Both. I find TC buggy, shitty and over all unpleasant. IRC gives people the option to access the chat however they want be it a client or embedded on a page. Just better for leaving on in the background while you go about your day.

Mmm... Don't think I've tried IRC since high school. I like TC to a degree. It usually starts off well then gets very laggy. The video/mic is total novelty. I've never done that before. Very different (in good and bad ways).
You guys! How the hell am I suppose to get Nutella out here. I swear it's impossible. The only times I've seen it are in big stores, in the city, in the corner. One jar.

If you don't count my last vacation (in which I went back to England and met with friends from college so how could I not get drunk every night), I have had...three days in the last three years where I've had alcohol.
One was chocolate wine last week because this thread kept talking about it, one was five beers while watching the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie, and one was when my ex-girlfriend and I decided to watch The Last Airbender, The Room, and High School Musical back to back.
I just drank a ton in college.
Yeah, but I've always found it really difficult to find here. Maybe it's just the area I live in, I don't know. I guess it isn't popular.

Freelance stuff (which usually involves "Take this press release and rewrite it to be an article"), but this past year it's been almost entirely political journalism (which has been "Take this press release from the campaign and rewrite to be an article.")

For me, getting a BA in Mass Media with a journalism concentration and my mentor/favorite professor being the wife of a state senator and an editor at the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
For other people, writing samples and internships. I wrote for a small (like, physically small) magazine in Atlanta called JIVE for about three years and I include those samples with every resume because it's published work and they love published work.
