Next week is Nadeko, right? I'm scared
This was just the preview, too.

I'm scared. Hopefully they go back to some fanservice that's less pedo but now with the overabundance of lolis in this new season, who knows, he has a gauntlet of girls to molest.

Does the Crunchyroll app on Android show ads? I have been using it yesterday to catch up on Gintama and was surprised that no ads interrupted me. Wondering if it's a bug or if the app just doesn't show ads.

I'll have to do some studying on historical pirates. It's never been a subject I've cared for so I never really looked up some of this stuff. All I've ever seen of pirates is from movies, etc.

I don't know, a lot of dangerous stuff got inserted into my thought process through a visual medium and my brain ultimately doesn't know what to make of it, making me re-evaluate what I do and don't like.

On paper, Shinji and Asuka should have annoyed the living crap out of me, but they didn't, maybe I can attribute this to the 90's phenomena where anime could do no wrong, but I am retrospectively watching NGE/EOE in 2012 indicating that the show did indeed stand the test of time so the conventional degradation of current anime and their tropes in the modern era are not wholly applicaple.

However Shinji did indeed piss me of in EoE which shows that his character type does mean I actually don't like him and I was goading the character to pull the trigger when he had a gun to his head when he was curled up like a bitch. But then I realised, that maybe he wanted to die, maybe he wanted to be relieved from being weighed down by the constricts of living and by following a petty emotion of hate I would have no longer been able to enjoy seeing him suffer. This is how wars between man are born.

This is probably a product of what was going on in my life when I first watched Evangelion but I could never hate Shinji. I empathized with him. I wanted to see him learn to love himself so Evangelion was somewhat of a personal journey for me. Today I hate the bevy of copycat weak protagonists spawned by the success of Evangelion (FUCK SHOE) but no matter how many times I come back to Eva I can never hate Shinji.

Because their characters, while having a lot of flaws, are really well done so you can sympathize with them to a certain extent. After rewatching eva some time ago, I noticed that I had really come to appreciate how much work was put into making them who they are.

EoE is about how he'd prefer to live over
dying and living a delusion
, though it certainly makes you think the opposite for a while.

The last time I watched something NGE related was for 10/11 years. And I'm pretty happy about it but I feel like I'm not part of the gang here anymore.

Zero no Tsukaima F 1:
It begins. No matter the quality, I'm just glad to have these characters back on my screen. There's just something relaxing about seeing Louise and Saito's antics again. The first episode had just the right mix of funny and sincere moments, and the ending was great.

I've only seen the first episode, and I don't really have that much of an inclination to see any more of it. In a post-Eva world I've seen so many imitators - a few excellent, some good, many bad - that I've never really felt much of a need to watch it. I also have a terrible habit of assuming I won't like popular shows because everyone else does...

Speaking of which, I finished Madoka this weekend, after giving up at episode 3 because I was massively bored by it, even taking into account
Mami's death
. The rest of the series is much better, and the show eventually develops some depth to its characterisation
even if I wanted to smack Sayaka around the head a bit - JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO WEAR A STUPID RING THING DOESN'T MEAN KYOSUKE WON'T LOVE YOU, YOU MORON!
. I normally don't care for Urobochi's writing but for a fantastical premise I thought the dialogue was surprisingly well presented, even put into the mouths of young teenager girls. There's also surprisingly little fanservice (beyond cutesy costumes etc.) which made me very happy indeed.

There's still something missing for me, though. The visual flair of the show reminded me a lot of Petit Cosette (without the incoherent horror narrative) and there are some moments of well-executed animation, but I kept wanting something to visually "wow" me. The Labyrinths are crazy, but much of what you see in Madoka is just Shinbo's usual box of tricks, and I've seen him do much more interesting things in lesser shows (like Ef, for instance).

I guess in a year that gave us Penguindrum, which was just so clever visually (and although messier as a narrative more interesting to me personally), I'm quite hard to please.

So after skimming the last 30 or so pages I kept seeing the following shows mentioned frequently:

-Evangelion
-School Days
-TTGL
-K-ON!
-Utena
-Nisemonogatari
-Wandering Son
-Usagi Drop

Luckily, I've had the pleasure of experiencing and finishing them all except for Utena (currently on episode 30) and obv Nise.

Can recommend all of them to ya'll for some lulz and entertainment purposes.

BluWacky, did you ever end up finishing Mouryou no Hako?

Not yet - I have to concentrate on Mouryou no Hako, and pay attention to the dialogue and shit like that.

I watched another episode, but I'm only up to episode 5 so most of the good characters aren't even really in it yet (having read Summer of the Ubume a year or so ago I know who to expect).

Am I allowed to be a tiny bit genuinely interested in Akito? It's Kazuki Akane directing, after all...

(yes, I know, you could say the same thing about Goro Taniguchi, but...)

I'm not sure what you're suggesting sir. Are you saying we're not all genuinely interested? I sure am! :D

Don't get excited by Michiko to Hatchin. It starts off strong and interesting but the ending was fucking awful. Best thing about the show is the art and the opening. The depiction of those parts of Brazil was good but I'm disappointed that they decided to just skip some of the non favela looking parts.

Dame it , It had to come from a poster with good taste now am bit worried, well most anime ending suck anyways I have long become use to it at this point, am loving it so far, it’s fresh and it’s taken me outside that boring tokyo highschool setting which am very thankful for.

The only they can ruin it at this point is if "That" highschool kid who's bloody everything showed up to take the role of main character from our heroine.

Please tell me that doesn't happen :(

It looks like it'll take Code Geass to show everyone how to Code Geass.

Yea since Star Driver and Guilty Crown (it seems) massively failed on that front.

But will this actually do it though? We'll see.

Only nami goes round stealing treasure but only from other pirates, but they do steal treasure from a town once.

That Nami thing was somewhat temporary and had a specific purpose though.

If its the same place i'm thinking that ended up being a non event
