around. Storylines and turns are pretty funny some times. Also I realize I hate the AI in Triple Threat Steel Cage matches. If you climb, the AI will come fast as possible to pull you down, but if it is another AI climbing, there's a good chance he might make it out as the second AI will make damn sure you aren't climbing out while the other one begins to.

A few people's anti-Attitude Era posts make me think that they don't really understand why the Era is so beloved at all.

They make it sound like it was considered great because of some of the ECW-type excesses of garbage wrestling, chair shots and blood. I don't think that's at all why people look back so fondly on the Era. Sure, some teenagers who were little kids during the Era will say there has to be blood and no PG, but they don't even watch wrestling, they just bash Cena on youtube, and should be disregarded.

I want wrassle-gaf friends on 360. My GT is Sunflower4000 :)

That means you Bootaaay!

Don't post in here much anymore, but I also have it and play with Striker a lot, as usual. GT: MasterFox187 if anyone wants to play. It just takes so long to get matches anymore due to the DLC screwup.

My unpopular opinion: Cryme Tyme was the best tag-team the WWE has had in years. Completely infuriating that they never gave them the belts, and even MORE infuriating that they split them up.

Agreed. The final 'breakup' with the horrific strap match that was supposed to signal Shad Gaspard's split...went nowhere.

I had to listen to his goddamn diva-music theme in SvR2010 way too fucking much.

I really liked them, ...they split them up and then got rid of them? SMH, those guys were great and entertaining.

They were a one-trick pony and a horrible gimmick. Absolutely hoooorrible. But they were over. And really...is John Cena w/David Otunga a better tag team? They had the belts, but not these guys. Shame.

I view em like Disco Inferno. Horrendous gimmick, but consistently solid if not great. I love Disco! And also really, really over.

It appears reports of Randy Orton being out of action for six months, as announced by Tony Chimmel at last night's house show in Detroit may have been premature.

WWE.com reported today that Dr. Michael Sampson of the WWE medical staff examined Orton and said he suffered a herniated disc on the L-4/L-5 level on the left side of his back, which has led to pain and weakness going down his leg.

"He's going to need some time off for rehab, anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy."

The WWE.com story said the injury "could keep him sidelined for a few weeks," which sounds a lot more promising than six months out.

It has been confirmed Orton had been complaining of the injury for two weeks which is why his physical workload had been cut back on before the injury angle was shot on Tuesday night.

According to wikipedia, most herniated discs heal within about six weeks. Assuming he comes back before that, he may make it back in time for the Rumble.

I'm glad, as I like Orton, and he's been gold this year in terms of matches, one of the most consistent and high quality. He may have had full force Super Orton booking for the first half of the year, but he still had great matches doing it (unlike Cena when he's gone Super). The second half of the year has gotten rid of that "Super Cena and Super Orton Rule The World" stigma with his putting over new talent and clean losses.

yeah it was a stupid gimmick, but I liked it.

Not like the god awful trailer park trash gimmick from the last days of attitude era. Man I hated that guy and girl.

I wouldn't imagine that the Rumble is the most physically demanding match anyway. If he can rest for the month until then, he could probably work that match and then take off the weeks before Elimination Chamber.

Orton this year has been nothing short of immaculate in the ring; from his feud with Punk all the way through to his recent stuff with Barrett, with whom he previously had fuck all chemistry.

I would hope he's won over a lot of haters this year. Despite the "Outta Nowhere" finish being overused, he's kept his matches varied and exciting.

I know plenty find him boring in the ring, and I suppose he's not the most visually exciting wrestler, but he is always spot-on technically (I almost never see him botch or perform a move poorly) and often changes up his signature moves after one or two matches with the same guy (I love his later matches with Christian where they revisited spots and move but now had them countered and leading to a new spot).

He certainly doesn't get enough credit for his own wrestling ability, when the chips are down he is superior technically to Cena, and despite his Super Orton booking at times still puts on great matches, unlike Cena who falls back into formula.

Yeah I've become a fan of Orton now. His matches are always entertaining even though they're often booked to have an obvious "out of nowhere" rko finish. And yeah unlike Cena Orton is changes it up. It's getting incredibly annoying watching Cena do the SAME EXACT sequence every single time and really does his moveset go past 5 moves?! Even in tag matches he'll do his stupid five knuckle shuffle sequence tag out then when he comes back he does it again.

I agree, but let's not be so quick to forget that Cena was one half of the match of the year, and he was no slacker in that match.

Well everytime he tries something different it just starts the "you can't wrestle" chants.

haha there you go, I hated that guy

Orton's a heck of a superstar, and unlike Cena he's not universally disliked.

This is where I disagree. Noble had his share of stupid gimmicks/storylines, but he was a solid worker and I was sad to see him leave. Same thing with Jimmy Wang Yang, too.

I think I was more sad to find out Chris Masters was let go. But okay, I never caught Noble's matches due to me hating his gimmick >_>
