I wish I was darker. I was always the most Hispanic-looking of my siblings but now I'm the palest thanks to my health. I don't think I've ever met someone who correctly guessed my race lol. Having 3 red-haired sisters doesn't help me look any less Caucasian.

Yeah, I hate Caucasians.

;_;

What's wrong with dark skin? It's beautiful. Some people are so stupid.

It's a cultural thing.

People in south asia tend view lighter skin (basically, the whiter the better) as fairer and more attractive. This is pretty much pushed on you from birth, so if you have darker skin, you tend to feel inferior.

I used to hear stories from my aunts about how women with dark skin hated my mom because the viewed her trying to make friends as being condescending because she had lighter skin.

My cousin was getting set up by his family to marry a girl and she said no right off the bat because he was too dark. I felt bad for him. He's on the other side of the family, so he didn't get the persian genes I sort of lucked in to.

Except now he's making six figures, so I guess that woman was pretty stupid.

Heh, her loss. I have a cousin who's making mad money too. He's getting married this summer and it looks to be the biggest event in that side of the family's history.

Edit: Yo ducky! Mind sending me one?

Speaking of, brown GAF

Do you get the "arranged" marriage talks, too?

Like, the subtle "You're __(age)___ now! It's time to start thinking about getting married! Your aunt in Texas knows this one family with a girl your age, do you want us to tell them you're interested?"

Fuck. I'm actually having a hard time justifying keeping my picture as my avatar.

It's been nearly 5 years of Parappa. I don't know if I can keep this up, GAF. I'm having a legit crisis here.

It's only a month Soultron, you gotta believe you can get through this!

I usually don't make creepy posts or hit on girls on the internet, but...

Ducky, you're turning me on. Like, hardcore right now.

Hah, I'm only 21 so my parents haven't started pushing it on me just yet.

But my sister, who is 24, is just getting bombarded with pictures of prospective guys, and subtle hints that she should learn how to cook and clean better from my mom.

I told my parents to fuck off with that shit. In a nicer way of course. My mom is understanding, my dad got super religious in the past few years, but his old self still dominates his attitude; if I bagged me a hot/rich one, he won't mind. XD

Dude, you've already crossed that line. Might as well embrace it.

This sucks. I don't think I have a preference between lighter or darker skin tones, personally. For example, I'm normally one of the palest people you could meet, but I was actually rocking a pretty awesome tan this summer. While I had it, I missed my paleness, and as soon as it began to fade, I began to miss the tan. What relevance does this have to anything? Nothing at all.

No, no, no. Hot AND rich.

One of my friends in high school was Iranian and her grandmother was always trying to set her up with... her cousins. It was bizarre. Apparently her dad was a psuedo outcast for marrying outside of the family (and to a white girl).

You look like my cousin...only white. Lol

Anyways don't know why it matters. Alot of PRs are white so not sure why it's a big issue. Guess getting a tan is a no no for you?

I've gotten similar talks, but not marriage-related (Mexican/Native-AmericanGAF here). I used to get pestered by my grandmother on my father's side and by that whole half of the family because they thought I would never lose my virginity. It's hard to put into words how satisfyingly embarrassing it was when they found out the truth.

The other was in my senior year of high school. I didn't go to the prom during junior year, so my mom threatened to find me a date for the senior ball. Luckily one of my friends said she wasn't doing anything and we agreed to go together.

We didn't really have a good time, and in retrospect I didn't catch on to how she felt. While I do feel glad about going, I feel even worse about not being able to show her a good time.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous how much the idea is instilled. My aunt is the most "Hispanic looking" of her three sisters and looking more white in anyway is held to such a pedestal that she'd squeeze lemon into her dark brown eyes every day to try to make them lighter.

Not arranged marriage, but I used to be told that I wouldn't be allowed to move out of the home until I married - however long that took. >:( Thank god I managed to convince them out of that one.

I wish that I had darker skin/pigment because I'm a redhead so in the summer/sun I usually burn my skin if I'm not careful...

When I was about ten I burned my shoulders when swimming so badly that I had second degree burns on my shoulders and upper back... It was quite painful for some time...

This thread moves fast.. :o

It's associated with being of a "lesser" class. Whatever the hell that means.

And yea, some cultures are really dumb like that.

There's really some ignorant people out there unfortunately. It's amazing the stark differences youl'll experience in life based on skin tone.

Random, but I always laugh when someone uses "tall dark and handsome" knowing full and well they don't mean people of a darker skin tone.
