I feel like there's a fine line between being in Class S and just having good taste...

edit: ironically that sounds exceedingly snobby

How are people ranked in-between classes? Is it post count?

Varying degrees of elitism. Higher=more elitist, lower=less elitist.

Casshern Sins 1

Liking the action, but I'm REALLY not digging the world. This is the kind of post-apocalyptic scenery that bores the hell out of me. Would be nice to actually see the day sky from time to time.

Will keep watching though because the story seems neat.

What you see is what you get. The excellent action stays the same all the way through the show and so does the imagery and atmosphere of the world, although it gets even more dreamlike as the show goes on. The day sky does appear occasionally.

I was pretty disappointed with the overall plot, as it feels like they had a couple ideas but no clue on where to take them, so it just meanders about for a while and then stops. You might feel differently, of course.

Enjoy what little plot you have, because Casshern Sins is more about the atmosphere (that you don't seem to enjoy) than the mysteries or the characters.

I probably need to watch more anime so I can post more here. Doesn't help I been doing nothing but playing Dynasty Warriors 7 here.

I've been doing nothing but watching other people write about what they've watched on this thread. Although I just may be more inclined towards visual novels than anime nowadays. I've been thinking that since I finished Umineko 8 (ending was ehh) last week.

Princess Tutu 19:

No manly tears tonight; just straight up crying. I am a sucker for love stories, and the little vignettes in this episode were adorable.
So I guess there goes my Fakir x Ahiru fanfic... :(

The use of music in this show is beyond superb. I came to the realisation that the formula never feels tiring because of the way the music is woven into the scene. I may not be big on musical terms, but you can feel the build-up and denouement on each piece coincide and complement each other perfectly. Great music is not necessary to make great television, but in this case I feel Tutu wouldn't be as amazing if it hadn't chosen such quality material to pay tribute to.

There are plenty of hnng shows with substance.
Princess tutu is a fine example.
The best of both worlds as it were.
You know, I don't think Tutu is particularly cute. Sure, Ahiru is adorable, but it's not the aspect that I'm most reminded of when I think of the show. It's just a really well-written and funny anime that's paying homage to a bunch of different stuff without bordering on parody.

Neither of the girls in that picture have long blonde hair, what gives?

What manga do you guys want animated next? And by what studio? You can't pick anything that has an anime adaptation that got canceled or finished while the manga is still going. An example of that is Hitman Reborn or D. Gray-man.

It's self-evident that original anime are superior, there's no need to pollute the medium with more sub-par adaptations.

alright animugaf, arjuna or school days?

edit: i should add that i've all ready been spoiled about the ending of school days :<

I don't know why you can't do both at the same time. Just because you know about School Days doesn't mean you won't enjoy the magical journey.

He's the one that made me add the category.

You know what, I'm just gonna make a key to describe the classes since a few people seem to be confused.

Class S: Super Monocle People: The quintessential elitist. Often use phrases like "lowest common denominator", "you have bad taste", "this hurts my eyes", "anime is dead", etc. Will nitpick the most insignificant details and expect everyone else to be bothered by it too and if they aren't, those people's opinions are no longer trustworthy. Prone to looking down on others for this reason and believing they are almost always the one in the right.

Ex: "What, you like (X Anime)!? You have terrible taste and are probably a less than stellar human being all around! You must have dropped out of grade school if you think this has good writing or is of acceptable quality in any way!"

Class A: Fake Monocle People: A toned down class S. While still noticeably elitist, they are a bit more forgiving of others who don't agree with them. They are still unlikely to trust that person though.

Ex: "You like (X Anime)? Damn son, you should probably get an eye check and/or an education. Here's 5 bucks for a library card, so go read or something."

Class B: Refined Retina Displacement Theory: On the border between Monocle and Mustache. Still have their own brand of elitism, but it is more subdued and may not be immediately noticeable. As it is a broad category, the levels of elitism will vary greatly.

Ex: "You like (X Anime)? I guess that's fair, but damn... Remind me not to take recommendations from you 0_o"

Class C: All around mustache club: Mostly friendly and non-confrontational. Won't go out of their way to insult the tastes of others and will usually accept the different people like different things. There may be some latent elitism that will show on occasion, but for the most part they will be just as happy ignoring a tastes scuffle.

Ex: "You like (X Anime)? Well I don't think it's good, but we can still be friends. Let's have a snowball fight!"

Class D: Boys in Dresses Boys in dresses.

Looks like Class C is perfect for me.

I was pretty disappointed with the overall plot, as it feels like they had a couple ideas but no clue on where to take them, so it just meanders about for a while and then stops. You might feel differently, of course.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that felt that the plot of Chasshern Sins fell apart towards the end. A real wasted opportunity given the subject matter.

accept no substitutes
