I think most of the "character" arguments are overrated.
The NFL shouldn't police morality, no doubt, but if you commit a crime, you should be punished like everyone else.
Also if you do something illegal, that reflects badly on you and the company you work for. Consequences, man up.

Don't think everyone should be fired on the spot but sometimes you should.

Brees an insufferable douche so I cheer against him.

I thought Giants would get more votes.
Packers win by at least 2 TDs.

Brees an insufferable douche so I cheer against him. Minor. Who cares, really he plays QB well.

NFL players get away with shit most people couldn't in such a public job.

NFL players that commit crimes are punished. Only time they aren't really is when there's insufficient evidence, or they're innocent, or both. Even then they are often savaged in the court of public opinion.

Guys being douches is different. Cajunator will disagree, but Brees and Payton are huge douches. To that end though, I think Rodgers is a gigantic doucher, and just not for that whole cancer thing either. Same goes for a lot of other quarterbacks. Hubris and success often go hand in hand.

My choice is Jim Brown, RB for the Cleveland Browns.
Pro Bowl every year he played. Still holds some NFL records such as the only rusher to average over 100 yards per game for his career.

Edit: Not to actually come back, just dreaming.

1984 Dan Marino in this era.

Madden was just on NFLN and was asked if Brees/Brady breaking his record is a diminished accomplishment? Madden replied that it is and if Marino was playing the game today with the rules as they are, he'd pass for 10,000 yards. I would love to see it.

With Drug testing the way it is now that coke head would be out of theleague before he reaches 1000yds.

I have a feeling he will be the backup for the Jets next year unless McElroy shows greater growth.

And I'll take him. I mean if he brought a team like the bears to the Super Bowl...

If I had to choose somebody else I would probably say Joe Klecko or Archie Manning.

I'd like to see what Johnny Unitas would do in this league. I'd also give all the tea in China to watch Otto Graham in this league.

I'll go with Jack Lambert. Or Mean Joe Greene. Possibly Mel Blount.

Nitschke.

He'd be kicked out of the NFL after one game though.

Followed closely by Barry Sanders.

I wonder if Barry Sanders Jr. has skills. Guess we'll find out, he's going to Furd next year.

It's best to think of First Blood I as a separate entity from the other films. Rambo II is awesome, and so is the one from a couple of years ago

Rambo II and III are both meh.

First Blood is a stand alone like you said. The reboot was a ton of fun as well.

Just re-reading about Otto Graham, quite a career. And he played pro basketball. My dad saw him play several times and said he was the best QB of all time. He still is.

Looked decent in a recent High School All Star game.

Broadcaster recalled a story on Barry Sr., that he really didn't develope his now famous skills, until further along in College. Didn't start playing RB until his SR year in High School. Think the story was emphasized that while JR. doesn't have moves like his dad, give him time and he might.

On the subject of old time players coming back and playing now, most of my choices would be the QB's. Namath, Starr, Graham, Unitas, Tittle, etc. How would their arm strength and accuracy work in today's game. Did they have as good an arms as the current Superstar QBs.

Guess the Killer DB's from back in the day, as well. If only to see how much they'd be weakened from the rule changes on how you can tackle WR's. No more elbows to the head, helmet-2-helmet, etc.

He has to be the player that dominated his era the most. MVP in 5/10 years is such a crazy stat.

would like to throw out there that Duane Brown won his appeal the other day for "punching" clint sessions in the first jags texans game. He sent in other videos that showed he was pushed from behind.

And Troy Polamalu won his appeal for calling his wife after his concussion.

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu won his appeal of a $10,000 fine for using his cell phone on the sideline during a game, according to a league source.

Polamalu was notified of the verdict on Thursday.

He was fined for using his phone during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 16. Polamalu, who has a history of concussions, had a brief phone conversation with his wife near the Steelers' bench area after exiting the game with concussion-like symptoms.

Possession of cell phones, PDAs or other electronic equipment in the bench area during a game is strictly prohibited by NFL policy beginning 90 minutes before kickoff through the end of the game.

Bob Popper is much better (though not on TV)
Bob Papa you mean? Papa is fine as the radio announcer, yeah. He sucked on Thursday Night Football. I disagree with you on Banks though. I think he's a pretty solid analyst when he's calling games. Far from a homer as he's more than willing to shit on the Giants when they play a poor game.

Just curious as to what comment specifically set you off as I'm not listening to WFAN at the moment.

From reading the Atlanta Journal-Constitution sports, the Falcons are likely to go after Mike Nolan and Steve Spagnuolo. Could be a bidding war with the Eagles over Spagnuolo.

Nolan is a 3-4 guy while the Falcons are 4-3 but one of the posters said Nolan ran a 4-3 at Washington before he was DC for the Jets. Also, he did so well with the Broncos running a 3-4, maybe the Falcons would switch. Abraham may be leaving. I wonder if Ray Edwards could work in a 3-4.
