Happy New Year, guys!

I just looked at the pick 'em, and realized I'm somehow in second place. However, I have also just realized I picked a B1G sweep tomorrow. Surely THAT won't end poorly.

Who lives in Miami and wants to go to the Orange Bowl?

Some hypothetical names being thrown around for our new DC:

Justin Wilcox (we can pay him enough to make it worth it for him to leave Tennessee with our new TV money, but I don't know if they want to or will)

Kalani Sitake (Utah DC, makes like 170k while Holt made 600+k)

Jeff Casteel (WVU DC, he might end up at Zona with Dickrod though)

Rocky Seto (DB coach for the Seahawks, coached with Pete Carroll and Sark at USC)

Still unsure who I would want. Needs to be someone flexible because of the variety of offenses in the Pac, and needs to be someone who can recruit his ass off.

How are these games today not even staggered? Didn't it used to be there was a game on at like 11AM EST, then a game at noon, then a couple games at 1, a game at 2, etc?

Well fuck me there's a game on at noon. Nvm.

Congrats he is a great coach and the LB coach he is bringing with him is also good. Can't blame them for wanting to get out of this disaster in progress.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!
It didn't take Sarkisian long to find two of the three replacements as he scooped up a pair of coaches with strong West Coast and Pac-12 ties. Wilcox and Sirmon were teammates at Oregon, and Wilcox was the defensive coordinator at Boise State for four seasons before joining coach Derek Dooley at Tennessee two years ago.

Not a lot went right for Tennessee this season, but the Vols finished 28th nationally in total defense, and Wilcox and his staff were able to hold their own with one of the youngest defenses in the country. Three true freshmen -- linebackers A.J. Johnson and Curt Maggitt and safety Brian Randolph -- started most of the season.

Wilcox, 35, has been a hot commodity since his red-hot run at Boise State. He was wooed by Texas last season, but elected to stay at Tennessee.

Sirmon, a Wenatchee, Wash., native, played seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans as a linebacker. He spent the 2009 season as a graduate assistant at Oregon before coming to Tennessee in 2010 as a grad assistant working under Wilcox. In addition to being one of the Vols' top assistant coaches, Sirmon also was one of the program's best recruiters.

Love how this gets leaked out the morning of the ducks Rose Bowl. Some of their fans already getting pissed on the message boards that a duck would dare coach at UW.

Already ruining the Oregon SBN site's pre Rose Bowl thread.

wow
blowing up that Justin Wilcox will be the new UW defensive coordinator.
me sads.
and Sirmon is going to be the linebackers coach
I feel stabbed in the back

I know it seems petty but haven't really had much to cheer about in this rivalry lately.

Beautiful TD pass by Case.

Go Coogs!

Headed to the stadium at 2:00 for some free chips and shit.

Lots and lots of orange around Phoenix this weekend. Feel pretty confident about the game, but we'll definitely need to play well to win.

Tennessee is sooooooooooo screwed.

Having to hire a large chunk of the staff, any new coaches will seek multiple year deals with buyouts. So when Tennessee inevitably fires Dooley, they'll have to pay out the assistant coaches too.

Probably should can Dooley now, save themselves that mess.

Pretty much. No way Dooley will be able to get anyone worth a damn. This is pretty much the nail in Dooleys coffin. There is no way this team will get the 9 wins it will take to save his job. Should probably just promote Lance Thompson and hope for the best.

As I selected Penn State to win this game in the pick 'em, I thought to myself "why am I doing this? It's like I'm intentionally giving up points."

Coogs not even trying to run against penn st lol

I agree with Smokey, Sumlin's bs before the game fucked with the team.

Sounds like Hart is saying he will not give multi year deals, and no raises to current coaches.

Says a lot for how he views dooley's future.

But keeping with this, he won't get any quality assistants. Better start scouring the high schools for coaches.

Just like Boise, it's looking like Houston deserved a much better opponent.

This whole idea of a "mid-major" team losing once means slapping them down to a weak bowl has to stop. That Boise St. demolishing of Arizona St. was embarrassing and criminal. This game is going to probably end up looking the same. They need to fix this broken system.

But first things first. Let's stop putting Nelly on TV.

They have contracts in place with conferences that include ticket guarantees. The MWC or CUSA ain't gonna guarantee 20K ticket sales in the off chance they have a year where one of their teams deserve it and the bowls don't exist without those ticket sales.

Bowls are exhibitions that have nothing to do with fairness.

That's usually the case, but it's painfully obvious that the BCS just wants to lock Boise St. out.

The BCS has nothing to do with the bowls outside of the BCS games and Boise St. has no argument for being in a BCS game this year.

No argument? Their kicker makes 1 more FG this season and they're possibly in the title game, but they can't play in one of the other games? Give me a break.
