I think it's just assumed that, whenever you're watching anything it's a form of self flagellation.

*Thumbs up* AWESOME. Now get the first season, CR, so people can legally see this wonderful, second best selling anime!

w00t.

Chihayafuru - 13

Well hot damn, that was an enjoyable watch given what's happened to Arata so far it could have easily have turned into an emo-fest, but it didn't.

My delicious animu I missed you so much (no offence backlog).

Er, what's happening here?

Dude was feeling ill so she was trying to nurse him back to good health and during the course of that, for some reason she thought that putting layers upon layers on clothing would help him and oh god i can't believe i've watched through that series too

and actually i'm more concerned about the chains...

Google body inflation.

Angel's Egg

"Who... who are you?"

Just to get it out of the way, the hair was what all hair should look like in all anime forever.

The film is incredibly well directed by Mamoru Oshii, though it would have to be to say so much with such little dialogue. The character design is beautiful and the overall feel of it is unsettling in the best of ways. The film is littered with potential symbolism, and I only say potential because it is easy to dive down that rabbit hole and give meaning to everything (Even if everything really does hold meaning). I think the truth about its meaning is that it may only be understood by Oshii himself.
I feel that it holds a positive message within its less than positive ending. The traveler does destroy (or maybe sets free) what is perceived to be life its self (The angels scream upon discovering the eggs shell sent shivers down my spine), but the angels will was so strong that it flourished many times over (Some seeds fall onto thorns while others flourish). Who was he? I don’t think there is denying him being a Christ like figure (Cross on his back, bandaged hands), I think he is what happens to people who lose faith, not in a religious sense(maybe?), but in life. He had given up hope for this world and because of this wanted to destroy the hope of others. To him they were meaningless and maybe even infuriating. The Raven sent out during the biblical flood was meant to find Noah land and the hope that life would again be able to flourish but never returned, so the appearance of the embryos at the ending show the viewer (And Traveler) that hope exists.

Other things I found interesting were the fact that the world is barren and her struggle is to carry life through this lifeless world. The way she carries the egg I felt also had significance; the responsibility of protecting life is one that is associated with adulthood, yet a child is in charge of this enormous task. This is why she carries the egg the same way a pregnant woman carries her unborn child. The fishermen also stuck out to me in their pursuit of the remnants/shadows of fish (Jesus Christ, their Savior) to no avail; their futile and destructive pursuit of a faith that is now conditioned into their lives.

All of this was accompanied by an amazingly haunting soundtrack that fit perfectly and enhanced the feel of the desolate environment.

I didn’t look into any analysis of the film, so I’m not sure if I am in line with what others have interpreted. I don’t think it will change what I thought, but it would be interesting to read.

And I didn't even fall asleep.

BFFs 4 LYFE

I'll try to dig up the convo we had in the last thread. It basically covers my (& hosanna's) interpretations of the film.

Link it if you find it. It would be fun to read what some of the people here who have watched it thought.

And for the record I could see people falling asleep if they weren't in the right mindset for the movie. Luckily I always have my trusted friend coffee by my side <3

ok i forgot eva (the original ending was brutally crappy), but rahxephon? can you refresh my memory because I dont remember it being that bad

It's not a particularly gory one, but the idea behind
Ayato sacrificing everyone to reset the world to match his specific set of desires is a pretty damning one.

Time to stock up on shitty animu before the source dies completely.

Seriously though, are they fucking mental or what?

Thats what I did with Geneon/ Pioneer stuff. Looks like my year just got more expensive.

Eh, episode 3 is pretty bad, but episode 4 is better and episode 5 is really good. Obviously YMMV but that's probably the worst this show gets.

Isn't this show like 15 episodes? There isn't enough of it to complain about length and filler.

I don't know, original snake girl arc with original animation is pretty terrible. Well, the final episode of that arc anyway.

b-but...Kana Hnggggggazawa.

I must be the only person who didn't find Bakemonogatari 3 terrible, if weaker than the first arc and without the stand-out moments of the next two episodes. The conversation with Senjougahara was rather entertaining.

Snail girl is worst girl but come on. That whole arc isnt that bad.

Er, what's happening here?

Miracles.

Um, how are people supposed to know what that is until they have revealed it, therefore spoiling the show?

Um did you not read the posts above mine where people are directly spoiling the show without any kind of spoiler tags?

I at least had the decency to tag some of it. If you've seen the show you know what show I'm talking about and if you haven't then you don't have to read it.

Not sure what your problem is.

Ben-To's OST has its gems. Sentou 4 Niramiai, I Gotta Turn It On, and the opening track are played constantly on my youtube list.

Just because other people have done it doesn't make it right!

At leas it's not as bad as the Sailor Moon thread.

Mayonnaise on my Chichis! 04: This show truly has something for everyone.

Like a box of chocolates, Mayo Chiki! is full of candy that no sane person would eat à la carte. Sweet, delicious grossness.
Best harem comedy I've seen so far. Stupid, entertaining, self aware, likable characters. And Kanade of course. Hottest troll in anime.

I guess
but it didnt leave me with a D: face
I don't like shows that leave me with a D: face. More :D please.

I liked it. I like Araragi conversations usually except that one time.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 1

Girl lives in a $2 million dollar mansion, goes to a school that looks better than most universities, and then encounters laughing ice-cream moustache monsters on one of the floors of a CD store.

It's pretty interesting, but the artists are being a bit too extravagant I think. Not that that's a bad thing, but it kinda caught me off guard.

I think we can all agree the catgirl is best.
Even if you don't agree, because that just means your wrong. I will forgive you for that
if you post moe
