Hey animu-GAF, help pick my next movie to watch for me: Colorful or Shinkai's new film (Children who Chase Lost Voices etc etc.)?

Lagrange 02

I've already gotten the sense that the villains aren't really all that evil and that Madoka will team up with them against some as-yet unknown enemy by the end of this series.

Aquarion Evol - 03 (NSFW)

Anyway, I expected as much when the last attack didn't wreck the school. We're in this
no co-ed
bullshit for the long haul. Ugh.

Ano Natsu de Matteru 1

Pretty darn boring and by the numbers. I really don't see myself keeping up with this one. Hell, it doesn't even have Secret Base.

Colorful. And I haven't even seen it.

Adolescence of Utena

Wow at everything. I cant believe it's all over @_@

I wasn't expecting the movie to be set in an alternate reality. Finding out that Touga was just a figment of Utena's imagination was pretty crazy. That whole scene was so amazing.

Not to forget Utena TRANSFORMING IN TO A FUCKING CAR!

Everything about the final scenes were just insane.

Overall this has been a great and very memorable ride. Loved every character in one way or another. The revelations were also fantastic along with the execution.

The most FABULOUS Anime of all time, and that will ever exist.

All of the above is true.

You can pretty much tell what the story is going to be about just by knowing that it's made by Shinkai.
Another bawling bittersweet story? Or has he finally broadened his themes?

Episode of 7 of Michoko to Hatchin is the bad one? I think not!

I can see why you liked it*cough*monocle*cough*, for me being stylish (classy) is no excuse for wasting my time (no substance, rushed/half assed and unsatisfying ending)
machiko in counter with Bruno felt more animu then classy soap drama with michinko being infatuated with him at first sight(womanizers use their sleek words to catch their prey not there magic powers) , main issue with it was how it was resolved with a few simple words from the wife then cut to hatchin swimming contest then her waking up after drowning with minchiko sleeping there like it was all a half assed filler dream intended to waste 20mins of the viewer time.

The highlight of the episode was the environment (underwater ruins, marsh swamp town) and pants pirate kid.

2 unsatisfying endings(michiko &hatchin story) in one episode makes it the worst ep so far

The tv show in episode 12 was hell of lot more FABULOUS and classy

Colorful it is, then.

Disappointing to hear about Shinkai's film, but then again, Voices of a Distant Star was the only one of his I ever really liked.

I like the Rinne no Lagrange OP
still dont want to watch the show though

Same.

I've had much bad experience with modern mecha shows in the past few seasons (Infinite Stratos, Strike Witches (lol), Star Driver and Guilty Crown to name a few).

Ended up dropping all of them.

It's not a genre that I invest much time in and whenever I do decide to check one out it always seems like such a waste of time!

The only 3 mecha shows that I've actually enjoyed are:

-Gurren Lagann
-Code Geass
-Evangelion

Will look in to some more late 90's/early 00's shows at some point.

This time he attempted to pull a Ghibli and failed miserably.

But hey, can't fault him for trying, right?

Is it at least entertaining? The art looks nice so I kinda wanna check it out.

Try Heroic Age, stat!

Bloody hell, you might as well watch Sousei no Aquarion while you're at it.

So far Rinne no Lagrange doesn't fit in that category, have you tried Full Metal Panic?

Loved Fumoffu and liked the characters a lot, so maybe I will enjoy the main series?

Will check out Eureka 7. I noticed some praise on here a while back for it.

Normally 50 episodes would be a bit too much, but now that I've finished Utena, Nodame and since I haven't picked up many shows this season I should be able to marathon it.

And Rinne no Lagrange is pretty much not like all these shows.

Sounds good then. Will keep an eye on impressions for episode 3 & 4 and if it remains fairly positive then I will check it out.

Rinne no Lagrange 2

anime needs more protag's like madoka. the op's still owns.

Same.

So far Rinne no Lagrange's actually good unlike those shows.

Also Escaflowne
and if you're going to watch E7 it might be best to start soon since theres a new series airing very soon

The new one, so frontier i guess.

understandable then

Given that list you provided, it's a step up, although that's a given seeing how awful those other shows are.

I wouldn't even consider FMP a mecha show. It's fucking awesome, though.

Half mecha, half high school hijinks (although toned down from fumoffu).

Code Geass Ep. 12

Was that one girl doing in the dark what I think she was doing? O_O

Yes.

Brave 10

You know, I was contemplating giving this one more episode but then that horrendous autotuned crap in the ED fully convinced me not to. It's a good thing too cause I'm already watching too much crap as it is.

And that's the last of the shows I wanted to check out. I guess there's still Knight in the Area but I'm not really into soccer all that much so I don't know.

Rinne no Lagrange 2

Dammit, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to add anything unexpected to my watchlist for the season but they've got me here. Definitely enjoying this show so far. I also noticed it's apparently a two-cour winter/summer show, so hopefully they have the time to make a give us a good story.

its mecha in the same way Ghost in the Shell is
as in, its not the main attraction, just features futuristic weaponry

True, but it's good training wheels into the mecha genre.

Too early to say it definitively, but it's looking like Soccer is to KotA to what Karuta is to Chihayafuru.
