Working'!! 12
Another Yamada filled episode, with guest star Yamada Male!
Oh and there was a bunch of Inami stuff that was everywhere.
Poor Daisy.

When someone asks what you mean by "moe principles", I don't think "moe moe moe" is a helpful answer.

You know, that doesn't actually explain anything!
Okay, while the word "moe" might be poorly defined, moe elements and moe character types are all very prolific and well documented. If you don't know what I mean by those terms, then I'm wary as to whether you've watched any anime in the last 15 years at all.

eople hate Madoka for the moe elements but the same ranked the K-On! girls 5 page earlier.
I don't hate on Madoka for the moe. The parts I dislike are the faux intellectualism and the paper-thin characters, things that have nothing to do with moe if you can help it.

Sooo Evangelion with moé instead of mecha.
Well, they both certainly do have a bunch of people thinking they're deconstructions. :P

I disagree

Fuck the intellectuals. Its about cute girls and violence. And strange little cat things.
If that's all it was about, I would have liked it alot more. :/

Prince of Tennis II - 1

So a relaunch of the series with returning fan favorites huh? Still too early to say how bad/good the matches will be.

I am impressed! Did you base this on the stupid boring original Negima series or the reworked superior one with the confusing punctuations?
It was the result of years of meticulous study involving everything from the girls' eating habits to their preferred panty colour.

Actually, it was based mainly on the manga with a side order of the reworked anime.

Japanese Hamdo was more disturbing because it was the voice actor who played Kimura in Azumanga Daioh.
Whoa, i'll keep that in mind when I get around to rewatching it.

Has it been licensed?

The first series was licensed by Media Blaster but they haven't done anything with it. :/

Seen Honey and clover. not the other ones.
Dude, I can't speak for Skip Beat you need to watch Nodame Cantabile ASAP. Gyabo!

So I just finished Penguindrum. I had no idea what happened so I will go read GAF posts about the ending later but I gotta say that apple picture in the official penguins thread explains a lot of shit.

Is Utena more straightforward or should I expect another mindfuck?
The ending's more straightforward but there's still mindfucks aplenty. And that's before you even get to the movie!

Well Utena having a more straightforward ending is very good news. Will have to find the time now to marathon a 39 episodes anime.

so basically you dont like any anime ever?

Adolescence is also more coherent than MPD.

(Although that's only true if you watched the series first, otherwise it's probably about even)

Kimura is actually Hamdo in disguise
after travelling there through the bound system. Abelia is Kaorin after he kidnapped and brainwashed her.
Then Kimura's wife must actually be a brainwashed Sara and the child her rape baby.

You like girls with short hair I reckon.

I like anime girls whether their hair is long or short. I like Belldandy and Mouri Ran (Detective Conan), both long haired. I also like Nagato Yuki (Haruhi) and Miyazaki Nodoka (Negima), who both have short hair.

And then there's Charlotte... who'd be amazing no matter what length of hair.

Hair length is not the deciding factor in making me hnnnng. ^^;

I don't know, really. :s

Probably something like: I heard it was crrrazy, and it was short.

I had absolutely no clue what was going on or why anything was happening.
I guess it's like injecting LSD into your eyeballs as your first drug experience?

And so Cajun knows that Violinist of Hameln has something for him...

Just look how adorable Flute is.

I am myself and no one else.

Howdy stranger! This is Instro. If things have gone wrong, I'm talking to myself, and you've got a wet towel wrapped around your head. Whatever your name is, get ready for the big surprise. You are not you. You're me.

You guys shouldwatch Tsukikage Ran and Riding Bean.
Neither is related to the other of course except that they make me a contented thing.

New Prince of Tennis 1
tumblr_lxanseCTUI1qg312to1_500.gif

The opening and ending could have really been enhanced more. The opening song is forgetable but the animation isnt (when Echizen is slammed against the wall in the rain, so powerful). The ending song is terrible...however, like Just Awake from Hunter X Hunter (2011), I will end up loving the song as its played more and more, something is catchy about Enjoy, and the animation.

