Any thoughts on Rosetta Stone? What about Fluenz? Any others I'm missing that you might have used that was helpful?

Rosetta Stone is just 'learn' by parotting. Useless, useless useless. I assume most of the other programs are similar, but cannot confirm.

Get a teacher.

EDIT - Good god, Stairs; are you attempting to win the award for most idiotic and ignorant given on this forum?

Rosetta Stone is trash, Fluenz is pretty good, I learned Spanish with it. There's also the Pimsleur stuff which is ok but very inefficient.

OP, I don't mind Rosetta Stone. But I only used it as an assist to the lessons I was having. I guess that's not what you're really after but give it a go and see what you think. I know it's sometimes frowned upon round these parts.

I found it useful as a listening tool to use while I was studying Korean at university. It really depends on how you use it. Its not going to be useful if you use it on its own, especially for a language with different lettering (it doesn't teach that). It also teaches from basic grammar up, meaning you learn things like "the man is eating" or "there is no spoon" before you learn handier things like "I'm sick, where is the hospital". Since there is no translation, it can be really hard to guess more complex sentences.

My advice would also be "get a teacher". Even a tutor you meet with once a week.
