last night I pretty much fell asleep watching CCS which is a great way to fall asleep anyway.
I got through one more episode. Not very good with this marathon thing but Im making progress!
CCS 13
The zoo is pretty neat.
It looks like a substantial security risk though. There is also a fucking awesome giant penguin slide.
Why doesnt my city have a giant penguin slide?
3d is so lame.
The appearance of this clow card was hilarious given what it represented.
As it stands right now, Geass is way too focused on the figure of Lelouch and some other main cast members. That's why the reaction to this side story has been general weak. In the end, it'll basically need to stand up on its own strengths, making the whole Geass tie in pointless.
No, this is really not true at all. Lol. You can't say reaction to Akito is "weak" at all, because there is basically no reaction to it. People can't generally get interested in a concept that has no form. What is the story really about? Who are the characters? What does the animation look like? Is it a TV series? Is it an OVA? Is it a movie? It is internet streaming? When is it coming out? Who is in the voice cast? Who is composing the music?
There is absolutely nothing with making a new Geass anime with brand new characters. Fans of Code Geass have always been interested in Akito, and continue to look forward to whatever they have to announce. It's just that there has nothing announced aside from the barest of information, and it has been like this for two years now.
Tomorrow the project will be formally unveiled, and only then can we see what the reaction is. Anything before that is just pointless assumption.
You know, specially for Blu-ray releases like this one, there are people that buy them without knowing the language included to simply extract the data themselves and re-encode it the way they really want it for their personal use, with the inclusion of previously made subtitles formatted from transcripts. This could even be considered a particularly good option for real quality 'transcodes' depending on the source, dedicated software tools and settings used.

This is yet another manga from this franchise. It's the one with the haremshit. The short summary is, the 16-year old grandson of this alternate universe's Producer-san, who is shown to be an old, yakuza-appearing, white-haired, perpetually-sunglasses wearing man, somehow manages to end up living in a big house with all the idols when Producer-san ends up in the hospital and appoints said grandson as Producer and President in his stead. Haremshit ensues. Yeah, this is pretty much as terrible as you can imagine it to be.
I remember someone was asking in this thread if there was any romance or haremshit or whatever in the anime, if that's what you're looking for in THE IDOLM@STER, this is your manga. I got 3 chapters into this and was like fuck this noise.

So, you're basically agreeing with me? I'm just saying that, the way they've handled this project, Akito will pretty much need to stand out due to its own qualities. It's pretty clear that "Geass side story" as a concept by itself wasn't enough to get a big fan reaction.
If this were Geass R3, I'm pretty sure the reaction to it would be very different, even if we still had learned little about the project itself.
It's not particularly complicated at all - sure, it's not plug-and-play, but at least it means you have a legit (or vaguely legit) hi-def copy of a show with subtitles. So many niche shows are getting Bluray releases in Japan but SD - or even no release at all - in Western territories - while I'm thrilled that, for instance, Kaiba and Dennou Coil have English releases in Australia, they're both shows that are crying out for HD releases that they'll never get.
That was...ummm...the most- creative interpretation of Cinderalla that i have yet to witness.
And then they topped off the episode with " turkey in the straw".
Class. Pure class.
I'm up to like episode 8 or whatever of Chihayafuru. I've realized that I don't like Chihaya. *stirs the pot*
I'd also appreciate input on whether the following series are worth watching/picking-up. I'm trying to slim down my list; like cross shit off.
BLOOD-C (heh)
Deadman Wonderland
Durarara
Flag
Guilty Crown
Gundam Unicorn
Last Exile - The Silver Wing
Madoka Magica (this will be interesting...)
Mirai Nikki
Mystic Archives of Dantalian
Natsume Yujincho
Persona 4
Rainbow
Redline
Shiki
Tatami Galaxy
UN-GO
Wandering Son
Yozakura Quartet

It's not a good show, but it should be seen just to experience how it can go from the shit in ep1 to the shit in ep11. It's a short series, so the damage is minimal. I'm not making a strong recommendation! Lol.
kero and Sakura came this close to a throwdown. Cuteness can be really scary!
This show knows every single moe trick in the book and it executes them masterfully.
Looks like these are on deck after Fate/Zero and cleaning up old watches.
Durarara (I have to start over though since I was like 1/2 in)
Flag
Gundam Unicorn
Madoka (start over, watched 2 eps)
Natsume Yujincho
Redline (yes I know it is a movie)
Tatami Galaxy
Wandering Son
The rest will be put in stasis. Thanks for the feedback. Probably saved me hours of wasted rage.
I hope Chihaya will put up a good fight against Queen and force her to go all out. Also is Taichi now strongly considering going into class A? Because if he does, it would be awesome to see him go against Arata.

