Saint Seiya 67-70

So that's why there are so many bishounen in Jump right now. Damn you Aphrodite!

Still think all but Ikki's fight was bullshit. Seriously underwhelming arc.

GO watch Hades ova arc once your done.

Aquarion Evol 1

Goddamn that has got to be the most garish color palette I've seen this side of Angel Beats. Still, I'm not gonna lie, this was sorta kinda fabulous to me. And DAT GATTAI. Now it just needs a theme song as awesome as this one and we're all set.

I was never able to finish the original Aquarion. Let's see how much I can last this time around.

What? I thought you would be the kind of person looking forward to Black Rock Shooter?

See, trejo, you're not fooling anyone.

Even I have standards!

Symphogear is so yuri that it can't help itself. The triangle is inevitable.

Of course, The Knight in the Area has now entered the Adachi zone. God damnit... well, if you're going to crib, crib from the best.
A yuri love triangle? Oh, I'm definitely staying away from that shit.

guilty crown 11

haha, that was the funniest FUCK YOU DAD i've ever seen.
rip dan, a true american hero *eagletear*

Won't lie, I think the ending is nucking futs. :p Apropos of nothing, I'll note that
Kozue & Wakaba also appear as cars in additiion to Utena & Shiori.

Missed Kozue but had a good laugh when I saw what Wakaba became.
. Hopping back to the tv series right quick,
what was the significance of Miki's stopwatch? I waited and waited for some explanation assuming one would come after Nanami brought it up directly in the show.

The Knight in the Area 1

That was pretty fun. The way the ball moved was very weird but I rather wait for a full match before judging the animations.

The brother isn't sticking around for a long time is he? Or is the manga based on brotherly cooperation?

Watch the second episode and you'll find out. :)

Noooo turn back. Turn back!

I really hate it when an anime jumps from arc to arc with barely any backstory actually being revealed and instead bad shit just happens. It's such a shame because I really like the cast for Index.

Q: Ikuhara-san, Chiho Saito has said that you have never told her the truth about it, could you explain the significance of Mickey and his stopwatch. What exactly is his role on the Council?

A: It has a very deep significance. His stopwatch contains the key to open all the mysteries of the world. And Mickey is the only one who knows that. So I don't know what it is either.
lol

Persona 4 13&14
That was pretty fun.

Ano Natsu de Matteru 1
I wish that the IS Ichika would be replaced with this one. I didn't expect the 30 RockxIdolm@ster crossover there. His best bro is awesome.

Thermae Romae 1
Shitty animation aside, that was pretty fun.

Thermae Romae 2
Fuck?

Symphogear 2

Those two are so going to get it on sooner or later. Also, that ED strikes me as trying way too hard.

And I can't recall the last time I saw so many naked chicks in an OP. Star Driver, perhaps?

See? Not fooling anyone.

And here I thought I'd been doing a good job faking it.

That High School monster anime. The first frames of the OP are all the girls naked.

It really isn't. My enjoyment was a mere footnote - not really important enough for the point I was trying to make to put any emphasis on, but something I wanted to mention nevertheless.
Then you're referring to worse shows you've watched and enjoyed, right? If you were implying and still think Haruhi is a worse show than Horizon, then your list isn't merely shows you thought were worse and may have enjoyed but only shows of the former. In which case, the parentheses isn't a mere footnote since your list is based on that requirement.

Inu x Boku SS 1
So we got:
A tsun tsun angsty loli
A bishie that is either always sparkling or crying
And, everyone else. And then suddenly, monsters?
Uh, if you lower the angst, boost up the action/comedy and supernatural, I'll keep watching. And, they probably won't.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country Café - Episodes 1 & 2

A bit of music to set the mood.

Here we are with the second YKK OVA, released in 2002 (four years after the first). Animated by a different studio, I find it takes on a brighter and slightly cuter look. Overall everything seems a bit cleaner, animation wise. There are scenes where they make great use of blur and panning of separate layers to give a great sense of depth.

Once again the music complements the accompanying scenes perfectly. Never does it feel intrusive.

To truly appreciate YKK one should read the manga. It can be hard to get a sense of how much time passes as the OVA's mainly focus on Alpha, whom is ageless. Children grow up, people depart, and the landscape slowly changes. There are many mysteries in this semi-futuristic world which are never touched upon here. Still, these OVA's do provide a nice glimpse.

