NFL 2011 Divisional Round |OT| Jesus cast flag merchants, rapists out of His temple

Also, raises a good question: are there any consensus "rules" among NFL fans governing cheering for other teams once you've been knocked out of the playoffs? Do you cheer for teams alive still in your division because them winning makes your division look good, or do you cheer against them because they're your rivals? I've always wondered that.

I didnt watch the playoffs or super bowl last year after my saints lost. There was no point to it.
Usually i do watch the super bowl but i had to work last year that day and there was little reason to take off from work to watch it.

As far as postseason rooting goes I don't think there are any rules in particular that I follow, typically I'll just take each individual matchup as it comes and decide who I'd prefer to win that one game rather than pick a team to "ride" throughout.

This year I'm pulling for the Texans mostly for the sake of the alliance, outside of that and hoping that Tebow beats the Patriots for sheer hilarity's sake, I don't really give a damn what happens until the Super Bowl rolls around.

Putting aside who you think will win, which game this weekend do you think will be the most entertaining?

I don't see the Packers and Giants playing a second great game in a row. I think Tebow's competent streak of 1 game will end. And 49ers-Saints feels like one of those dream matchups that doesn't live up to the hype. So I'm voting Ravens-Texans. I bet Houston will play better than most people expect.

All jokes aside, do you guys hate Finley or love him? Is it a both thing?
He's extremely talented and athletic, making for a huge mismatch against LBs, allowing Rodgers to exploit opposing defenses as he sees fit - I love that.

But he's also a mouthy, egotistical douchebag who talks when he should be quiet, brags when he should be humble, and celebrates when he should get his ass back to the huddle.
Some people can tolerate this kind of behavior when that player is producing and their team is winning but Jermichael is dropping balls and performing poorly and still doing all the above.

I love football and want "my team" to win but ultimately, I value character more than I do winning or money or anything else.

Cool. Not being a Pack fan, all I've really seen is the football stuff you mentioned. He seems to drop a lot of passes, but he also seems to tear off some ridiculous catches.

Thanks for the answer, in any event.

He does. That's why the Packers are going to keep him.
They're just going to hope to God that he grows up in the mean time.

It's frustrating for fans because he's in a contract year and should be having the best season of his career but it's hit-or-miss.

In the event of a premature season end, I just want to see interesting games. I cannot wait for the 49ers Saints game.

I don't root for anyone since I hate everyone not a Packer, and some Packers.
Exactly. Some of my friends don't get it, but I'm excited for the entire weekend of football, not just Sunday.

/cut
Yeah this is why they will be keeping him. He's still young, too. 24? Hopefully as he gets older his head matures.
It's too bad he's having his problems, too. I think I read that he is dropping 11% of passes his way? Crazy. And it doesn't help, because fans singled him out for the KC loss and he felt their response. I just hope he can have a good postseason.

Anyways, one more day to make it through until Saturday..yikes.

When he does eventually make it back to the huddle, he also requires being told where to line up. And not just in the making adjustments at the line type, but literally seems clueless as to where he's supposed to be half the time.

I really hope we don't have to put up with him for another year as is. He is a big mismatch in receiving, but he's a liability as a blocker that doesn't seem interested in improving that aspect. That said, if someone gives him a punch in the nuts and he gets his act together, he's quite an asset.

--- I'm really hype for the 49er/Saints game as well. In MMA terms, it's like the striker vs. wrestler match. It could be crazy game of chess, but it could also be a total dud if one of the teams disrespects the quality of the other and just gets man-handled.

how is his blocking?

if he is one dimensional then he could become a liability if he does not mature.

It's true.

It's why I hate your Lions. It's why I hate the Saints. It's why I hate the Patriots.
I wanted Walden benched/suspended after he beat up his girlfriend.

You want good people to succeed. It's as natural as wanting to kiss your cousin I mean something natural.

When he does eventually make it back to the huddle, he also requires being told where to line up. And not just in the making adjustments at the line type, but literally seems clueless as to where he's supposed to be half the time.
Yep. Super annoying.

Then I see videos where Rodgers is explaining the play in the huddle and realize how confusing everything must be.
I don't mind those as much as I mind the false starts.

how is his blocking?
Ok. Not as good as Andrew Quarless but it's okay.

Both patriots and lions have less players arrested than your GB. just in that statement is your hypocrisy . in fact lions have the least in all of football.

