End of Evangelion

So thats good?

Bodacious Maid Pirates 01:

Um... Kuroneko? I think you're on the wrong set. All that late-night programming and doujin writing must have hurt your eyes 'cause you're wearing glasses now. And you seem to have had a slight growth spurt since we last saw you. o_o Can we expect to see this new height in the 2nd OreImo season? :-P

Anyhoo, the show. The artwork was nice and the animation acceptable, if nothing special. I guess I was expecting something called "Bodacious Space Pirates" to be a little more... I dunno... bodacious? That's the problem ultimately with this first episode. There just isn't enough "umph" to carry it through. And um... yeah the whole "legal pirates" bit is kind of an oxymoron so that's dumb. I get why they did it (the girl is supposed to be "innocent" and not a criminal so they have to come up with some bullshit reason for it to be "legal" and thereby okay for her to take over, etc.), but it's still bullshit. And last I checked the rank of Captain isn't usually a bloodline inheritance, usually the 1st mate becomes Captain if the old one kicks the bucket, yes?

I'll give this another episode since I find the artwork agreeable, but so far it's not living up to its name. :-/

I thought legal pirates were real, I dont remember people complaining about it for Barbossa in PotC.

Legal pirates is just a really dumb way to talk about privateers or corsairs.

So I guess a better term would be "sanctioned" pirates I suppose? Yeah I know that's kind of the same thing, but I just personally feel the implication is different enough for the distinction.

Zero no Tsukaima F 01:

More of the same. If you've seen the prior seasons you know exactly what to expect here. Some decent story so far, but the bickering between Saito and Louise is getting as old as Lina Inverse flat jokes. Seriously Siesta, just chain Saito down and have your way with him. I'd pay to watch that. XD

I mean I understand the whole show was going for the gritty underworld and poor area theme, but I would have liked to see a really big and modern city make an appearance to show contrast which didn't happen. Also it doesn't look that good in real life, but neither does many of the things portrayed in anime such as big boobs.

Most of the time boobs don't look good in anime either.

That's right. If anything Ezlac is judging all
single mothers and saying they must have done something wrong!

Kinda looking like that tbh.

Its implied that some were basically that though, supposedly pirates who are allowed to still do what they do but to the company's or the country's rival instead.

The term just sounds really weird due to the strong meaning of each word.

For some reason the seriousness of this conversation amuses greatly.

If your only knowledge of something comes from 4chan, I suggest it's best not to express it at all without fact checking to avoid serious embarrassment.

I checked Scamco's site before posting, you know.

Did you really just watch the full Evangelion TV series (w/director's cuts) and EoE within a 31 hour period
You're insane

Privateers were pretty common back in the day. Countries employed them to harass trade primarily in the Caribbean but still remain with a good deal of plausible deniability. However, the US used privateers all the time during the US Revolutionary War, and similarly, so did both sides during the American Civil War. The concept is actually not that ridiculous and is pretty well embedded in the history of the Americas.

The ED of Kill me Baby is so catchy.

Help!
This song makes me want to go out in a pimp suit with dark sunglasses and just strut.

Smoke weed, fuck bitches, make money. Truth.

Massive animation improvement. I remember the previous three seasons to be very stiff. While still very budget-constrained, F looks a lot more fluid than before. J.C. Staff already exceeded my expectations!

Plot-wise it's just more Zero no Tsukaima... in the Vatican! That means harems, love triangles, Kugilolis being tsundere, and Saito kicking arse when he's not fondling someone's breasts. Oh God I missed this show so much.

I thought "because it looks cool" was the only real reason anything happened in SKU anyway?
Miki's stopwatch is not quite on the same level as all the Judeo-Christian imagery in Eva.

:-/

"A privateer is a private person or ship authorized by a government by letters of marque to attack foreign shipping during wartime." wikipedia

But don't let that stop you from being an idiot.

And if I recall correctly the show mentioned it was a legal thing, that the letter of marque could only be passed on within the family. But they gave a somewhat plausible explanation, there's worse BS floating around in anime these days.

Chihayafuru 8:
Great episode. It's good that they finally have a full group, and I enjoyed seeing Chihaya pushed to her limit this time around rather than simply coasting by like she has for the past few episodes. I think there's a good dynamic amongst the group, so I'll be interested to see how things go for all of these characters from here on out.

Couple more hours at work then I'm gonna marathon the rest of Gurren Lagann, on episode 18 right now.

Rossiu seems like he's a real asshole now.

They were called privateers. Some of the most famous pirates in history were "legal pirates", including Sir Francis Drake and Klaus Störtebeker.

So that's probably the inspiration for the whole Shichibukai thing in One Piece?
I actually learned something today!

As far as the British were concerned, if you sailed the seas attacking French ships and being friendly with British ships, you were doing well by them. Vice-versa also applies.

Nichijou 04

The most exciting part of this show is getting to a skit that I actually understand and can appreciate, otherwise 90% of it is lost on this foreigner. The OP and ED are absolutely amazing though.

Does that mean you liked it?

So thats good?

I don't know, a lot of dangerous stuff got inserted into my thought process through a visual medium and my brain ultimately doesn't know what to make of it, making me re-evaluate what I do and don't like.

On paper, Shinji and Asuka should have annoyed the living crap out of me, but they didn't, maybe I can attribute this to the 90's phenomena where anime could do no wrong, but I am retrospectively watching NGE/EOE in 2012 indicating that the show did indeed stand the test of time so the conventional degradation of current anime and their tropes in the modern era are not wholly applicaple.

However Shinji did indeed piss me of in EoE which shows that his character type does mean I actually don't like him and I was goading the character to pull the trigger when he had a gun to his head when he was curled up like a bitch. But then I realised, that maybe he wanted to die, maybe he wanted to be relieved from being weighed down by the constricts of living and by following a petty emotion of hate I would have no longer been able to enjoy seeing him suffer. This is how wars between man are born.

The entire point of the EoE is that
he doesn't want to do any of that at the end