Never encountered the Prince of Tennis franchise before, but this episode was pretty awesome. Sold from the train scene. I love the character cast and the over the top yet epic looking skills for tennis. I cant imagine what the higher ups of the highschoolers will be capable of. Echizen, Eiji Kikumaru, and Kintaru Toyama are instant faves. Loved the megane part. Will definitely keep watching.

the manga is fun. The tv show was pretty low budget, but was fun. The character designs... are pretty shojo. Don't recall much bromance though.

I'm surprised they are doing an anime for 'part 2' already. 2 really short chapters a month won't take long to catch up to...

Freezing End

Pretty solid ending that would have been a thousand times better had there been actual good buildup. Some intense action and above average animation definitely makes it stand out.

One scene I don't get was when
Ganessa "dies" and then comes back shortly after.
This is how I imagine the conversation went down between Im Dal Young (author) and Kim Kwang Hyun (artist):

Im Dal Young: Alright, lets kill off Ganessa by having her lose too much blood from her severed arm.
Kim Kwang: Hey, good idea. People always get back up after losing an arm, but we'll be all realistic and shit. Fans will love it!
Im Dal: Alright, so then let's conclude this fight between Satellizer and Chiffon. Let's have Satellizer cut off her arms.
Kim: Alright, *drawing* done.
Im Dal: Now let's make it seem like Satellizer will kill her, but have the pussy main dude hold her back. Fans will love it.
Kim: But the blood loss from her severed arms won't kill her?
Im Dal: ...Ah fuck. Can you go back and change it?
Kim: Come on dude, I want to get out of here. I haven't slept in 3 days because SOMEONE keeps spilling tabasco sauce on my futon.
Im Dal: Hey, that was your fault! Ugh, fuck it let's just have Ganessa come back to life.
Kim: K!

Kind of weird storytelling there.

Anyway, overall it sure was something. Pretty much Im dal Young storytelling at its worst combined with his own brand of intense action at its best, or close to it at least. The writing is par for the course considering the guy; plagued with poor characterizations, overt sexism and fanservice at inappropriate times. The fights had top notch choreography and were just plain fun to watch.

I'd probably watch a second season.

Got up to date with Phi Brain. Hrmmm...I kinda like the idea and I keep watching it, yet is seems really odd since you really don't get to see much of the actual puzzles. He just goes "It's Puzzle Time!" and solves stuff.

Sailor Moon 14

The introduction to Nephrite, who is clearly a distant relative of Anne, and the really brief but awesome cameo intro to Zoisite. The former is awesome in his own right but damn the latter is so fabulous, even more than Jadeite.

The setup for the future episodes is pretty interesting, Jadeite has never specifically targeted individuals in his energy stealing schemes, it's always been large groups of people. Nephrite’s approach is completely different, targeting at the individual level. The episode was a lot more interesting because it’s not just monster of the week but it’s also seemingly going to be supporting characters of the week as well now.

This weeks episode was simply awesome. Realistic tennis that suddenly devolves/evolves into Prince of Tennis, not-CG cars, cute girls, lots and lots of flowers, sweet music, a neat monster of the week
which took the form of a tennis racket SICK
, character development with the side characters in the series, some really awesome scenes (
Usagi getting turned into a tennis ball, the fight scene, the colors and animation in this episode were just top notch
) and the power of friendship. Hell even Tuxedo Kamen was super fabulous and awesome in this episode
although that romantic scene with him and Usagi makes me salty.

If this is how the show is going to be every week then this marathon is going to go a lot faster. That was just great.

Well, there's a couple of places in the manga that seem tailor made for the anime to stretch things out (where there are a number of matches all taking place at once). I could see the anime getting quite a few episodes there.

Naruto Shippuden Bonds

So late seeing it but, Naruto looks great in HD, so glad Viz did the Blu Ray over, will have to check out Bleach Fade to Black as well. Sasuke made the movie quite epic, after his odd absence from the first Shippuden one it was great to have him back.
Entire sequence of fighting with Naruto against the doctor through Sasuke's and Naruto's closing scene of that airship part was epic
. Now to wait two more years for the next Naruto Shippuden movie. Oh and Sai was pretty cool.
