After the disappointing fishman arc, One Piece seems to be finally picking up again. The first new world arc should be great.

Tagashi's new design does suck though.

 good chapter all be it short
IMO, The moment of interest was not Naruto's actions but the 9 tails acknowledgment of Naruto. That was more meaningful than any super hax move Naruto could have pulled off to pull out a stake. really what was everyone expecting.....

You can't write more than that about a 18 pages chapter where it's all just setup for future shit. Beside if you write more than that, then it's all just fluff and wild speculations.
 
I agree it's probably a translation error but how do you even do that? I mean it's two hundred and ten million vs two billion. Then it would've gone through the typesetter and proofreaders and whatever, and no one bat an eyelid? Blah.

This Chapter more than made up for the shortcomings of Naruto and Bleach this weedl It had me smiling from ear to ear.

The Haki fight between Luffy and Smoker is going to be amaaazing. I'm saying that because I remember it being said to Coby that everyone who's a Vice Admiral and above can use it in some capacity.

Yea, that's kind of it. All the fluff and wild speculations go into the "discussion". It's funny cause it creates 100x the content of the latest chapter. I kind of have to tip my hat to that sort of commitment.

Eh, just another week of big 3 angst. Anime switch go.

At least Naruto finally doing something but the flashback was just unnecessary by every means. Five pages? Come on...you can only be so goddamn lazy in this respect.

Hunter x Hunter C

Togashi really bringing this stuff to a crawl but I'm glad Killua finally ready to use Alluka's powers on Gon so we can get this arc moving. The stuff about Partison wanting to use ants for the Hunter Exam is very interesting.

One Piece B

Solid chapter as usual. Smoker and Tashigi look like they both have boss new designs. I'm sort of hoping Smoker will end up being the first Vice Admiral who doesn't use haki but I doubt it. It'd be interesting if he was sailing into the New World with just his seastone swords.

I guess you weren't around when I was actually reading Bleach in full then, there was plenty of huge write-ups from me and others debating about the quality of the series.

The thing here is that when you're reading other manga, you're reading the entire thing. Ergo, you can formulate a review due to the amount of content you assess. I did this with Bleach many times but didn't care to do it with Naruto cause people would just claim I'm just an illogical hater no matter how much effort I put into my posts. This type of mentality hurts the board more than helps it and it's a shame no one can have a solid critique of these series without being labeled, "LOL WUT PIECE FANS." It's a fucking joke.

I feel bad as I've gotten too lazy to do proper write-ups :(

Speaking of lazy write-ups, One Piece, 652 - Smoker is such a bro so I'm glad to see him back. Tashigi too, actually. Hopefully we don't lull around too much in the moments between stuff happening, though. Need excitement!

it was nice seeing kensei and shinji as captains again tho i wouldve liked a bit of explanation on how they got the title back. meh 3 weeks of break i hope he gets a good idea for a good plot

Amazing chapter. Apparently Soul Society was watching Ichigo since he was born as well, from what Ukitake and Shunsui said. I really liked the fact that Ichigo felt guilty over Ginjou and wanted to bury him. Glad to see the vizards back. I was also surprised that Ichigo threw the word shinigami representative in front of them all. Ichigo is boss. Riruka has committed suicide.

Naruto

Nice chapter. It will lead to the Fox giving Naruto all of his powers.

Tasigi looks good, and glad that Smoker is back.
 
Bleach
Kubo trying to make Ginjou a sympathetic figure just isn't working for me. This is one of those cases where a flashback was sorely needed imo.
 
Naruto

Hmmm, the action in this chapter was somewhat lax, but I really enjoyed the banter between Naruto, the Kyuubi and Son. Kyuubi's flat out refusal of converting to Naruto-ism "unless Naruto proves himself" was pretty cool. "Prove it with your actions" ~ this is Naruto to me in a nutshell. He's best at winning and kicking ass, not talking and reasoning with his opponents. Sage Mode's return was mouth watering (its my favorite mode in Naruto history) and i'm so glad it stayed with us.

All in all, it was a solid chapter, albeit a little slow.

