PS Vita US Launch Details (Launch Games, Accessory Pricing)

Went by Gamestop last night and picked up my new Vita and played with it all last night. It is much bigger than I expected. Took me a while to get an upgraded HDD installed in it though.

(alright, so I went and used my Vita preorder money to replace my 60GB PS3 that died. But since it will be a long while before I can now get a Vita, I can pretend can't I?)

sure if it let's you sleep at night :D

I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm getting close to possibly picking up a Vita at launch. I am fighting that urge though. I have notes even near my PC listing reasons not to get it now. If I do this is what I'd be getting.

PS Vita (Wifi)
8gb Memory Card
Hot Shots Golf
Dynasty Warriors Next

If I do that kills any possibility of me getting any more console games (outside of Xenoblade) until the Wii U comes out as I do have some 3DS games I want to get and have removed some of the maybes off the buying list. I would be willing to get a 3G model if there was a decent bundle for it. The one on Amazon has a game I have no interest in at all. If I could change it I might be willing to get and trade one of the potential games for the 3G.

Do Near, LiveArea and Activity Log seem to work best when connected with the 3G?

Right now, that's the only way I have to cope with being thoroughly run over by the Vita hype train.

you could have been on the Vita hype train with everyone else and just got a PS3 later :)

what is actually coming out on PS3 that you want to play anytime soon?

The PS3 is used all the time. Besides the large backlog of games that I'm trying to make a dent in, the family also gets a lot of use from it for Netflix and Blurays.

For example, right now I'm trying to work through:
Batman: Arkham City
Ratchet & Clank: ACiT
Infamous 2
BlazBlue Continuum Shift
Resistance 3
Red Dead Redemption
Demon Souls
White Knight Chronicles II
Skyrim
...and many more...

I couldn't see being without a PS3 for several months. As much as I wanted the Vita, most of my gaming would still be done on the PS3.

I will soooo buy a Vita around 2014 together with FFX remake and some action game (Castlevania preferably).

until then, Vita, good luck, you are gonna need it.

I searched this thread for this but came up empty: Is the Vita able to use the iPhone 4 as a hotspot? My PSP doesn't support iPhone's WPA2, I'm hoping this isn't the case for Vita as I have zero interest in a 3G version.

if you have a tax refund coming you could always use that to get a Vita

I was planning on only getting one or two Vita games on launch (Uncharted and UMvC3 through work) and a few cheap PSN games (Corpse Party, Patapon, Gladiator Begins), but now that I hear that I Super Stardust Delta is going to be $9.99, I'll be grabbing that too.

If the PS1 functionality is there launch day, I have some cool PS1 Classics I'd love to have on my unit. Plenty of gaming to keep me busy until the next wave of Vita titles hit (notably Ruin, LBP, and Gravity Daze, which are three of my anticipated titles).

I've never bought a console/handheld on launch day, so I'm really excited about the Vita launch. The next few weeks are going to be hard, especially since I'll be getting some of the games before the 22nd (Uncharted will arrive on the 15th), so I'll be staring at my games and memory card, but no system to play them on. lol.

EDIT: Damn, just watched that Unit 13 video. That's a launch title? Hmm. I may break down and pick that up if I can. Man, this launch is adding up for me every day it seems. Thankfully, my February check is a free one, barring any other calamities in my life...

The device looks so cool. There are like 3 games I would get but, I been burned too many times to buy at launch. Gonna wait it out. Wish I could try one out before hand too.

Tallying up the launch goods.

PS Vita (Wifi) - Paid
32 GB Card - Paid
WipEout 2048
Uncharted: GA
Lumines: ES
(Import) Ragnarok Odyssey - Paid
(Import) @field

Saving my New Game+ run of FF Type-0 for it.
Also hoping there are no problems getting online with PSPo2i Infrastructure mode.

Well that will be mine.

Didn't realise there was a score attack mode (or just functionality) for Unit 13. ^_^

Also, am I the only one who noticed that new Shinobido video on the blog opening talking about "the shadows are my only friend" and then go on to show gameplay that's almost entirely devoid of shadows?

Launch goodies tally:

3G / Wi-Fi Vita - $108 left to pay
32 GB mem card - paid
Uncharted GA - paid
Vita starter kit - $15 left to pay

I'll download Hot Shots & Super Star Dust from PSN, so that'll be $40 to $50. Luckily Christmas money and gift cards have paid for the majority of my launch haul.

And hopefully that vague statement about AT&T giving us a free game for enabling one of their data plans will manifest into a Wipeout 2048 PSN code.

If we can choose from the Launch lineup that is avail on PSN for Vita, I will be pleased.

I really want a Vita but I recently purchased a 3ds and I don't have the money for one. I would pick one up day 1 though if ff7 remake was announced for it.

My PS3 is a 60gig model as well and I know it's on it's last legs. Just the other day it froze during the startup routine and my heart skipped a beat. But I'm just going to ride it out. Maybe u can buy a replacement Slim with my tax return... if my wife is cool with that.

Can't wait for Vita though. And if my PS3 dies break, hopefully Vita will download games from PSN faster than the PSP could.

More Unit 13 Coverage

I'm still going with the First Edition Vita bundle mainly for the early access to the machine and the really sexy case they are including in the bundle. I'll most likely trade in or sell Little Deviants asap and use the 4GB card for JP account stuff as I also have a 16GB card pre-ordered.

Feb 15th.
First Edition Vita Bundle
Wipeout 2048 (PSN)
Super Stardust Delta (PSN)
16GB Memory Card
1 or 2 retail single player games, not decided which yet.

Feb 22nd.
Shinobido

Launch Window
Gravity Daze
Sumioni
Unit 13
Army Corps of Hell
LBP Vita

I'd also like to point out how many cool and unusual Japanese titles we're getting at launch and how appreciative I am of that fact. Army Corps of Hell, Sumioni, Gravity Daze and Shinobido all in the launch window. I'm going to be like a big kid in a candy store.

Can I still preorder a first edition bundle? Im probably just gonna get a mem card for psn games and see if there are any post launch retail sales.

I need advice:

I will be on USA on February for a week, but I will leave on 20th. The release date of the Vita is 22nd. What are my chances?

Will be the "first-edition-bundle" available at stores on Feb 15th or it can only be ordered online???

Besides what are my chances to get a wi-fi version? Because I do not need 3G (I do not know if it will work with other operator's simcards, where I live), plus 4GB card is a little bit too little, and I was not planning to get Little Deviants...

you're best bet might be having someone score you a first edition bundle from Canada then since it's the wifi only bundle and getting them to priority mail it to wherever you will be in America

Is it true that buying vita games via psn will be cheaper than physical copies? Don't remember where i read that...

that's the rumor (and is the case in Japan) but we won't know for sure for another few weeks I bet

I will be in a Hotel, and I will not know the room number until I get there (I will be on NY just for 6 days), so I will only be able to shop online after I get there, and there will be no time for that. Besides, most Canada stores shows the Vita release for Feb 22nd (I have an unit pre-ordered on a Canada store).

you might be able to find a GAF member up in Canada willing to help you out

Lots of hotels will hold packages for you if you have a reservation. Just call the hotel and tell them you're getting something delivered from Amazon.

I just pre-orderd the 1st edition bundle at Best Buy in No. Cal. They said they would honor the Canadian coupon for the free uncharted game. It took a while and a manager had to come and approve it. I hope they keep their word.
