I think Bret talked about it in his book that Owen was scared to call. He had never hurt anyone before and what happened with Austin totally freaked him out to the point where he never really talked about it

Hell, I'd be kinda shaken after something like that. I mean, what would you say?

I'd say it's either Owen's fall, Mitsuharu Misawa dying in-ring from a damaged spinal cord, or Bruiser Brody's murder, considering how little was done to save his life and that no one was ever held accountable.

Death

On July 16, 1988, Brody was in the locker room before his match with Dan Spivey in Bayamón (a city near San Juan, Puerto Rico), when José Huertas González, a fellow wrestler and booker,[5] asked him to go into the shower to discuss business. Brody entered the shower stall and a few minutes later a scuffle ensued, followed by two groans, loud enough for the entire locker room to hear. Tony Atlas ran to the shower and saw Brody bent over and holding his stomach. Atlas then looked up at González and saw him holding the knife.[6] When the paramedics arrived, Atlas carried Brody downstairs to the waiting ambulance, as, due to Brody's enormous stature, paramedics were unable to lift him.[6] González, who always maintained his innocence, was initially charged with first-degree murder but was later reduced and tried for involuntary homicide. In January 1989, González was acquitted on all counts, citing self-defense.[6]

What in the fuck? Dude goes into a shower alone with him, stabs him, Atlas see he has a knife was seen and is acquitted from self-defense?!?!

Didn't the guy who stabbed Brody claim self defense and get off? What a crock of shit.

Yeah, the whole thing was bat-shit crazy - in his book Stan Hansen alludes to the authorities all being in the pay of the promoters (the Colon's) and blames the ridiculously slow paramedic response on why Brody ultimately died (it took them an hour to arrive), also mentioning that anyone (except for Atlas) who witnessed the events that led up to the stabbing refused to testify, presumably because they were scared of repercussions from the promoters.

Wow this is some sad shit. Tony Atlas talks about it, here.

Possibly very old news but I was on WWE12 earlier and there was a message saying that Brodus Clay was coming soon as a free DLC character.

Owen's fall was a tragic accident that never should have happened. It's been made even worse by Martha Hart denying WWE the right to doing anything with Owen's likeness so we can't even get a good career retrospective on the man. Owen was a legend and will never get the recognition he deserves.

what sad is the Colons or anyone connected to it were not blackballed enough from everyone else afterwards or wrestlers still went there for a paycheck

I assure you that the Brodus Clay DLC will debut next monday

I understand why she refuses, but despite the cruel way his life ended, his career should be celebrated and honoured. He should be in the Hall of Fame, have DVD retrospectives of his many great moments (the ribbing he got up to alone would fill a DVD), make sure newer wrestling fans know who he is and why he was so beloved, etc.

Hopefully she changes her mind at some point, because he has a legacy that shouldn't be forgotten.

THQ's DLC method for online WWE '12 is horrible. It doesn't make people download the Free DLC thus half the lobbies are without DLC and you cannot play with them. Either do something so people can play with another despite not having Alicia Fox DLC or make them download her, as the file is only about 100 mbs.

I hope so Ithil, the man deserves to be honored. He made King of the Ring far cooler than before Angle and Booker were doing it.

Martha Hart sounds like such a nugget

Did Owens wife get a huge cash payoff after Owens death or something?

Seems like she could make some decent money letting wwe release some Owen hart stuff but maybe she is already ok for cash

I'm currently in a watch-through (won't say a rewatch because most it I didn't see when it was on first) of WWF 1998, and Owen is currently in the Nation. He's so damn entertaining in the ring.

I would overall prefer him to Bret in the ring, and that is obviously saying something. Outside of the ring, preferring Owen is a given.

The Hart family were paid $18 million after his death and the obvious lawsuit.

- As noted before, 2012 WWE Hall of Fame tickets will go on sale to the general public this Saturday, January 14th. They are priced from $41.40 to $93.65.

WWE is using the American Airlines Arena for the ceremony this year, which would indicate they are planning to induct a major name. In the past, WWE has only used larger arenas for the ceremony when big names were being inducted like Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.

Only guess I have is The Rock.

WWF 1998 was so good. 1998-2002, such good times.

Well they have The Rock as the obvious choice for this year, but also Macho Man and Edge, as two that may or may not get in.

Edge may have retired now, but they may wait a few years before inducting him, though he definitely is getting inducted.

Macho Man obviously brings his own issues, but I would hope his death would warrant most of them being put aside.

Course that's three big names, and they normally only do one huge name a year at most.

HHH. He will induct himself.

did you guys ever see that legendary match where he fought THE UNDERTAKER AND ENDED HIS STREAK?

And that one time that Heath Slater turned into a werewolf and went crazy backstage and Triple H put him down with a pedigree.

or that time that Andre the Giant came back for the ultimate challenge and Hx3 volunteered himself to that challenge.

Or the time he saved the entire arena by himself when german terrorists took over Monday Night Raw

Attitude Era died when Real Ass Stone Cold died. Everything after that was some sort of zombie version of Attitude.

Seriously, look at this man!

If Austin came back for 1 more match, I'd force him to watch his Survivor Series 96 promos over and over for 3 months straight.

I swear this sounds like it was after the Montreal Screwjob though it wasn't right?

Ugh, HHH's inevitable induction to the HOF is going to be unbearable.

I would imagine Cena, Orton, Taker, HHH, Mick Foley, Rock, Edge and perhaps Kane are all guaranteed to be in the HOF.

Others remain to be seen.

It was a year before it. Bret/Austin heading into Surivivor Series 96 was fucking intense. The entire PPV was built around them. The match had no gimmick, no title. Real meets Real.

Yeah I remember that last one, when HHH saved Stephanie by pushing Alan Rickman off the arena roof right?

I heard HHH scored a 50 under par the first time he ever golfed.
I heard, when HHH was born, the skies parted and the mountains shook with fear.
I heard HHH slayed all the ice giants with his mighty hammer...of sledge.

I loved Owen Hart. Wrestlemania X was the first WWE show I ever watched. Owen vs. Bret blew me away and I was so mad when Bret won the title at the end. "Owen beat him! Owen deserved the belt!" I yelled. :lol

chris jericho making fun of how vince takes a stunner was great :D
It is literally the 2nd worst Stunner sell of all time. I was so happy when Jericho shit all over it on the Blu-Ray.

That movie is based upon true story of Hunter's first night in WWF.

I heard that when he drinks that bottle of water and spits it out it turns to a dangerous acidic material.

Wasn't it that Macho didn't want in unless his brother and father were let in as well or something?

Now I've made the mistake of looking at the list of wrestlers who died during their careers on Wikipedia. It's a long list.

I had no idea Dino Bravo died such a violent death.

Where's this now?

Edit: Nevermind. Found it. It's under deaths during sports career or something.

Man, I wish I hadn't looked at that list - is there any bigger waste of talent than the 2nd generation Von Erichs?

David Von Erich - died 1984 from a heart attack
Mike Von Erich - died 1987 from a drug assisted suicide
Chris Von Erich - died 1991 after shooting himself
Kerry Von Erich - died 1994 after shooting himself

:/

Also, I keep forgetting that John Tenta/Earthquake died a few years back.