Striked out shows you should avoid like the plague. Bolded shows are the cream of the crop. The others are okay, possibly worth getting around to at some point.
This was the beach-onsen-horror fanservice episode and all this in just 25 miutes. The other episodes are more tame wirth just some fantastic aircraft porn.

sakura takes a vacation.
The house she is staying in is pretty awesome.
Reminds me of how, aside from high speed internet, i could easily live in a wooden house in the countryside.
Especially waking up to the smell of wooden timber and bright sunlight through the windows.
Feelsgoodman.
Interestingly, Sakura
meets an old man who lost his granddaughter. It turns out the grand daughter is Sakura's mother Nadeshiko. Im not sure how she could not know about this guy at all
but it makes for a beautiful story. Especially how she used a clow card to
make a rainbow for the old man to remember his granddaughter
This show is way too good to be this moe.
But as good as it is, I still cant believe how expensive the discs are.

Yeah, I considered buying the JP Bluray release, but at today's exchange rate it would have been $1,500ish. Hell, buying the Haruhi series on Bluray cost me an arm and a leg. ;-;
Interesting statement. I was trying to think of a way to discuss this earlier but couldn't think of a way to get started.
Sakura Kinomoto is the "prototypical" moe girl, apparently, and probably the closest I've ever come to actually feeling "moe" about anyone. But that's because she's an adorable ten year old girl - I'd use "kawaii" if I was being a bit weeaboo about it, rather than "moe".
So if Sakura is apparently the embodiment of moe, why is she so different (or perhaps more accurately, why do I personally perceive her as being different) from most other moe characters? Is it because she's actually a character, rather than something designed with a fetish in mind? Is it because she exhibits moe traits but they're actually appropriate to a ten year old rather than a teenager? I dunno.

It certainly doesn't hurt that, as you put it, she's the original form of what has become the modern template for moé. She wasn't specifically designed to be a walking trait machine, she was simply created as a character who's traits went perfectly with the story. And yes, those traits do fit a 10 year old FAR better than most of today's moéblobs.
Hilariously, part of the reason behind the resale value of the old DVD release is this particular episode - with Cardcaptors still being A Thing at the time, I gather that Nelvana were a bit jumpy about releasing an episode which suggested that Good Things can happen to young children talking to strange old men and asked Geneon (or was it Pioneer at the time?) to hold-off on it a while. As a result, the whole DVD volume featuring the episode in question was held back for several months, although they continued with the following afterwards in the meantime regardless.
All the confusion and annoyance over the missing volume hurt the series sales in a fashion from which it didn't really recover, so the later disks were produced in lower quantities (the boxsets just suffered because of the whole sudden Geneon closing thing).
Personally, I have to admit that I own a complete set of the original US DVD release.
I did end up warming up to this show, enough to finish it, and there were some genuinely creative and humorous moments. Still, I have to admit I got more enjoyment out of the other Mizushima-directed TV show of 2011.

I think this why i enjoyed Angelic Layer so much.
It wasnt just a moe panderthon. It had a legitimate story to go along with the hnng and the fun battles.
Perhaps not coincidentally that is also a CLAMP series.

I have the original Pioneer uncut subbed discs. The more i watch this show, the more clearly evident it is that i have a real treasure in my collection.

If it had a better premise, I would've continued but it's got all the genericness of a typical harem so I couldn't pull through after a couple chapters
Im kind of laughing at nflGAF because they think i am a creepy pedo for watching this stuff.
Kind of sad that moe has that perception now.
I can see why episode 16 was so controversial.
Its a shame.

Seeing new love for Cardcaptor Sakura warms my heart. That show really transcends time.
Chihayafuru 11:
Great episode. We got to see everyone the team doing well in their own way. Taichi is pretty impressive with his memory and analytical skills, and I'm really liking Nishida's story as well. Sudo was a pretty good opponent and an interesting guy. Arata's reaction to seeing all his emails was great, too. This show is just so awesome.
