I like that they haven't forgot about the heart shards. For a moment there I thought the show would all be about Mytho doing his best Akio impression, which is not a bad thing in itself, but you cannot just leave that plot thread hanging forever. It brings some purpose into Ahiru's quest that had been conspicuously absent since the beginning of this cour. She had become a reactive force to the Raven's threats on her classmates and not the Warrior with a Destiny she was in the first half of the show. Ahiru may be girly, but she's a stronger character than most girly girls and even macho protagonists out there.

Tears were shed. I didn't believe you that this show could be such a manly piece. I stand corrected.

Surely there's been a slice of life focused on a group of boys instead of girls, right? This had to have already kind of happened at some point. Either way, I was pleasantly surprised. Actually pretty excited for another episode. That last skit, while long winded, was fantastic coupled with the ED. Loved it.

The anime series does a very good job of hiding the more creepy elements in the games, much to its credit. My long post about the series touches on the anime's desire to be more mainstream and that involves removing creepy wherever it can be found.

CGI pedestrians is one of the worst trends lately. First cars, now this. :|

It's too hard to draw cars because there's no mechanical animators, or something. I kind of understand that because, well it's a different skill set. Yet to draw a crowd you just need to be able to do character animation so they don't really have any excuses.

Cromartie should have it's own designation. It seems like a lot of shows borrow from it's genius. Or maybe Cromartie is a stockpile of pre-existing conventions? Either way it's brilliant. Check out the live-action flick when you're done.

Well that's not hard to understand, drawing individual cels for an entire crowd of people is a lot harder than making a few CG models with basic walking animations. They usually try to keep them a little bit more in the background than that, though.

Tis true! It's the last refuge for the delusional anime fan. That's why things that cover their pervesness up with a "story" are so popular, those who believe they're against the perverse get to fool themselves into thinking that while some people may see the show as perverse in some degree that there's actually a story being told and those who like the perverse enjoy seeing people justify the perversion they're watching. Once a show actually crosses that line it's got to lose some fans as it's no longer bait for those fans that like to believe they're morally superior and they'll recognize it as such.

See, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Bakemonogatari, whatever My Little Sister Can't be this Cute is in Japanese or any show where the cast is initially introduced by having the main help them to some degree just for them to now stick around later even though their time in the sun should have ended. I guess that's most anime. Anyways, yeah, that's my theory. Much the same as yours except the intention is different, it's not that it's less interesting it's that it takes away our plausible deniability and we can no longer pretend that underneath the harem trappings on the surface there's some real shit going on because, well, now there isn't.
