You were lucky, or maybe it depend of the country. But in HMV they canceled my Vita because EMS was not allowed because of the batteries. And when I checked it in whiterabbit, they told me that they had to charge me more because instead of EMS they needed to use FedEx to sent it.
So how much did you pay in total?

Nothing, because i decided to wait.

The mail that i received was:

-qty 1 PlayStationVita Wi-Fi model crystal black PCH-1000 ZA01 : US$400.00

There's GPS PSP applications, I'm sure there will be one for Vita... I'm actually pretty certain Monster Radar (a Vita game) is actually made by that GPS studio.

Wow, you seem to know about SONY more that I thought.
Quick question, do you think more PSP games will become available on PSN after Vita's launch?!

To people who can't get their near location on the WiFi model - from what I've read on one Japanese site right now, if you access point's address isn't in Skyhook's database, it just won't work. You can register it by yourself, but the process can take days.

I know many things about Sony. Some things I'd rather not know...

As for if more PSP games will make the digital jump as we near the Vita's launch, well it's possible. I think at this point any games not up there are likely to come down to licensing issues that may not ever be resolvable. Though, there should certainly be a fire sale on a large amount of the software.

Have just done this. Near works perfectly at my brothers which is a brand new estate but it doesn't work for me 5 minutes out from the city.

I've also done it right now, let's see how it turns out, since my "access point" is just my notebook using Connectify to share the dorm wired connection.

Has anyone tried Remote Play? I'm wondering what games (if any?) at this point work with it? I just connected both the PS3/Vita, and can't seem to launch anything game- related. I didn't try much (and maybe I'm being ridiculous) but I tried GTAIV and Fifa 12. I know on the PSP, all I really played remotely was Pixel Junk Eden but I just assumed there would be more support for it.

There isn't anything that works with the Vita that didn't already work with the PSP.

Alright. Any idea if this will change with newer software? Is there a list to show supported content?

Edit: I guess this was early wishful thinking. I just kept thinking of this video of Vita running KZ3 at TGS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RHNn12SHiTQ#!

But Eurogamer has stated that in a later update, it will support all games:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-24-ps3-firmware-to-enable-vita-remote-play-for-all-games

does remote play need your PS3 to be logged in with the same account as the Vita? Will it work with non-Japanese accounts?

I ABSOLUTELY love tennis.. I have already logged 20 hours. The only thing thats annoying me at the moment is the fact that the "Win a game online" trophy hasn't been unlocked despite me winning 10+ games online and all the other online trophies being unlocked =/

Not sure what to do about that? Has this sort of thing ever happened with PS3 games?

how do I find a list of my PSP games I downloaded? Just from that massive list on PSN? No way to filter by platform? I'm sure I had the '10 free games' from when I had a PSPgo, but I can't see them in the PSN download list..

and some of them say they aren't downloadable on PS3 (patapon, locoroco and killzone), so does that mean they won't work on vita?

I see only one link to a download list in the PS Store app on the Vita and it seems you can't sort it in any way.

Hmmm, finally saw two Vita ads on TV. The english kid talking is not good because I want to punch him in the face, but the Minna no golf one is ok. At least Sony are doing ads for this.

hmm, interestingly with the Docomo SIM card in, its picking up UK networks. Won't let me connect, but does let me select from the different operators, and edit the APN.

I wonder if I had the top end plan from docomo it'd allow roaming.

Annoyingly it still reports 'invalid SIM' if I put my vodafone one in.

Sadly, yeah. The change when they invalidated PSP games on PS3 for redownload was really badly handled so far.
Anyway I found MediaGo to be a lot better at browsing the DL list (it's faster and easier to navigate it then PS3, plus it's organized in pages so you can skip around rather then just scroll).

Locoroco works for sure.
Anyway so far Vita only sees PSP games on Asian PSN (I got a few on SG account, and they worked even though store is not up for Vita), for US/Euro we'll have to wait until Feb I think.

Hey J-Gaffers! Have you tried PSVita media manager for PC? How does it works? Does it lets you back-up all your profile on your PC and restore it later?
Does it need to be connected to internet and logged to PSN?

I was thinking to a crazy situation like this:
I have to restore my games and my account (for example, in a near future, something like 10 years from now) in a new PSV but PSN is down, can I it without being logged?

how do i go about doing this?

where do i go to register?

edit:

nevermind! i think i found it

Yeah, that's the site. You basically have to input all the information they want and wait.

I'm using it and it's basically a few folders from/to which you move the Vita data. I think there's an option to backup your profile but I haven't checked.

is Ridge Racers 2 much better than 1? The difference mainly seems to be that RR2 has a lot more tracks from previous games. but RR2 isn't available on UK/US PSN, only JPN..

This is a completely random question but does the HK version of Uncharted have the English title on the spine?

Yes! Pic coming soon :)

Also there is only English in the HK version. Options just has Controls and Audio, but the Audio is just volume control or subtitles.

Did you play the first one? If you did and love Ridge Racer 4 then RR2 is well worth buying as it's essentially a love letter to Type 4 in terms of music and courses. Still one of my favourite PSP games.

A number of people have asked me to buy Vita's for them (I'm in HK).

I don't mind answering questions about where to get them, latest prices and the market here but sorry guys: I don't want to deal with being responsible for getting a Vita to you, getting the best price, shipping and dealing with any issues you may have.

Edit: I know this sounds a little unkind, but I have a lot going on at the moment with a new job, moving apartment. I hope you guys understand.

No, not unkind at all. I wouldn't want the responsibility either. If something happened to the order, it could make for some bad blood in the forums.

Thanks for being open to give us your impressions, etc.

Are digital downloads in the HK store at a reduced price like they are in the Japan store?

Answers to those questions would be very nice indeed! :D

I'm trying to persuade someone i know in HK to get one for me, and knowing where the best prices are would be a great help. Thanks!

Importing a vita, a 32GB memory card, and a few games seems to be near impossible.

I've been looking at sites for the last week or two and nobody (who both ships to Australia AND doesn't use EMS) ever seems to have everything in stock at once.

Any recommended stores?

Can anyone get remote plan to TURN on their PS3 and work automatically. My Vita will turn on my PS3 but then I have to press the PS button on the controller for it to work so its pointless anyways.

Yes, but the discount seems to be all over the place. For example: (retail/PSN)

Army Corps of Hell - 388/374
BLAZBLUE CONTINUUM SHIFT EXTEND - 388/350
DYNASTY WARRIORS NEXT - 418/377
RIDGE RACER - 309/279
ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 - 388/338

Worked NP for me -- don't have to touch the controller.

On that note, my PS3 makes a really light buzz even when in sleep mode when I have remote start turned on... is this only me?

Golden Shopping Centre in Sham Shui Po or Oriental 188 Shopping Centre in Wan Chai are the places you want to go.

You can expect to get the WiFi system for about HKD$2500, 3G for around HKD$2900.

Game prices are variable. I recommend looking at the official prices here: http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/news/pressDetail/249570

I've seen stuff like Katamari marked up to shit at HKD$450, but on the other hand if you're lucky you can get used stuff like Ridge Racer for HKD$180. I saw Monster Radar for HKD$250 but no idea if that works here.

HMV get random stuff in daily and sold at the official price. No systems though.

Official accessories like the cradle, mains adapter are easy to come by in HMV or the shopping centres and not marked up.

Also, Hong Kong Records seem to have everything but at an incredible 30% markup.

Edit - note about memory cards, there seems to be no 32GB cards in HK and 16GB is hard to come by, possibly marked up too.
