I just don't think they are a SB team. The defense got old and their offense just isn't equipped to deal with the big boys on the road. Their window closed.

Now, they should absolutely beat Houston. Lose that game, and there's trouble. Lose a competitive game to NE, and you shrug your shoulders and hope that Ozzie has the guts to do what needs to be done with that defense and assistant coaches.

I'd also say the Steelers have some tough choices to make with coaches and established players

really ray and ed are the oldest on our D top 3 and beating good teams with out Ray. And flacco has weapons with Q and torrey.

I missed (brief) Starks discussion and car discussion while i was at work today? Maaaaaaan :(

Neogaf being blocked at work sucks donkey dick :/
I thought of that as the discussion was going on. Poor guy had no one to completely defend him.

And nice Woodson avatar! I would've picked one of those new ones if I wasn't so attached to one per season
and if Bucket would've made a Finley one...

I may have to but I've become quite attached to your Aaron looking like John Marston avatar.

The window isn't closed, but it's really close. This team is good enough to win the Superbowl, and Flacco isn't always shit. He has to win two games, one guaranteed home game to get there. Our offense is good enough, and our defense is still top 3. Fact is, Baltimore beat alot of good teams this year. Shit, everyone keeps saying the Steelers are the best team the AFC and we beat them twice. So really, how is the window closed. It's closing for sure, but not closed yet.

Honestly, I think your D is fine. It's your offense that's busted.

There it is. 50 percent of your entire offense is reliant on this one guy. Thinking about it; the same thing happened with Flacco that happened with Tebow - Steelers were shocked the ball actually got downfield to Smith.

check out these crowd shots from the 1981 cowboys/niners NFCG (credit to 49erswebzone). lol something is just funny about them:

edit - bah, lame! well.... go watch it on NFLN and check out the crowd!

I think your defense will give it up on the road to NE and GB/NO/NYG, and I just don't think your offense can score more than 30 pts. It's not a godd year if you lose to nE, but it's not a bad year. It's just the end of the line for some of your core guys. but, you are better than the Steelers. whatever else may happen, they got destroyed by Tim freakin' Tebow. You'll get to rub that in their faces for a good while

Well let me go on record in saying that I hope you're right. That said they are still dangerous.

I would love nothing more (besides the Steelers not being eliminated and winning the Super Bowl, of course) for the Tebows and Houston to knock out the Pats and Rats, however I have to be realistic ; at least one and likely both will make it to the Championship round. I think it'll be the Ravens.

As for the offseason, the Steelers have to address the middle. I think their biggest problems will sort themselves out (Aaron Smith, Hokie, and Ward will retire) which leaves Farrior. Here's hoping Chris Carter gains 30 pounds of muscle over the off season (*cough cough*) because while Farrior's finished - 1. he's not retiring 2. We have no one to replace him anyway,

Ravens have the same problem. Elephant in the room time - both Lewis AND Reed are washed up.

Ray Lewis is definitely washed up. And having Pollard and Reed as safeties is just going to get them killed by a big time passing team.

For the Steelers, I just wonder why it took Arians so long to go to a timing and rhythm passing game. And your D just needs a major infusion of talent. Gotta hope Colbert can find front 7 players like he finds WRs in late rounds

I like your offensive talent, though I never really trust Flacco. I don't like how Cameron uses the weapons he has, and I think Flacco gets hung out to dry by being put in some bad situations. If you guys aren't wearing out Ryans and Jackson, Cameron is a fool. Those two guys are HUGE liabilities in coverage.

Nothing really to defend and that makes me so sad :(

Grant has been running very well the last few weeks and is an upgrade in pass protection. Starks still has these moments where he's out by himself wondering where the rusher is while AGOD is on the ground behind him.

Rodgers loves him, so that is good enough for me! Starks has 99 problems but falling forward aint one!

Wood avy is the best. I owe buckethead a beer at the 1st annual Packers-Age 'bash' at Ez's place to celebrate number 14!!!!

The front seven is mostly fine. The big hole is the depth at ILB. Farrior and his backup are finished. We need to replace them both.

I don't think people got to see it because Lebeau rarely uses rookies full time, but Cameron Heyward is the next Aaron Smith. Best play of the whole Denver game for the Steelers was when he reached out and grabbed Mcgahee while engaged and flipped him on his ass. Dude is a stud.

Arians problem is Ben. Ben wants the home run, and Arians wants to give it to him.

I've mentioned it before, but your old OL coach Larry Zierlein is on the radio once a week in Houston. He doesn't really take too many shots, but it's clear he doesn't like Arians. The story is basically that bad season a few years ago the Rooneys wanted Arians head, Ben and Tomlin wanted to keep him, so Tomlin had to give up the OL coach

But he thinks Ben just loves his stats too much, and for whatever reason, Tomlin just lets those two do whatever they want. Zierlein used to plead with Arians to just run the ball a few times more a game to slow down the pass rush, but they wouldn't do it.

It's weird, but you'd think Ben wouldn't wield so much power after they covered up so much for him.

Arians has been in love with chucking it deep since his Cleveland days where in 02 he called about 150 more pass plays than runs, and that was with Tim Couch and Holcomb as his QBs. Word is Tomlin wants him back again. And supposedly Lebeau has stated he wants to be back too. I know they've had much success with these guys, but frankly I'm a bit worn out watching them. I'm tired of practically every game being a one score nail biter. Though with the amount of player overturn they're looking at next season, they might be lucky to keep every game that close.

I want Lebeau to stay forever. It's not the scheme that's the problem; it's the players running it.

Arians i'm wishy washy on. On one hand, I think the Steelers can do better. On the other, Ben's nearing/in his prime. Do we really want to change systems on him?

Everyone Tweet Conner Barwin and tell him thats racist.

If we lose in the playoffs, Hue Jackson will be back in Baltimore, but replacing Cameron.

I guess we can get that ball rolling after Sunday afternoon.

Also... my "get myself tickets to the AFC Championship Game" plan is underway...

(not all mine, split it with my brother)

I know so many people who are doing this. Coworkers, family, friends. People who have never bet before on anything are setting up accounts or having someone place the bet for them. I think every blog has run the story on how the numbers work.

Granted, it's such a small sample size, but if it somehow happened, it would almost be a warped economy b/c all that demand for tickets from flush bettors

Seriously, what the hell are you (planning on)doing at your bachelor party

My rule is a very simple one. Anything the woman doesn't want to do to me or allow me to do on a regular basis will get done at my bachelor party.

I think it's a fair and equitable one for both parties.

Heh, I tweeted Matt Jackson (790) monday morning about it, he talked about it and a bunch of people probably got the idea from that or second hand from there. lol

It works too well, it's the only way we'd have an AFC Champ game, I think both are entirely possible, not likely, but possible, and both are huge underdogs in Vegas.

All I'm doing is betting half of my Super Bowl wagering funds on this happening. If it happens, awesome, if it doesn't, then my wagering for SB gets halved. Not a huge loss.
