I realized it's the eyes makes up my opinion on good character design.
Unrealistic big eyes? :D

I somehow stopped me from watching the Utena movie, I can't stand repetition[Is there any?] so I will jump into it after SB - The Last Party and go through it already...

Kill Me Baby 01
Lot's to laugh, not sure what's to expect, but ready for more!

Norageki
Ironic ending
, but the rest was kinda senseless.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai 12
Ending was meh, I'm waiting for a sequel with more action as in the first half of the series.

[Michiko & Hatchin]

If age is the real sticking point here then it we're talking about a different issue -
whether persons of a certain age should have children or not and whether they should avoid that outcome at all costs. I have no horse in that race.

But many, if not most, children are accidents. Single parenthood is a condition that is always caused by one party abandoning the other. Or dying, I suppose. The absentee parent is the irresponsible one.

Yes the whole basis of my argument is that I feel that she's too young to have a child.

[Michiko e Hatchin]

I don't think we have much material on Hatchin's adolescence to be able to call her that. And you know teenagers are fucking idiots anyway. I've seen some of the most intelligent girls in my middle and high school years undone by drugs and sex. For what it was, Hatchin turned out pretty okay!

Even if these girls are book smart it doesn't necessarily make them mature and responsible. It all comes down to a person's character but I guess you're right that I guess it wasn't that bad.

You have to take into consideration that she
has to basically rely on just herself from the moment Michiko returns to jail. It isn't hard to think that she may have fucked up here and there without some type of guardian figure to guide her, and indeed I think that was the point of that scene. Life went on, and Hatchin could have turned as bad as Michiko, but didn't. Her life was not a reflection of Michiko's, and she managed to fuck up and succeed in her own ways.

I don't think it is stereotypical at all. In fact, I believe that's very empowering.

It's not offensive at all. I'm just looking at it from the point of Hatchin's character development and saying it doesn't sound jarring or out of the left field.

As a child she was pretty independent given how her guardians treated her and Michiko was hardly a positive role model. I think the point of the scene was to show how she was doing and that she was happy, but it doesn't matter if that was their point what I took away from it is that they changed her character to something I didn't like. I personally don't feel that Hatchin could have become as bad as Michiko, since well Michiko was committing crimes since she was young. Hatchin always seemed to reprimand Michiko for doing something that was along those lines. I think it's stereotypical in another sense but I feel like that part may just be me being a bit too sensitive about how a Brazilian girl was portrayed.

Whoa *adds gunsmith cats to watchlist*

Thi is a great idea. It is more like a three part movie but you will totally love it.
rally is the best.

Really should let the Utena ending sit for a day or two before going into the movie. The mind needs time to recover and adapt to the new levels of fabulous it has achieved.

Gunsmith Cats is great because it's an American movie that takes place in Chicago, America, where everyone speaks American and does American things. Because it's America.

Ano Natsu de Matteru
episode 1

Oh, look, it's
Please Teacher, the second coming. I expected a slice of show...not alien girls. At least the red head is sweet and not a tsundere. Thank GOD.
I'll have to wait for subs.

Also, no KOTOKO. Boo.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY "KUGILOLI"

Zero no Tsukaima Futatsuki no Kairi - Complete

Baka baka baka baka Inu, urusei, ero Inu baka baka I-i-it's not like I'm marrying you because I love or anything, baka baka baka.

I watched season 2 why? Because I can. Louise is the staple insufferable kugiloli add infinitum throughout. BWAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah, all of a character's expressiveness comes from the eyes more than anything else. For comedy, they can make the character do weird facial reactions, but for the real "Spielberg" shots, the eyes do all the work.

Bodacious Space Pirates 1

Those space pirates don't seem very bodacious to me. No one said "cowabunga" and not one slice of pizza was eaten the entire show. So far this seems like flagrant false advertisement.

Another 1

Nothing really hooked me this episode. And like Un-go its not doing a very good job of keeping the mystery mysterious. I guess I'll stick with it for now but it better do something interesting soon.

I love Chihayafuru's character designs (well Chihaya specifically). Its just drawn so elegantly.

Also lol at CWarrior saying HanaIro has generic character design and then defending One Piece. This is why no one takes you seriously.

There's no need to be rude about it.

I happen to think both have generic character design.

lol,
alien girls
? I guess it won't be as tear jerking as ghost loli girls. Although there's drama to be had from . . . fuck, E-T-go-home?

Getting a major Corpse Party vibe from this. The ambiance and mood is there, but the content isn't just yet. Another show with potential that could really go either way.

I think you might need an intervention.

Does she always have to call him a filthy mongrel and shit?
If a girl said that to me she would be booted to the curb quick.

Some men are just born masochists.

OP's character designs are far from generic. It's just a YMMV art style.

Natsume Yuujinchou 4... 2

I still love NeoGAF cat. Dude really should be the forum's mascot.

Anyway, I think the arc episodes seem to be the weakest part of the series. In the end, nothing is really resolved, which creates this false sense of continuity that really isn't needed. Maybe I'm over serialization as a TV concept and I'm okay with theme as the connecting thread, because the episodic "help a ghost in need and then give them their name back" thing works perfectly fine for me.

The only end game from the "big bads" is that Natsume ends up outing himself to his family/friends, but I just get the feeling that this isn't a show that is going to go there (at least any time soon), so it just feels like a distraction from the better thematic parts of the show.

I can't see how anyone could say that One Piece has generic character designs. If you want to say they aren't good, then fine, but One Piece has some pretty far out there designs. They're about as far from generic as you can get.

Hmm, I have to agree with Geneijin about Nise 1. It just doesn't capture the same feel as Bake. It's not really the abundance of lolis, either - even in the snail arc you had individual conversations (like the top of episode 3) and even episodes (5) that were more memorable and distinctive than anything in Nise so far.

I'd like to believe that focussing on Kanbaru & Senjou will somehow magically rectify this, but it's Shaft-o, so quality will likely only drop further.
It's an re-introduction episode though. Heck, they even structured it so that Senjou would appear right at the beginning, before flashing back to pseudo-exposition land.

Or maybe all the quality went into upcoming Kizumonogatari and Madoka movie. Surprising Shaft got the manpower and budget to do this.

Even with AnoHana's director, AnoNatsu is supposed to be part of the Please Teacher/Twins franchise. It's a fanservice-driven romcom, not a dorama.

How does that change anything I said, tho?
Because I feel like you're expecting something that such an episode isn't necessarily designed to deliver. If anything, Sentrollgahara was basically the kick-start that was put there just for people to hang onto while they got to the other stuff.

[Nisemonogatari]

Er... Yeah, but then again, we're only one episode in, so I don't know that this comparison is entirely fair... ^^;

I kinda feel like I mostly show up to shatter dreams and hopes, but you shouldn't expect a lot of Kanbaru overall...
You will mostly spend time with (not heavy spoilers, but in case you really don't want to know anything)
the Araragi siblings (obviously), Senjôgahara, Hanekawa, Shinobu, and a few new characters
. The other characters only get one, maybe two scenes / conversations, and that's it (until the next TV series, anyway).

It was already like that in the novel though.

People would have revolted if Senjougahara didn't get any screentime.