Now I have the urge to re-read the manga. I leave you with various pics of Alpha. Enjoy!

a full 24 episode anime adaption of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is top of my "most wanted but never going to happen" list
right next to an official English translation of the manga :/

So I had some time and watched 1 episode on an anime.

It was Inu to Boku

Oh god, my eyes.

Watching a kugiloli show without the kugi is kinda hard. I'm always kinda expecting her to break out into urusai urusai urusai.

High School DxD 2

This show is about as bad as it is entertaining. As generic as it might be, there are far worse ways to waste time, that's for sure. I like how sincere the show is, though. It simply doesn't give a fuck. They want to show boobs? They show boobs. No stupid excuses, no made-up explanations. It's too blatant to even feel awkward.
The plot of DxD has generic elements but overall is not too bad. The manga, which is also based on the LN, shows some nice glimpses. It is heavy with fan-service but it's not the entire focus. The anime is the opposite and kills anything decent about DxD. Awful.

I have no doubt that SatoJun discovered Choro Club via these OVAs. They're also so similar that it's no wonder that people like to pretend that YKK is a prequel to Aria.

That looks so mono no aware it actually kinda hurts a bit.
It's right up there with Shinkai and Aria, yes.
Yep. Although YKK moreso, because they are basically living through the extinction of the human race.

Maybe SatoJun can make it a passion project before he's done with animu.

He just needs to do another season of Phi Brain to make it happen.

I hear you. Maybe someday we'll be proven wrong.

Not likely.

There's so much of that in the manga, though the OVAs capture it very well. The series is more 'world exploration' to me as Alpha discovers the more wonderful than sad world around her. In that respect Aria is very similar.

*bumps the YKK OVA's up on the watchlist*

Guilty Crown 12

This show has a rather impressive capacity at reaching new depths of stupidity.
I never thought i'd ever see a rehash of FF8's terrible ending but there you go. Now with Gai finally dead Shu might actually become as somewhat decent and enjoyable charactahhhahahahaha who the fuck am i kidding.

Everywhere you turn there's remnants of humanities past claim on the earth.

I never found it to be a sad world either. Humanity has accepted its fate and is living their remaining days in peace. At least that is how it seems. Since the story is mostly told through Alpha's point of view, every thing usually seems quite cheerful.

Edit:

It's the one odd and maybe "skeevy" moment in the OVAs anyway. Although I suppose there's always the alternative reading of it - the mechanical has turned to the intimately biological, able to regain what humanity has lost. Or something.

You spread her legs and stick your finge.... Oh wait, that's Chobits.

For what ever reason there are two female robots kissing. It's not something I'm going to ponder about too much.

Yup. In essence, :firehawk.

And while ABF will disagree, it's exactly how Sora no Woto ends as well, which is probably why I like it as much as I do.

A kugiloli who doesn't want to be a tsundere but a genki girl.

Shu can't man up; with Gai dead, he will inherit his harem of Ayase and student council tits. A guy with more than 3 girls after his dick can't man up, that goes after the rules of harem anime.

A kugiloli who doesn't want to be a tsundere but a genki girl.

I was interested because I thought the manga art looked good. The anime looks like different versions of barf though. Couple that with boring characters, the not-kugiloli and the crazy masochist butler, I'm out.

Hey, it's a good thing people aren't still in the middle of shows like Sora no Woto and don't want to know how they end, right?

Oh wait.

While I haven't seen SnW, I'm not sure that was even a spoiler.

Symphogear 02: It's Mega Man meets yuri meets Kingdom Hearts' Heartless rejects meets oversized Monster Hunter weapons meets Nana Mizuki's awesome anisongs meets Star Trek technobabble.

This is going to be the Infinite Stratos/Senjou no Horizon of the season: pandering mediocrity that sells better than anything else, reminding us why anime keeps dying again and again.
This track still gets to me. ;_;
A huevo. ;_;

Fixed and I doubt it. Nisemonogatari will be the pandering mediocrity that sells better than anything else.

Did anyone note the first story details have been revealed for that new film from Time of Eve director Yasuhiro Yoshiura?
The story will take place in an underground world where tunnels extend everywhere. Even though they live in dark and confined spaces, people wear protective clothes and lead quiet and enjoyable lives. Patema, a princess in her underground village, loves to explore the tunnels. Her favorite place is a "danger zone" that her village prohibits people from entering. Even though she's scolded, Patema's curiosity can't be held back. No one ever explained what the supposed danger was. On her usual trip to the "danger zone," Patema faces unexpected events. When hidden secrets come to light, the story begins to unfold.
