Yeah, it was a dumb way to end the show but watching his shit get rocked was pretty satisfying.

You see, it's actually all part of building up her character. The fanservice is even creepy. That's how you can tell Evangelion is a great anime.

After half of the city gets totalled it's a lot harder to keep it a 'secret'.
Keeping the actual Eva a secret would be impossible under those circumstances, but you could at least stop the information leaking from a newbie.

I think I wrote a short piece about how that part of the series differs from it's movie version. Of course, I understand why they the changes they did because a movie shouldn't have the same pacing and structure as a bunch of TV episodes.

I really must return to this topic again because I feel that it hasn't really been discussed enough of the course of this thread/last thread/every anime thread even those not about Evangelion/the whole history of the internet.
You see
Shini may be the protagonist, but he's never set up as a hero. Right from the start it's pretty clear that he's not cut out for this kind of thing and he only becomes involved through necessity. Just look at how he reacts to his very first encounter with an Angel in episode two.
The 'coward' character, or the 'mentally weak' character or the 'guy who doesn't want to fight' character has been a round since long before Evangelion. Just look at films, books, poems and plays about war.
Rather than undergoing some magical, Hollywood transformation into becoming a total bad ass Shinji stays consistent to his character right until the end. This might not be what the audience wants to see, or how characters of this type usually develop in anime, but there's a believable coherence to it. When repeatedly faced with traumatic, painful and extremely dangerous situations one does not necessarily 'man up'.

If I remember correctly, k-On did drive sales of instruments, at least temporairly. I can't speak to Nodame Cantabile's effect. I guess Guitar Hero/Rockband had that effect in the US as well.K-On! 11

So hyped for Nise. Going to the be the second best show of the season easily.

This is it. This is the reason the Japanese brought anime into the world. It's everything I could have hoped for and more besides from the first episode of the final season. Then again, all 3 previous seasons started off with great first episodes and then went their separate ways thereafter. I'm hoping this final season will combine the humor of season 1 with the epic shit seem sporadically in season 2. We'll all pretend season 3 never happened, of course. This is J.C. Staff's final chance at ZnT, and this time the LN author is supervising it personally.
The board is set, and the pieces are moving. The staff from the the first season are back together, Rie Kugimiya is ready with her best tsundere voice and all the other cast members are reunited, and yes, it is GLORIOUS.
