Jets release statement that Schottenheimer informs team he will not return for 2012 #nyj

Looks like Sparano is a likely/possible replacement:

With Bill Callahan to Cowboys & Brian Schottenheimer leaving, next anticipated #Jets move is hiring former Dolphins coach Tony
Sparano as OC

The release itself:

The Jets announced that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has informed them that he will not be returning to the Jets next season. Here are the quotes and excerpts from the press release from the team:

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to return to the New York Jets in 2012,” said Schottenheimer, who was the OC for the past six seasons. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished in the six years I have been here. I am grateful for the relationships that I have with our players and coaches and appreciate the hard work and dedication that went into our success. My family and I would like to thank Rex Ryan and the entire Jets organization and wish them continued success. I look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”

Under Schottenheimer’s direction, quarterback Mark Sanchez recorded four postseason victories as a starting quarterback, the most in team history, and became the fifth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to win 30 career games in his first three NFL seasons, including the postseason. In 2009, the Jets led the NFL and established a team record with 172.3 rushing yards per game. In 2006, quarterback Chad Pennington earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year while wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles combined for the most catches by a wide receiver tandem in franchise history.

“Brian and I talked and I understand his decision to look for a fresh start,” said Head Coach Rex Ryan. “I’d like to thank him for all of his contributions these past three seasons. He’s been right there with me, shoulder to shoulder, and played a key role in our success, helping us to reach two AFC Championship games. As I’ve said before, coaching is in his bloodlines, he has a tremendous work ethic and I consider myself fortunate to have worked with him. He has acquired a lot of experience at a young age and has a bright future in front of him. I know that he will be a successful head coach one day - probably sooner than later.”

Oh man I hope he isnt coming to tampa. I'm so sick of the bucs playing offensive small ball. From grudens conservative WCO to Greg Olson fucking tiny version of the WCO. Man I just want an offensive system with some good spacing between the routes. Some goddamn deep posts and 15 yard out routes and a TE going down the deep middle. Fuck I'm sick of these quick slants and shallow crossing routes.

FFS you would think that with a power RB you would want a passing offense that keeps the secondary back off the line of scrimmage. Either Freeman can complete these passes with timing and accuracy to hit the guys in stride or he cant. If he cant then start looking for someone who can. But enough of these pathetic quick slant offense.

Why bro. Why did we suck again? Why have we sucked since I graduated high school?

Ralph Wilson, not entirely him but mostly.

If you look at some of the front office talent that passed through Buffalo it's even more pathetic.

Think we're on the right track though. One more draft and we should be able to finish above 500! All kidding aside I thought we could've finished 500 this year, but Gailey didn't want to pound rock.

Run the fucking football while you still have an OL.

more creative than Schotty, but adheres to ryan's ground and pound. can't win running the rock in new nfl, need passing. we need a pass first offense. if sanchez isn't that guy, we draft one that can be it.

it's a qb league. if it's a failed experiment it just sets us back further. we need pass first offense. that's what wins. period.

explain. I don't know enough about him aside from his time with the fish.

He's a great OL coach, but then you already had one with Callahan. Like I said earlier, I'm not sure he's ever been a play caller. He doesn't seem like the type to develop young QBs, but I guess you guys wanted Schotty gone no matter what, so . . .

We have the most cupcake schedule any team could hope for next year. If we can't snag a first round playoff loss in 2012, then we're just truly fucked.

Too early to tell, but you are correct. Last time we almost sniffed the playoffs we had a similar schedule.

I just hope they don't reach for a pass rusher in round 1 just to take one. Probably draft Trent Richardson.

at the very least sporano doesn't have any of that pre snap motion garbage. just run the godamn play offense. pretty boy with the iq less than 80 should be less confused this time around.

i hope.

All jokes aside, I really do think Flynn would be a perfect addition to the offense. Yeah, we need help on defense, but half the team was on IR. Fitz is never going to be the answer. We need to cut our losses.

Mularkey better be bringing a good offensive staff with him. Maybe he'll do better not calling the plays. QB coach better be a beast. Gabbert needs a ton of refinement.....and courage juice.

We need help on offense too. Need a big physical receiver who can stretch the field, who doesn't? They're going to make a run at one via draft or FA. Steve is a nice complimentary receiver, and Nelson can work the slot. Easleys the sleeper, no fucking luck, but if he's healthy he may be a player.

Flynn may have more touch but he won't have the same weapons at receiver. We need upgrades at the receiver position, most QBs would struggle. Look at how many QBs in this league just chuck it up and hope their guy comes down with it. We've got no one to chuck it to. They've had opportunities to draft these bigger guys but haven't. Hoping things change.

I look at this way, Fitz is taking a pounding until they find more talent on both sides of the all, pray we've found a better solution by then. They would've drafted Newton if he dropped to 3 so it's not like Fitz has a stranglehold, if they find one they like I'm sure they'll take one. In the meantime acquire talent.

Coordinators make for such easy scapegoats. Hard to be successful when your QB plays like a scared little girl.

It's also hard to be successful if you play for the Redskins.

This picture makes me hope Khan is the type of mogul that Yusif Amir from The Ballad of Gay Tony was. Dude needs to throw money around indiscriminately and toss racial slurs at his players without thinking about it.

So... Donald Sterling?
The return of ground and pound, Sanchez falls deeper into irrelevancy.
Our best QB is Jeremy Kerley anyway.
Joining his dad in Tampa Bay?

Wait....no....we didn't ask for this....this wasn't part of the deal Marty! No....NO!
Hope you guys like slants!!!!
