Oh shit. I just remembered that I do have a costume with suspenders built into it. I'm not entirely sure I can still fit into it.

Would it count if I was dressed up as the scene from Dumbo where his mom is cradling him through the bars of the train car?

It does seem like a place where you can happily expect to see a mountain lion sunning itself on your porch. I approve.

Northern AZ, where I live. Copious amounts of Mountain Lions. They're so friendly, they'll even stalk you long enough to take your dog from you as you have it out for a walk. /truestory.

THAT i'm not cool with. I live up in the heights and we have skunks, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits etc running around. People riding horses down the street. It's really nice after living in the city and suburbs my entire life. I could definitely see myself staying in a place like this..

Oregon has always been one of those places I need to check out. Seems really beautiful there.

I don't think I've ever really been west of Arkansas within the United States.

And even then, only really Texas.

You guys--what have you been doing with your lives? You need to visit!

I don't know about mountain lions, but deer will happily munch on your garden. Also bears (but not in your garden.) I've seen them often when we go camping.

I believe many people (here and anywhere) have a different idea of what "good weather" is.

Most importantly, for me, weather changes. I like Fall best, but Winter, Summer and Spring have their charms, and extremely consistent places like San Diego are terrible for this. While the benefits of warm weather are apparent just from this thread, cold weather tends to envigorate me, and air assumes a particularly pure and clean feel on sharp winter mornings.

I love snow. I love the rain. I also love sunny days. I would not want to have only one of any of these.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying people are wrong for disagreeing; I'm simply expressing my preferences.

Sounds like you'd love Ohio. We get this kind of weather ... sometimes all in the same day.

^And that's why I hate LA the most (aside from the terrible transportation system). I miss storms and the joy of coming in out of the cold to hot soup or having special seasonal dishes. Makes me miss Japan something terrible.

What makes me miss Japan the most is the transit system. You can get anywhere on a train or bus. Then I came home and had to drive everywhere because there are no trains around here and the buses don't go anywhere relevant. *sigh*

;_; That's why my cat will always be an indoor cat.

That sounds lovely. I want to live near a nice city, but have some nature and privacy to myself. Colorado or Oregon both sound like potentials for this dream.

Many people think that California goes straight into Washington: I assure you, it does not.

Lol. When I read "California hat" I immediately thought "isn't that Washington?" maybe Oregon needs some good advertising to get people there. Paging stet

Nashville is that way. You could live about 25 to 30 minutes outside of town and be in the middle of nowhere if you'd like. Plenty of trees here haha

The heights next to Whittier aren't bad. You got the city minutes away and nature on the hill. Only downside is freeways are a ways off so getting to downtown or lbc take longer than it should.

...I use to troll there.

heh I recognized the name. Everyone used to troll there. Horrible place.

I live in a medium-sized city (40,000) that's less than 2 1/2 hours from: Fort Wayne, Toledo, Columbus, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati. Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Chicago are also all drivable as well.

It's also out in the middle of open fields and foresty areas with a river running through it (that floods in the spring ... -_-).

But on the plus side, we have more restaurants than I can count. I lost track around 50.

If you want that, living just outside of Portland would be nice. While not the biggest city, it is a decent size with a lot of green within the city. There is also relatively good public transportation making getting in and out of the city easy if you want to live in a more countryside area.

I like medium sized cities myself, so Eugene is nice for me. Though I do kind of like San Fransisco and wish I could try living there just once (although it's a bit expensive I think...)

You guys--what have you been doing with your lives? You need to visit!

It's just kind of weird to go traveling within the country I was born in. I kind of can't explain it.

But when you've lived here

The motivation to explore America kind of wanes. Which is entirely unfair of me, but it's hard to help it.

Catch you guys later. I have to pick up my niece from high school. Then I am going to hangout with my nephew and bullshit for the rest of the day.

I think there is this idea that we are boring and not worth a look. And depending on what you're looking for, we kind of are. If you don't want to look at beautiful scenery and do stuff outdoors, we're probably extremely boring.

urban sprawl is no fun Alberto

Yeah, there is so much more that the US has to offer! I am ashamed to admit I haven't seen much of the US myself though (mostly the western third.) This is something I would really like to fix.

So many trees. Looks lovely.

Cities and towns are not the main reason you should see the western US.

Haha, it's definitely a draw! It's hard for me to get used to sales tax elsewhere.

If we're going to be posting pictures of the places we live:

Okay, technically I don't live directly in Eugene at the moment, but I have lived there many years in the past and still go there several times a week.

This is home. A little city in the middle of nowhere.
Hey, I was just there for a film project about a week ago.

I live nearer to Cleveland. Across the street from my house is a horse farm, down the road an alpaca farm, and at the end of the street a now-vacant house previously owned by an illegal weapons dealer.
