Aquarion 15

We're seriously doing an episode about this? Really? 0_o

That running on air "dribble" scene was amazing though.

Working!! 1-5 (first season): I like it. I somehow like Inami more than the other girls, even though she would kill me instantly.

Finally started watching Gundam 00, which is weird because I consider myself to be a Gundam fan, yet I waited four years to watch this. But yeah, I like it so far, only four episodes in though, so I guess I'll like it a bit less when I reach the end.

But Exia is amazing, it could become my favorite Gundam yet, I love everything about it.

Aquarion Evol 3

Yeah, this is a Kawamori show. Too ambitious for it's own good and extremely pathetic, but enjoyable nevertheless. The main problem so far is exemplified by it's soundtrack: It's Kanno, it's great and powerful, but there are no highlights yet.

Also, for fucks sake, if you want to make a point without sounding ridiculous, call the wall "Mauer", or "Berliner Mauer" (shortened "Mauer"). Don't call it "Berlin". That's just stupid. It's kinda offensive either way, as the real wall was something else to begin with, but yeah...

And while we're at it: "Aufwachschlagen" (Symphogear) is a correct German word, but it makes no sense, either. I know it's supposed to be a literal translation of "beat of awakening", but it doesn't work like that. German usually never uses the literal translation of "beat" when it comes to music - it's not "Schlag", it's "Takt". So "Takt des Erwachens" or "Auftakt des Erwachens" is what the writer probably wanted.

It's okay, Gokujyo is not that great of a series anyway. A bad use of Miyazaki Miya's artistic talents!

icecream, you should visit the IRC sometime.
B-But it seems rather... imposing.
Nowhere else will you find such a wretched hive of scum and villainy?

I agree with everything you've said about these two series, except that you got them backwards. Bodacious Pirates is the one that's slow and boring and dull and shit.
They both have the problem of slow progression, but at least Pirates has the more amusing cast at the moment. But they're both interesting shows, and it's good to see people are enjoying Lagrange, because it doesn't seem to be getting as much love at the moment, which it should!

Taraku-desgned high school students making a movie also reminds me of another work from more than 10 years ago.
That's a dangerous thought... though I don't think Komi Akira is actually involved in AnoNatsu, unlike the previous two. So perhaps we'll see Kaito fall off a waterfall and get healed by magical parfaits or something...

I'm pretty sure the figure that came with the US DVD was the Yujin SR DX figure of Anita (did Kaiyodo actually do an Anita figure? Serious question, I can't remember) - in which case, I hate to break it to you, but...

I seem to own a Maggie figure which doesn't exist ^^;

Yeah I have one too,. This one:

Have you ever been kidnapped by a bunch of (hairy) circus freaks and forced to watch bad anime for their amusement? It's like that.

I'm going to blame this one on Geneijin.

Although ultimately it's all Hitokage's fault, as ever.
One ep is all it takes to prove the point. Please don't continue.

Gintama 242

This is pretty much the best thing ever for Dragonball fans. Was getting MAJOR deja-vu from that conversation about Vegeta with Bulma. Seems to be one of those discussions a lot of fans have.

This reminds me, I need to finish Kai one of these days. Think the neighbors have it all on blu-ray, so I should go over there or something.

Has there been anything as awesomely hot blooded as Gurren Lagann since...Gurren Lagann?

No moe would be a nice plus.

(only newer anime, please. I already have a laundry list of old super robot anime I need to watch through, I don't need to add to that list)

But I'm there :(

I'd welcome you with open arms! Aren't we nakamas?

Except Kanno's only involvement is the newer Akino songs and her music from last season being reused. The new background music you do hear, however, is entirely Ayako Otsuka (Zegapain).

I'll have to regrettably say no.

2 episodes in, and people are complaining of slow progression?

Are you people ADD?
First impressions are important, and two episodes is like forty minutes. If the first two episodes are slow the show is failing to grab its audience in the way that it should. It means the story started in the wrong place and the viewer winds up having to sit through a bunch of meaningless exposition. It's amateurish on the part of the creators really.

Toriko isn't, but it gets close at times. There's also Dororon Enma-Kun Meramera, but that has some moe (rather disturbing moe at that).

Edit: Oh, and also Needless, but that has some very... interesting fanservice. Just watch the OP.

I didn't say you'd agree with me. I said he was right.

That's a no-go for me. Even the innocuous moe in Sacred Seven pisses me off.

I'll check out Toriko, though. I've wanted to for a while.

There's always Sengoku Basara. There's only like three women in the entire series.

But TTGL is chock full of moe crap too.

And it does a great job of calling attention to it in hilarious ways. Don't you dare try to bring logic and rationale into this discussion to dissect why I love GL.

The line gets drawn where the moe stuff seems more like pandering than humor, and seems to be an earnest inclusion in the world building. When it's for humor's sake, It's just fine.

I think I'm caught up on Basara, though I've only been watching it on Hulu.

That show is brilliance in anime form.

the second Hajime no Ippo season aired after gurren lagaan
so if you never saw that show then i dont know what to say

edit:
A friend saw School Days based on my recommendation
Lan says:
*did not sleep well last night
*and was about to puke thinking about it

I still read the Ippo manga. I don't really watch anime for things I can read in manga form (though I did watch the movie for the fantastic Dempsey roll at the end)

Ah, nice. Have you seen the movie yet, though? Pretty much the pinnacle of the series.

Shit, there's a movie? Good lord, Dresden, WHY DID NO ONE INFORM ME?!

Also, I love Eden of the East. The first movie seems to be on netflix. Is that a retelling, or does it continue from the end of the series?

Panty And Stocking with Garterbelt has a lot of spiritual similarities to TTGL...particularly if you want "hot blooded". I would guess most people have already tried it though.

Oh in that case, then Enma-Kun might be good for you after all. It's a remake of a 70s Go Nagai anime/manga from the GaoGaiGar director (which shares a lot in common with TTGL). Check out the OP to see if you can forgive the moe.

Shit, from the gaogaigar director? That's all you had to say. GaoGaiGar is genius.

(Just checked the OP. Not a fan of the character designs, but I'll keep an open mind and check it out)

I really like Panty and Stocking, but never finished the series (honestly no real reason why I didn't). That Transformers episode was fucking amazing.

The two Eden movies are a continuation of the story.

I do second cosmic's Dororon Enma-kun recommendation, though. It's Go Nagai, it's hot blooded as fuck, and it's perverted as fuck but in a wholesome old-school way. The show has its faults but hey, nothing's perfect.

e: fuck, beaten

Straight sequel. Both movies continue from exactly where ever the previous piece left off.

Fantastic, I'll watch it this week. Thanks for the info.

Btw, has Guilty Crown gotten any better, or is the main character still a giant shitlord?
