You think so? I think the NFC West will be significantly better next year than the AFC West was this year. San Fran obviously, but Seattle and Arizona played good football down the stretch. lol Rams. AFC South could also be significantly improved. I don't see that the NFC North schedule is any easier than it was this year.

I do have faith that the Lions will have a better record next year, although I agree with you in thinking the schedule isn't a cakewalk.

I expect the Bears to take a step back. The Vikings are the Vikings and the Packers are set up for a dynasty run. I expect the Rams to suck and the Cardinals to be hanging around 8-8 again. The Seahawks will, I think, be a playoff contender and the 49ers are here to stay.

Detroit also gets the Falcons and Cowboys who are total wildcards.

The AFC South, though...Titans aren't great, Jags are terrible, the Texans are good but the Colts are terrible. Everybody this year was focused on the offense because of no Manning but the defense and special teams are just horrendous. That's going to take 2-3 years of rebuilding. I don't see them in the playoffs next year--even with Manning.

In the end, it's the NFL and every team can completely turnaround from the year before. They could end up 6-10 and I wouldn't bat an eye.

I've been thinking this going into the past two to three seasons...it still hasn't exactly happened yet. I can't let myself count them out of the race this year, certainly not to steal a game or two against us.

Same here, but there hasn't been that many changes on that defense and they're getting pretty long in the tooth. They also don't have many draft picks. Plus, it's run by Rod Marinelli. The bottom is going to be falling out sooner than later.

BTW.

Whoever comes out of the NFC will beat the shit out of whoever comes out of the AFC.

I think the Steelers would have provided the best game.

So, you think we'd go 0-16 eh?
Funny.

nah, in all seriousness the bucs floor next year is 2-14 and their ceiling is 6-10. the bucs have a shitty secondary and mediocre linebackers. their d-line has some POTENTIAL pieces.

on offense, mediocre QB, mediocre RB, offensive line has some pieces, some decent receivers that are worthless with freeman at qb. i would consider 6-10 very generous but i consider myself a generous kinda guy!

I agree with the part about the Steelers. They were the only team this year that had a good offense and a good defense. Every other team was too heavily slanted on one or the other.

That's certainly how it has looked all season. But you never know which team might catch fire in the playoff like the Giants did a few years ago. I would say the best bet is NE. Their defense can maybe get some momentum going, whereas Joe Flacco definitely will not.

yeah if you got marty i could see a decent season. i'm not sure why he didn't get any opportunities after the chargers. dude goes 14-2, gets fired and then gets no calls in years. i don't understand it. he hasn't won playoff games but he has turned teams around.

i will amend my prediction if you get schottenheimer: 8-8 max

Yeah clearly not Baltimore that beat those Steelers twice this year and was 6-0 against playoff teams.

Clearly.

One word: Flacco.

Five words: Flacco in the Super Bowl.

Two words: 'Nuff said.

Edit: I should have obviously Tebow'd this post.

3 Words: The Super Bowl.
1 Word: Flacco
6 Words: Joe Flacco in the Super Bowl

Steelers would have provided the best game friend. I'm not saying one team is better than the other. The Steelers are much more explosive than the Ravens (blah blah Torrey Smith) and would be able to put up numbers with GB and NO if necessary.

Hou beating Green Bay in the SB or 49ers would be be pretty ideal i think. Houston because Squicken bitch ass getting slapped around for leaving his team.Packers losing cause i want them to lose or 49ers lose so that FMT can't 5-0 anymore.

5-0 bitch! can't wait to win it this year so we can be the only undefeated 6-time winner as well :D

all i want is Giants/Niners. i want to relive my childhood and the several times we crushed Montana's ugly face with LT's uglier one.

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/content/intrigued-schottenheimer-has-positive-meeting-bucs

Longtime NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, the latest candidate to meet with Tampa Bay in its week-long coaching search, came away impressed after today's interview with general manager Mark Dominik and ownership, while hoping he gets the chance to coach what he described as an intriguing young roster of players.

Schottenheimer didn't elaborate on the meeting but said, "I thought it was very positive. I really enjoyed the dialogue and we all agreed that we would speak again in the near future."

Asked why the opportunity to coach the Bucs interests him, Schottenheimer pointed immediately to its youth and the chance to shape the team's impressionable players.

"I think they’ve got some great young players on that team," he said. "They’ve also got some really solid veterans. And when you see the opportunity to work with youngsters and see them develop, that’s always very exciting for every coach. In my particular case, I like to work with kids. I refer to them as kids, even though I know they’re grown men. But I like to give them the benefit of my insight as to what I’ve seen and experienced in this business. I’m a teacher is what I am in my view.

"And to watch these young men take the information that me and the (coaching) staff provide to them and they, in kind, combine that with the skill set that they have, I live vicariously through their play. It’s like it’s me out there doing it."

Schottenheimer acknowledged the Bucs are working through issues that led to this season's 4-12 mark, but he believed the situation is repairable.

"I think they’re committed to finding a way to win," Schottenheimer said. "When I discussed it with them, they are trying to get some things resolved, but at the same time they’re making some headway in that regard. I like the challenge of building things and with as many young players as there are, you’ll get a chance to do that."

Just finished watching "Big Fan" on Netflix. Good film. Available until 1/12. The same guy who wrote "The Wrestler" wrote this story.

Paul Aufiero, a 35-year-old parking-garage attendant from Staten Island, is the self-described "world's biggest New York Giants fan". He lives at home with his mother, spending his off hours calling in to local sports-radio station 760 The Zone, where he rants in support of his beloved team, often against his mysterious on-air rival, Eagles fan Philadelphia Phil. His family berates him for doing nothing with his life, but they don't understand the depth of his love of the Giants or the responsibility his fandom carries.

One night, Paul and his best friend Sal spot Giants star linebacker Quantrell Bishop at a gas station in their neighborhood. They impulsively follow his limo into Manhattan, to a strip club, where they hang in the background, agog at their hero. Paul cautiously decides to approach him, stepping into the rarefied air of football stardom--and things do not go as planned.
