I think Huntsman has a chance to say in this, he claims his ground game down there is pretty good, we will have to see what ace he has up his sleeve.

Otherwise, I think we will see him as a very strong candidate for 2016.
 
Somebody please tell me why the guy who is the former governor of a neighboring state who has been running for president for four years only getting 35% of the vote in a state where his religion does not hurt him is some kind of big deal

It depends on how you interpret the Bible. I'd say it does to a large degree. But modern the GOP with its two big camps of bare-knuckles capitalists and hardcore Christians has created a new prosperity theology that has married atheist Ayn Rand objectivist ideology with Christianity somehow.

This probably contributed to me abandoning religion but it was mostly science.
 
Kind of a shame that Paul is so old. I don't think the man would ever be elected but I think he's one of the people that's keeping the Republican party at least slightly sane in several areas. If nothing else he at least seems genuine. Unfortunately Rand seems like all the bad parts of Paul's beliefs and very few of the good ones, all behind an exterior of douchebaggery.

How much more skin should they put in the game? I mean, it's obvious they're just lazy people who are in it because there's no incentive to work, and being poor is obviously awesome.

Anyway, I live in Atlanta and the folks that I've seen who have been middle class and fallen into poverty... it's heart breaking. I've seen a lot of people take it in stride, but I've seen families fall apart over the money aspect of it. Shit is sad. The income disparity on display can be overwhelming at times.

I actually just got a much better job and it's still crazy how little that salary bump gets me in terms of mobility.

I agree this is mainly for TV. but Ron Paul actually might win. America is fed up. Obama is too cautious (not a terrible thing but we need drastic change).

And yes huntsman is securing Romney the Nomination. This was Huntsmans state to win 170 events etc. If he couldn't win there he will not win the red necks in the south. Ron Paul can win it. taking the anyone but Romney vote
 
Does anyone know why Perry is still in the race?

I can understand Newt to an extent, he's put a lot on SC and the Bain stuff, but Perry seems to just be gunning to get like 10% in SC. And then what?

Exactly. Romney is as plastic as his family. He will say anything to pander to voters. His life mission is to become president. Its so obvious to anyone with half a brain,

People think this is clever to suggest but not really. Religion is extremely compatible with opulence and consumerism to begin with, but the content of the Bible is all over the place (as it is with virtually any other issue). Biblical law endorses strong property rights, Jesus spoke a kind of socialist-anarchism. So the reconciliation is to support free markets and be generous in ones personal life.

Which is why I'm not too worried about the possibility of President Romney. He's far more moderate than he appears this election cycle.

I heard on the POTUS channel on Sirius that Newt is going to be pushing Bain hard here leading up to the primary. There's some group spending more than a million dollars on attack ads focused on Bain. It's weird for a republican to be attacking another for being a successful capitalist.

I don't think it matters much. Romney can outspend whoever attacks him by a gigantic amount. It's not going to hurt him much in the end.
 
Ron Paul showing some real fierce looks while telling the crowd "We are dangerous to the political status quo of this party" then, they started shouting his name and he got back to smiling as normal again:)

The Bible is all over the place with things and that is part of the reason the slight hypocrisy exists. They might be a bit compatible, but the problem and hypocrisy still comes up in how they're practiced and preached in America nowadays. Christians seem to want to project their religion on everyone else and almost force them to do it, so it comes off as odd when helping the poor isn't one of those things.

Bible says don't be gay - Christians want to pass laws against being gay and/or allowing gay marriage

Bible says life is precious - Christians want to pass laws against abortion

Bible says to help the poor - Christians think they should be left alone to their own devices and bootstraps... or in best case scenario I guess they get some charity
 
It's nice to hear Ron Paul fired up. He and his campaign have to realize that they have no shot at the nomination.There's about a 20-25% chunk of the GOP electorate that agrees with his message, but the remaining 75-80% is with Romney, Santorum, Newt, etc. and he will never get them converted to his cause if he hasn't already.

No, he's not. He doesn't have an ideology. He'll do whatever he thinks will get him more power. In Massachusetts that was being a moderate. In this primary, it's being a lunatic right winger. In the general it will be probably a mix of those. When he's president, he'll sign whatever the Republican legislature gives him.

Those who think he'll be a centrist president just because he was a moderate in a liberal state with a liberal legislature are in for a rude awakening.
 
What's hilarious is how unorganized the GOP is. Obama has more campaign offices in New Hampshire then the entire GOP field combined. Hell, Romney only has one
 
Was watching Monday's Daily Show. Did Romney actually brag about the fact that Kennedy had to take out a mortgage in the senate race to beat him? lol. What a terribly insane thing to say.
