One of the best aspects of the show is music. I felt like they really captured that 'classy bar' setting in the music (even if Eden Hall isn't really all that majestic). I listen to the ost pretty often still. The opening and ending theme follow in that same sense. I really like the ED in particular that it's a live action sequence in a bar ended with the cocktail of the week being served. Those little touches really make the experience richer.

I should hunt down the OST. It would make a great contrast to the classic rock I listen to when I'm on the road.

Hmm, I have to agree with Geneijin about Nise 1. It just doesn't capture the same feel as Bake. It's not really the abundance of lolis, either - even in the snail arc you had individual conversations (like the top of episode 3) and even episodes (5) that were more memorable and distinctive than anything in Nise so far.
I'm not going to be hanged for mutiny?

It's an re-introduction episode though. Heck, they even structured it so that Senjou would appear right at the beginning, before flashing back to pseudo-exposition land.
Unbridled fanservice in the form of Senjougahara's barrage in the opening scene was a turnoff.

According to Otona Anime magazine vol.23, Nisemonogatari was announced to be 11 episodes long. Director Shinbo Akiyuki intended to reproduce the high pace of the conversation of the characters in the novel with the relatively short length of the series. Shinbo also said he wanted to animate all the Monogatari novels and catch up with the newly published Koimonogatari. There has been twelve Monogatari novels published so far and the whole series will be concluded by the next three volumes, Tsukimonogatari, Owarimonogatari, and Zoku Owarimonogatari, to be released this year.
PRAISE BE TO SHINBO

Yeah, this is another thing. What do you mean by overcompensation, Hito? Being persistent in convincing others to recognize and adopt their opinion? Don't see anything else Cwarrior is doing.
It was a dig at his apparent need to downplay criticism of One Piece art with 50 embedded images.

Dude, Forester's posts are FILLED with overcompensation. More with Nodame than anything else, but he definitely has some regarding Utena and Princess Tutu.

Didn't really think I mentioned Nodame that much. Especially when it hasn't already been brought up...

See, the real problem is that he's been trying to get everyone to check out Violinist of Hameln and nobody ever takes notice, and your omission only continues this.

Well, that's because people should check it out :)

You mean the theme for the arc as in like the narrative theme and not the rock songs by the crazy Japanese man? Because the latter I cannot help with...

From what I can recall of the last two arcs, the duellists now have complicit/conscious/consenting "brides" from whom to draw their swords, unlike in the student council & black rose arcs. So, vaguely, it is more about the strength of the relationship between the duellists and their "brides" this time around - ofc, doubly so for Utena and Anthy hence the changed nature of both stair ascension and sword-drawing scenes.

Also, Akio. & cars.

Ahh, makes sense now. Thanks!

My mind is playing some tricks, wondered why I looked up chaos instead of steins for a couple of seconds and changed the search inbetween :p, it's 5am anyway, chaos;head==bad. It actually hold me up from watching the second for a long time.

Lagrange 01

Madoka's kinda like a selfless version of Haruhi Suzumiya; athletic, multitalented, energetic, a bit lacking in common sense...she even has her own weird club.

There is an awful lot of fanservice. Can't remember another shower scene showing quite that much sideboob.

Lan's certainly direct. I appreciate that she puts more effort into mimicking normal human behavior than other Rei clones.

I like the robot's flowing, organic aesthetic. Reminds me of Eureka 7 or Aquarion, with some Simoun in the glowing light-trails.

Was that a...
German suplex?!
Just for that I'm on board for the rest of the show, no matter what.

Nisemonogatari 01

That SHAFT art style, that Senjougahara cruelty...makes me nostalgic.

Hachikuji is meta as fuck.

I'm not sure what I just watched, but I think I enjoyed it. I hope that doesn't get me put on some FBI watchlist.

Moretsu Pirates 01

Even in a future space opera, there's no escaping maid cafes, I guess. Never knew that Japanese borrowed "anachronistic" as "anakuro"; you learn something new every day.

I think that's the first time I've seen the "mysterious character shows up later as a transfer student" bit done with a teacher.

Mm, that is one damn good-looking chocolate parfait.

It was a dig at his apparent need to downplay criticism of One Piece art with 50 embedded images.

Over exaggerating a little there, the criticism was one piece having generic character design and generic art, why go on rant when I can post images and let the gaffer make up there mind.

As a child she was pretty independent given how her guardians treated her and Michiko was hardly a positive role model. I think the point of the scene was to show how she was doing and that she was happy, but it doesn't matter if that was their point what I took away from it is that they changed her character to something I didn't like. I personally don't feel that Hatchin could have become as bad as Michiko, since well Michiko was committing crimes since she was young. Hatchin always seemed to reprimand Michiko for doing something that was along those lines. I think it's stereotypical in another sense but I feel like that part may just be me being a bit too sensitive about how a Brazilian girl was portrayed.
I find your impression that Brazilian girls have a stereotype of being
early mothers
to be a bit of a stretch. Teenagers of all nationalities suffer the same problem. It has very little to do with country of origin and almost everything to do with socioeconomic status.
Omedetou!

