Huh, I only just now realized the Vita First package came with a hard shell case. Sweet. Was expecting it to be a soft slip-cover that offered little to no protection. I do wish it came with a screen protector though, seems like a no-brainer.

I traded in my 360 toward the Vita yesterday. EB Games guy gave me a bit of a scare when he said he wasn't sure if Deviants came on the memory card or was a physical copy, but then I remembered the Vita has no internal memory! Blatant oversight turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Day 0 trade-in plans NOT foiled!

Just out of curiosity, why is everyone picking up 32GB sticks on day 1? Do you guys plan on downloading that much in the short-term, or is this for additional media like music or videos? Personally, I'm going to wait for sales or cheaper 3rd-party options is they become available.

I was thinking about this yesterday. It could still theoretically come on the 4gb memory card they give you.

I have a ton of PSP and PSone games I've been waiting to play on my Vita, and I plan on downloading most of my Vita games. Obviously they don't all need to be installed at the same time, but I want the highest capacity possible now, rather than spending the money on an 8GB card now, then spending more on a 32GB card later.

Got to play something on vita between the dry period.

It could be a code/voucher used to download it off PSN.

Personally, it's because I need a memory stick and I don't want to buy a smaller one Day 1 and a larger one at some other point (or a 3rd party 32GB one at some other point)

Plus, I'll be putting many PS1 games (from what I've purchased and ongoing PS+ games) and PSP games (especially now that they're being quite discounted on PSN.

I got a LOT of PSP 'ish to download dawg.
These JRPGs and shmups are begging to be played on that screen.

because they're in the US and not in Europe :/

Between DLC, game installs, patches and downloadable games/Minis alone, space goes fast. Throw in actual PSN Vita games + PS1/PSP games, and you're in for a world of hurt.

The original XBox had 14GB, and it was a constant battle with memory management for me with just patches, DLC and demos. Anything less than 32GB is a joke in the long run. Heck, even 32GB won't last forever -- but it gives you more breathing room.

And SCEE only gives us 4 8 and 16GB! YAY SCEE.

Sometimes i think they do it just so they are the most incompetant region of SCE.

Ah, but how would Sorny know what PSN account to associate the game with?

It could be a code/voucher used to download it off PSN.
...
Son of a BITCH! I still think (hope) they're going the physical route because it seems like less potential headache (bad codes, forcing users to devote precious memory card space on shitty game), but it's very possible they'll go with digital vouchers.

I did not know this. Are these PSN+ discounts, or discounts that plebs like myself can enjoy?

True. I remember some JSRPGs piquing my interest a long time ago, but I didn't follow 'em since I didn't plan on getting a PSP. Besides Disgaea, I'd basically be interested in anything that looks like Grand Knights History.

I wish they would clarify the PSX playback patch window for the machine some time soon. As a PS+ member (thx Target!) they've been giving away a ton of games for free lately that I would like to transfer and play on the go. That patch might ultimately determine what size card I spring for.

It would make a ton of sense for Little Deviants to be a code/voucher now that I think of it. Would save costs on producing those cartridges for the First Edition units. They'd be crazy not to.

This to the max.

If I settle for a 16gb now, I know for a fact that in a few months I will wish I had gotten the 32gb because I will be low on space. I'd rather pay the extra $40 now and not have to worry about it.

I plan to order the Screen Protector, Travel Case, and Cradle off of Gamestop.com because it doesn't look like Amazon will be getting those :/

I would imagine for this it'd be a physical copy. In japan it's DL only. Here they can't expect that everyone will have wifi or anything, idk. It's def a great question. I think it'll come in a box though. If so returning without receipt to Target for Hot Shots. Unless it says not for resale on the back, duhr. Stupid variables.

Also, I think they want to show off the carts we'll possibly be paying for in the future should we choose not to go the digital route. They want you to have everything that the vita will be using on day one. Seems rather naive to not include the game cart and box, etc.

It's available for even the unwashed plebs such as yourself.

I remember specifically seeing some Mega Man games up there and some Square RPGs (FFT: WotL specifically). Also I remember Jeanne D'Arc being on sale too. Prices around $10-$20 depending on the game and the time (i.e. if it was on a heavy promotion or not)

I have some of these on PSP already, but having them on the Vita would have been nice.

Or they might want people to go to the PSN Store on their device so that they will see all the wonderful games available day one. Also, downloading little deviants will already take up one quarter of that fancy 4 gig card which may prompt the end user to buy a larger card down the line.

Adding in a DD game in a retail hardware package is nothing new these days.

PSP games backlog

I thought this, but then I went through my (limited) list.

- wipeout....nah, going to get 2048 so won't need to replay this
- LBP....nah, going to buy it when it comes out so no need.
- hotshots golf...already got 6

So there are only a few I really want to replay soon, and I'll have a dig around later on if there is a sale.

No I don't think so. Because the AR Games have to be downloaded. That's the incentive to get you onto the store.

AND

If you read the description carefully it says it comes with a copy of Little Deviants

NOT

Comes with aDigital Download As past promos have read

I would think videos would look phenomenal on such a big screen + OLED.

That's true. They usually do say when it is a digital download.

We shall see.

Got my Wifi Vita and 32 gig stick ordered. Probably will go with Dynasty Warriors Next and Wipeout right at launch...just can't decide if I want to go all digital or not.

In regards to PSP backwards compatability, have they said anything of being able to transfer our saves from PSP Memory Sticks to the VITA's proprietery cards? I know about PS3/VITA Cloud Saving and "TRANSFARRING!", but nothing about PSP/VITA transfers.

Couldn't you transfer your saves to the computer or the PS3 by connecting your PSP to them and doing so?

I imagine, you would be able to do the same to the Vita

Awesome, just remembered I have $60 in Newegg credit. I'll grab my 32GB stick from there.

It's so great that Hot Shots and WipeOut are priced at $30. If Vita pricing holds up like this, I don't mind paying $50 for games like Uncharted if the majority of games I'd buy are $30. It's unfortunate that there are so many $40 third-party games though. I'll wait for sales on Marvel and Disgaea.

Also if you download the games they are 10-20% less in cost.........so Hots Shots might be $24-$27.....

You guys mostly going physical or digital?

Got a Vita when I was in Japan and picked up a couple games (physical), but thinking of grabbing a 32GB card and going digital once the games come out here.

But I love the cases and like having shit on my shelf :P

digital, I'll just have everything backed up on my computer

I'm going physical mostly. So I can have the option to sell or trade in. Unless there is a great digital price a la steam. I'm going to go with no on that. So physical for me. Simply has more value.

Is that how it works on the Japanese store, or are you basing it off that rumor? And weren't PSP games cheaper on PSN in Japan?

Anyway, if this is true I'll probably be buying a lot of digital games.

Doesn't Hot Shots require you to buy the Online Pass separately though? Are you including that in the cost?

I hope they give us a lot more details in the next few days. I feel like I'm going into this launch with a lot of unanswered questions.

Seperate online pass fir Hot Shots has been confirmed to false several times now.

It is available on the PSN, but it's intended for purchasers of used copies. Any new download if the PSN version will include the pass as well as new retail copies.

I don't understand how lack of video-out is a terrible design decision.

It's certainly a regrettable one, three of the four versions of the PSP had that feature, and the Go even let you use a DS3 to control the game on the TV. Vita games would look better on a TV, they are higher than SD resolution so they would at least look as good or better than last gen consoles, plus the games themselves are more detailed.

Removing TV-out is a step backward. Not a huge step, but a step nonetheless.

That's good to hear. Seemed silly to sell them as separate.