You are a packers fan , period. none of the other stuff will make crap of A difference. unless you are in a market that did not have a NFL team. All this flag waving of morality is pure BS.

Ok. Not as good as Andrew Quarless but it's okay.
That's another factor in it. Quarless will be out for part/most of next season, and I don't think MM and TT are willing to change the offense enough to cater to two unproven TE's as pass catchers. The Flynn situation could throw a curveball, but I doubt it.

I keep thinking Finley will kick it back into HoF status and eventually Rodgers' not so subtle hints to him will finally sink in.

Although I also thought the defense was going to completely turn things around from how they were playing.
They're saving it for the playoffs. Yeah... that's what it is...

Besides Walden, who on the team now has been arrested? Yep that's right - no one.

And they aren't doing anything illegal on the field, now are they?
Unlike the league leading personal foul, lineman kicking, salty baby Lions.

Yup, glad I'm a Niners fan. We only have to deal with tiny hands and a receiver who spent some time being a little bitch before he showed up this year!

I usually root for the players who EVERYBODY counts out or discredit. Cam Newton and Tim Tebow were perfect examples this year and Vick last year.

I'm a Chargers Fan and I hate the Raiders, Chiefs, Steelers, and Patriots. Denver, although in the same division, I'm rooting for since I love Tebow ots (trolololo). I was also cheering for the Jets just so I can see LT win a ring. However, I doubt that's going to happen since this is probably his last year. I can't wait to see 21 go up.

Just dreamt that I met Tim Tebow. He wanted to show me how to throw a football perfectly, but then my alarm clock rang. I think it saved me from a fucked up throwing motion...

Also, I've seen some people using :jnc outside of NFL GAF? I'm actually often about to do it myself, but then I realize that 90% won't get it.

If my team Isn't in the playoffs, I root against:

1. Any team in my division

2. Any team that beat us in the playoffs

3. Any team that prominently features players from schools in the same conference as my college.

Sometimes it's hard to find someone to cheer for.

This city is going to be insane if it's Tebow/Texans.

If neither make it I'm going to be :( .. but hey, it's the expected outcome anyway.

This has been the longest week ever...and the Texans don't play until Sunday. Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Sports radio and callers been goin hard on dat boy Flacco all week lol

I hate wasted talent. Guy is flat gifted but has a five cent brain. Part of the reason I think he acts like such an idiot is because he was close friends with known idiot, Nick Barnett. I don't want Finley having the same impact on the other young guys. I also hate inconsistency. I'd rather get 75% of Finley's production without the drops and mental errors than have Finley as a potential target making his spectacular catches but only doing so sometimes.

Being arrested is a barometer of character now? That Nelson Mandella guy must have been some kind of sick fucking sadist. He was in prison for years!!

Chad Ochocinco thought he had grown accustomed to Tom Brady’s intensity during the regular season, but he’s learned the last two weeks that Playoff Tom Brady is different.

“I was like, ‘Is Tom OK?’ You know, he’s intense, but this was like a whole new thing, man,” Ochocinco told Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports. “They were like, ‘It’s that time of the year, you just have to understand.’”

Dear Ochostinko,

Shut up and take your seat on the bench like a man!

Finley stuff
Yeah I mostly agree but I think they tag him and give him a year to prove himself or whatever.
Dude was sick against the Cardinals from memory and I'm sure that's what Ted is banking on.

Don't see him influencing people much though. There's too much character/leadership in that locker room to suffer fools.

That and I don't see the cracker barrel Ryan Taylor or christiany DJ Williams being swayed too much by Finleys whatever, assuming he doesn't grow out of it.

Man, Giants fans are stupid.

Maybe that's not fair to all of them. The ones that I interact with on a daily basis, listen to calling in to local radio and observe walking around the city are stupid.

Giants GAF is such an (awesome) outlier

I think most of the "character" arguments are overrated. Frankly, I feel there have only been a few notable instances worth looking my nose down at a football player. Ben and his two rape accusations. Donte Stallworth and manslaughter, Ray Lewis and his murder charge. Things like that.

Pacman Jones making it rain and Brian Cushing getting busted for roids? Big deal. The NFL should care about these things because they're trying to market these guys. The dick waving between fans is usually just "my dad can beat up your dad" garbage.
