Wandering Son 12

Great conclusion to a great show. It ended up being a sensitive character drama even aside from the gender identity issues it focused on, which kept it from becoming didactic. The characters felt very real, if in a slightly idealized world, and the complexity of that time around puberty was acknowledged in a way that I could relate to.

I have no complaints. Best anime of 2011. Ei Aoki is the best director of 2011.

Recommend me a good comedy GAF. My mood keeps sinking with the combination of
Menma's sweet parting
and me remembering that classes start again in two days.

Gintama is the best anime comedy.

Actually, before I start any new comedy show,

I need to finish my Gintama backlog!

Ah, you're already on it. Excellent.

Except for Utena

The only way I would ever watch Garzey's Wing, if I were ever to watch it
which will never happen, ever
would be dubbed. The Youtube videos of that dub are just so incredible. It might be the best dub of all time, and I mean that with the utmost sincerity.

Also, pantsu. Lots of pantsu. I need to watch more shows with lots of pantsu!

Oh lawd. "A man is falling down, a young man isn't he?"

You guys ain't kidding.

After a quick survey of my anime history, I found that the only thing I've watched in full both subbed and dubbed was Princess Mononoke, and enjoyed it just the same both times. (I may have also watched Castle of Cagliostro in hybrid, but can't be certain.) Everything else has only been one or the other. Eventually I guess I'll get around to rewatching the stuff still in my possession with the opposite language tracks as the first times.

The dvds even have reversible covers in case you want the pantsu version.

Natsume S4 - 01

I really think it was unneccesary to infodump what the series is about when there's only been a 1 season gap between season 3 and this episode, on the brightside it was done in a minimilistic way and jumps straight to business.

As long as they don't spend a whole episode on it, like last season, then that's okay. It's not like it's a complicated set-up.

I say this all the time and no one listens to me. :(

Poor Kaoru-no-Kimi ;_;
Was that breast cancer? ... I always tought she had a heart condition of some sort

She always had undefinable generic but certainly fatal 'anime disease' where it's never defined what condition the character has.

What's a good authority on anime genres? I'm looking at ANN and My Anime List. The latter is more broad with slice of life than the former.

Anyway, I guess it's about time I gave K-On! a try.

Genre is a thorny (and perhaps pointless to discuss) subject in itself, I don't particularly feel that ANN are the authority on it.

The lead of Bakemonogatari isn't really a douche from what I've seen; he's just your average friendly, helpful, perverted harem lead
albeit with a disturbing love of violence against elementary school students
. Plays a good straight man against Senjougahara.
Araragi is a man with disturbing inclinations. That is all.
Bakemonogatari 6

Hachikuji = OK
Kanbaru = nice spunk, not enough time
Senjougahara = amazing as always
Hanekawa = blahblahblahcarsblah
Ending = so cool

You haven't even gotten to the best, er, character, er, yet!
The 4koma actually had the panty shot and not just the rice bowl.

Truly a classier work than the original series.

Okay, Stratos 4. The hilariously voluminous Wikipedia entry makes no mention of fanservice. It's Studio Fantasia and Bandai Visual again, the same studios who were behind Aika. You'd better not be leading me astray, cajun. There had better be pantsu!

edit: Okay, yeah, there's pantsu. Nevermind. >_>

Everyone called it. Steins;Gate is not big on subtlety.

There's a certain element in Steins;Gate that will unlock a lot of the 'revelations' for the audience, if they can work it out ahead of time. Spoilers for the whole damn show:
After a certain point you realise that all the important figures in the show have to be people Okabe already knows somehow, because that's how the 'revelations' work. They don't bring in some outside character for one episode, they use the existing cast.

Remind me to take a picture of both dvd cover versions.
Youll appreciate it.

Natsume S4 1

Well this is a big improvement over last season. It actually looks like, you know, an episode of Natsume, except that once again they're doing an arc rather than a one-off story. That's fine by me.

I don't really have anything else to say about the show at this point, they've got a formula down that works, but there's not a lot of changes to it. I suppose the shift to 'arcs' might me be an attempt to give the series a meatier story.