Now go watch Adolescence Apocalypse ASAP!!!
I shouldn't have dropped Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. :(

I don't think spaming nice art is going to turn off gaffers who are planning to start it, it is however adding fuel to animugaf’s hate for one piece but those gaffers where never going to jump in a long running anime they already hate.

so gaffers get offended by nice art, but no one would have problem If I posted top saimoe loli girls.

to be fair
you should use [quote ] tags for images to people can scale them themselves

The show is pretty bad. Visual novel is apparently good though.

Doesn't seem like my cup of tea. I mean, even 999 was borderline for me, and that is incredibly, incredibly tame.

Don't even talk about Saya.

Anyway, Squid Girl was hilarious. I don't know why I find the puns so amazing but I do. Peacemaker was a lot less serious than I was hoping for :<

The Naruto Shippuden Bonds movie had some really good character moments, even if the plot was completely throwaway and the primary villain was a complete and total ham. Still, I loved the movie-only character. Dunno why. Maybe I just like reverse traps.

Goddamit Cwarrior, you're turning off the few animugaffers that actually plan on starting it :/

Saint Seiya 52-54

Yeah, Leo did not deliver. Had to rely on Cassius to bail Seiya out. We're done with like half the temples and not a single one was legitimately beaten by the Bronze Saints :/
Well the Bronze Saints are indeed kind of useless to be honest. Now's when the shit hits the fan.

God forbid people become more socially amicable as they grow up. Everyone should have one defining personality template always and forever.

You guys are misunderstanding firehawk. He gets hung up over the smallest things. The rapey dudes in HanaIro for instance.

He's not talking about Taichi being a douche as a 7 year old. He's talking about Taichi having this girlfriend they talked about/showed for all of one ep and forgotten.

I was referring to Universal Century, not Unicorn specifically. PdotHarem misunderstood me.

A series containing ZZ cannot possibly be monocle. Plus, everyone should watch Unicorn.

Utena 26

I've a soft spot for Miki episodes it seems. Also the current dueling theme is lost on me. I assume it's clear later.

Princess Tutu 6

What a beautiful little show. Nothing like I expected.
What a sad ending to that ep as well.
Oh My God.

You are like my new bff. <3

But I thought you guys loved pimps!
See, the real problem is that he's been trying to get everyone to check out Violinist of Hameln and nobody ever takes notice, and your omission only continues this.
I'm gonna watch Violinist as soon as I am done with Tutu! I cannot just clone myself in order to watch everything at the same time.

nothing wrong with some sweet, sweet NTR.

Ano Natsu de Matteru 1

Liked it well enough. Will see where it goes from here.

Also, to the few people that posted certain details about this episode and didn't spoiler-tag them: screw you. It might have been easy to pick up on as things happened, but it would have been nice to watch the episode without that knowledge in the back of my mind.

Digimon Xros Wars 54:
Average ending. There were some definite down moments. The Digimemories were completely pointless to the story. Akari and Zenjirou remained useless and took up way too much time that could have been spent with Bugramon or someone who actually had to do with the plot. Shoutmon and everyone came back because magic I guess?

Still, when the Final Xros happened and We Are Xros Heart started playing, I cheered. That was such a punch the air moment. Bugramon also wound up being a surprisingly interesting villain despite not getting nearly enough time. Why couldn't we have seen more of him and his ideals earlier in the series? Overall, it was an okay finale. It was all over the place like much of Xros Wars, but the series as a whole wound up being pretty good despite the rocky start it got off to. Now to watch the sequel.

Lovely stuff by P.A works. The art is just out of the world. Despite the fact that there's not much animation they put a ton of attention to detail in each scene. The character art is really nice as well.

I also got a lot of Hinamizawa chills, love a good mystery.

I'm only into alternate Eva universes these days

Man, I wish Angelic Days had been better. I still liked it, but it wasn't great.

Would anyone be up for an Evangelion rewatch thread? 1 episode a day for a month?

I don't think I have my DVDs with me. :\ Otherwise, I'd be in.

God forbid people become more socially amicable as they grow up. Everyone should have one defining personality template always and forever.

Well, obviously. Why have characters develop when you can have them easily be defined by a single moment.

You guys are misunderstanding firehawk. He gets hung up over the smallest things. The rapey dudes in HanaIro for instance.

Hey, let's not start making wildly inaccurate statements here. Taichi's girlfriend was mentioned in at least two episodes.

Toriko 1

Watched this on a whim. It's amusing to see a world so obsessed with food that the menu for the banquet at a conference of world leaders gets equal billing in the news with the conference itself. Of course, a world obsessed with food makes more sense than a world obsessed with, say, puzzles. I like the sense of adventure, the wild and fantastic creatures that inhabit this world, and Toriko's spirited personality. The little sidekick is annoying by comparison.

This first episode doesn't compel me to watch more the way those of Gintama or YYH did - there's no interesting characters introduced besides the protagonist and the hints at the larger plot and big villain are underwhelming. But I might check out some more down the line.

Don't worry, even the visual novel is utter shit.