One Piece

Another jam packed chapter filled with a ton of info. First off, it appears that Luffy "definitely seems to have matured, and it wasn't all talk." Giving Big Mama the treasure so that she wouldn't attack Fishman island was a responsible thing to. (I can't wait to see it blow up in her face XD) I'm really impressed with his character after the timeskip. Pekom's has Haki?!? I predict that when the strawhats do fight Big Mama, Pekoms will be one of her premier fighters.... he'll probably fight Zoro or Sanji. On the marine side, Tashigi makes a return! I actually dreaded her appearance because I hated her new design (the one featured in the Marineford arc) but it appears Oda has answered my prayers and hearkened to my desires. Her design is a lot more similar to her original design, and (despite having the generic huge breasts, small waist body type) she doesn't look like a Robin / Boa clone. Smoker has a vice admiral was expected, I miss the bastard. All in all, an amazing chapter.

Bleach

Why the fuck are they honoring Ginjou? I also loved how Kubo shoved it down our throats that Ukitake was a good guy all a long. Like I a believed for a second he'd be evil. Ichigo makes his way to SS (ie the cool kids club) and meets up with some familiar faces. Soifon hasn't changed one bit, (i'm glad, but the longer hair is a nice touch) and Kensei is a captain. (about damn time) Again, why the fuck are they honoring Ginjou? He was a joke! A rank amateur who got beaten in a single boss, hardly a boss enemy worth going through the trouble of burying. Whatever mediocre chapter, but the arc is finally over and I'm happy. Bleach is going on a 3 week break? The fuck?!? I think I can manage though hehe.

Some people will over-hyping something as if it's the greatest form of literature that even Shakespeare would envy and some others will downplaying another like its the worst piece of shit ever conceived.

I'd like to address this comment. Keep in mind, I started re-reading OP so its fresh in my mind. I don't think OP is the greatest form of literature, and I'm sure as hell not going to start comparing to Shakespeare (really Manga vs Olden literature is a stupid comparison) but I can't deny One Piece's quality. I was indifferent to it at first, but after really getting into the series I finally understood why its so great.

I've seen the walls of text for Bleach. But that's atypical. It's mostly quick drive-by stuff that you just scroll past. I'm not sure what the point of "lolz, Aizen is a troll" stuff. I also do enjoy talking about Bleach when the content calls for it...which is rare.

A lot of people write good stuff based on one chapter. So I don't agree with the "amount of content" argument.

I don't think a single discussion on Bleach that involves walls of text involves talking about Aizen's trolling other than Beam repeatedly quoting him and saying that it's DEEP.

Bleach has so many problems aside from Aizen that I've more than enough spent time analyzing and deconstructing it. Just because you refuse to pay attention to such things, doesn't make discussions unworthy. You just can't get away with having a solid opinion here and hence why there isn't much discussion on big three chapters on a normal basis.

There has never been a single case of this that didn't discuss outside content of the respective chapter.

That sounds about right. 330 million for this random dude is pretty damn huge.

Speaking of bounties, I still don't understand how Luffy's only went up by 100 million after all the shit he did in the last arc. I mean... what else do you have to do to get your bounty up?
 
People kinda thought he was dead, and wasn't as much of a going concern. Wouldn't be surprised to go way up again now its known he's alive.

It's pretty clear Kubo wants this arc over and done with asap. Was it really too much to ask for a flashback that would explain Ginjou's actions? Apparently so.
 
Let me reiterate that giving ratings to individual chapters is fucking dumb for a million reasons. You're just setting up impossible standards for series to meet. A good climax or action piece requires a good set up and you guys just give C's to all the setup chapters regardless of how well they work in retrospect. If you want to rate them, rate them by volume at least.

I don't necessarily disagree with this but Bleach volumes are straight up abysmal when it comes to everything that makes a good manga volume. Bleach has too much lack of content to make a decent manga volume as it stretches out every fight for an entire volume or so. The format is different than reading a chapter weekly and would be graded differently. Ergo, I may give a Bleach volume an F grade but a single chapter a B grade, cause the single chapter provided more than I would've gotten from a reader's perspective than I would've gotten from the volume it was in.

Neither things are dumb and are perfectly valid ways of judgment in every way possible.

In what cases are any of those dumb? They're different formats, both which can be critiqued with ease.
 
One Piece

I don't know why, but the idea that the Marines in the New World are barely better than pirates (heck, they might even be former pirates gang pressed into service, they just have "marines" and "justice" scribbled on their hats and shirts) makes an odd sort of sense.

Also Neptune's reaction shot is now in the OP top tiers, and that's no mean feat.
