I feel like we've all owned a Superman shirt at some point. It is totally an unwritten South Asian rite of passage.

One time a little girl came up to me at Wal-Mart and asked if I was the real Superman and I leaned in and went "Don't tell anyone, but yes" and then took off my glasses.

She had the biggest ":O" face I have ever seen on a kid.

And for the uniformed, its Real Picture-GAF, not Roleplaying-GAF.... but thats just our little secret.

All I could see is that parrot Joey saying "role-playing, roleplaying" while you try to say this is "real" picture gaf. You know he's right.

Probably not, but we might have at least made some more personal connections with other Gaffers. So the 'minimum' result will at least be that you have connected to more guys and gals here than usual

I really feel we do need a plan for us to still talk as it's kind of weird and random to actually talk about random things in other threads and PM's don't include everyone and are too private. Then again we are only a week into January and we all may be sick of each other by the end.

Can't do it man... My old avatar goes so much better with my user name. Plus I don't really like looking at myself all that much. Still, it's a fun short little experiment. I definitely do find myself acting like less of a jackass now.

That's pretty much my default expression. I've heard a few times that it makes people feel stupid when they talk to me, but I don't do it intentionally.

To be honest I've been flip-flopping a lot on it. There are a few things which I find really irritating, like the juvenile attitude towards homosexuality and the general tendency towards extreme stereotypes; Barrett is sooooooo borderline, I honestly think they would revisit his dialogue if and when they do decide to remake it after all.

And then there are things I find really intriguing about it too, like the design of Midgard, which still comes across as fairly impressive even nearly 15 years later, and in spite of being rendered at 320x240. So I dunno, I'll keep at it over the next month or so and see where I end up.
 
Time and experience has made me far harsher on FFVII than I probably should be.

But yeah, the awful translation really holds the (already not-great) story back. What they added on top of it in recent years certainly doesn't help.

If you end up enjoying FFVII in a bubble, keep it that way. Dirge of Cerberus and Before Crisis (and to a far lesser but still noticeable extent, Crisis Core) kind of don't help.
