Hey guys, I need some recommendations.
I'm looking for something within last 5 years or so that is slow, and adventurous.
Fighting shouldn't be the focus (as in full episodes just focusing on a fight).
Maybe something like a group of people going around the world and meeting interesting people, or maybe a treasure hunter. I'm not really sure how to describe what I'm looking for but anything ideas are welcomed. I'm not looking for comedy though.

Secondly, looking for anime based on cooking. This one I'm more flexible with in terms of release date.

Very different kinda show, but Doctor Who serials have used the "fixed point in time" technobabble before. The ones that make it work, however, are the ones that explain why that fixed point in time is necessary for the universe to continue.
Mayuri's death's importance is just "there".

My complaints about Steins;Gate are not science-fiction related, but that one element was something that stood out for me.

Should I skip on Gurren Lagann Movie 2 if want to remain pure, Jexhius?

I should mention that I thought the first movie was a magnificent waste of time. Pretty visuals and music though.

For the first, I second Seirei no Moribito but it's SLOW, second Spice and Wolf but they don't actually really look for treasure and would posit Allison to Lillia as it is the right tone but with reservations as it totally falls apart in the second half.
 
Gundam Seed HD 01:

This is not a commentary on the show, I've already seen it all. I just wanted to mention how this show is a perfect example of how shows in the early age of computer coloring/filming don't transition to HD as well as shows that were originally shot on film. Something like the original Tenchi Muyo OVA looks great in HD because they had original film they could simply clean up and rescan. Sure it's not as perfect as stuff shot with widescreen HD in mind like modern anime, but at least it cleans up well.

Like a lot of the earlier shows colored in computers and rendered at lower res, you get a lot of shots that look, well, fuzzy. ESPECIALLY the character/mech outlines. It really sucks for a lot of anime from the late 90s - early 00s era that no matter what you do, they're going to look like shit in HD for the most part. :/

Of note, the ending song was slightly remixed at the end for some reason. Dunno if it's a new recording or whatever, but it was definitely a bit different.

For the 2nd, the only 2 really prominent ones are Yakitate! Japan and Toriko, the latter which has a big focus on fighting. Wrote a bit about it in my top 10 for the year post.

Dude, Gurren Lagann might be my favorite anime of all time. Watch the 2nd movie (or at least the last 20-30 minutes).

Having a long conversation pointing out at how boring your main character is, is not a good idea when his so boring it’s not funny( even his va is boring, there clearly trolling).

-so much FAT the show could do without

The first rate trolling is the reason to watch this

To be fair, Iron Chef, possibly the most famous cooking show to come out of Japan, is also a battle shounen.
 
Mister Ajikko, Cooking witht the power of shounen Haato but they battle by having a cook off and having tasters decide the winner, awesome reaction shots to be found.

One of my childhood animes I grew up watching Mister Ajikko.

That's pretty true. I wrongly figured Steins got no play because of the hype devouring beast that was MPD. It seems that way here on GAF, at least.
