A loli without the sexualization ceases to be anywhere close to a loli though.:P

people will still call them "lolis" over "little girls" though
with the exception to maybe usagi drop
though im pretty sure ive seen a few people still call her that

Night Of The Living Giraffes 02

enjoying this but those necks are the creepiest thing about this show

So, here is a proper list of all shows from this season so far that have been picked up for disc release:

Licensed by Sentai
Zero no Tsukaima F
Moeretsu Pirates
Ano Natsu de Matteru
Another
Inu x Boku SS

Licensed by NISA
Natsume Yuujinchou Shi
Brave 10

All of which are of course also being simulcast, and none of which are past their second episode.

I must have missed the license of Another. Moretsu Pirates was a nice pick up and Blu-Ray too, cant wait to see whom they choose for voicing the cast.

Just realized Sentai hasnt announced their dub casts for shows picked last year. Still waiting on knowing who will do Shion and Nezumi in No. 6

Princess Tutu 15

I adore the imagery in this series. The crow dancers are fantastic That said I fear this is about to nosedive into mindfuck territory before long.

I suspect one aspect of the show will involve their necks slowly getting more elongated to make the audience more uneasy.

Gurren Lagann - 12

Oh wow this show has done a bath house episode and now a beach episode both done right and filled with manly spirit.

I think I'm tripping balls here.

thats a pretty all encompassing definition and would definitely include fetishism
Then use Colony Drop's definition:
Moé, lit. “sprouting,” is a loanword from Japanese fandom, generally used to refer to characters or aspects of characters that elicit feelings of sympathy or adoration, such as personality or physical appearance, as well as related aesthetic styles.
I disagree the main feelings elicit from moe are sympathy and adoration but that's another discussion entirely.

Then use Colony Drop's definition:

I disagree the main feelings elicit from moe are sympathy and adoration but that's another discussion entirely.

I like that definition, but why is Colony Drop a more respectable source?
and yet you disagree with them? how is it not subjective again?

While that is debatable, the point is your suggestion of the word having an "apparent sexual appeal and connotation" as well as being synonymous with "loli" are decidedly incorrect, even if there is a vague discord over what the word exactly represents.
Yes, exactly.

Now let's get all the moe scholars up in here to continue this ongoing debate.
No.

Hanasaku Iroha 20:
It was nice to get some more background on Minchi after all this time. I feel like she was fleshed out a little better here. Nako had some great moments, too, and the episode was pretty fun overall. It was an experience full of youth.

It feels crazy to me that so many shows from this season have already been announced for release. I guess most of them are probably just the simulcasts stuck on a disc, but it seems weird on the heels of Bandai just going 'fuck it'.

I like that definition, but why is Colony Drop a more respectable source?
I prefer that definition over TVTropes'. Nothing more.

and yet you disagree with them? how is it not subjective again?
Because I don't think sympathy is as much of a major component to moe as they're emphasizing it to be when they say it elicits feelings of sympathy or adoration.

It's not subjective because the main definition is still being debated but not its implicit meaning we already know about.

implicitly subjective
settled then
Actually, I have to ask. If you were willing to quote TVTropes for an ill-defined definition of moe, why is it that you still think it "has a very apparent sexual appeal and connotation among anime fans?" Because you're use to using moe with that context or what?

because k-on turns up some of the highest counts of nsfw images :P
this, and of the k-on fans ive known, all of them have been perverted towards it
it does kind of feel like a blue balling kind of anime, with the character archetypes seemingly taken out of a hentai

I see that Uchip has managed to shit up the thread yet again. You guys really need to ignore him tbh.

Man, so after blowing hundreds of dollars on animu, I'm left with two boxes of DVDs that I'll probably just keep sealed forever.

Anyway, it was nice to receive my TSRI-only box today:

(Super low res 3ds camera says hi!)

But between Aria, Maria, Utena and SnW, I think I own more than half the TSRI catalog now.

Oh man, Marimite ;_;

I pre-ordered the Bunny Drop movie last night. Felt so good.

Spirited Away is also my favorite Ghibli movie. The train scene is proof of just how well Miyazaki/Ghibli can build a world and tell stories.

Pretty much the entire movie is like that. It's one of the most imaginative films I've ever seen, while also telling a wonderful coming-of-age story.

But it's actually all about Marxism.

Im discussing a legitimate incongruity of definition and you're really going to jump on this as an opportunity to be hostile towards me?
like i said, if a few people want me to not post here then I wont. But your attitude doesn't add anything positive.

doesn't move the conversation forward in any way other than saying "Oh hey I know some pervs, go me!"

The moe discussion is played out. Believe what you want to believe. You think everything in the world is sexualized and everyone wants to hump everyone else like dogs in heat. More power to you.

this is just hyperbole for the sake of insulting me
its your choice to become disgruntled over someones opinion and nobody elses
I even added a little smiley in there so that oversensitive people like you would know that it wasn't serious

And yet, I'm not the one comparing K-On characters to hentai stereotypes. Funny that.

I get it
I knocked your favourite anime
now read the previous post without adding a snide comment.

the difference being that you made it personal, whereas im making observations about the show, no matter how accurate they may be.
this isnt console wars, you dont have to get juvenile when someone doesnt like something that you do.

Then yeah, you're confusing the vocal minority as being the dominant opinion then. Also, anecdotal evidence isn't really keen on being actually factual.

You should at least wear it everywhere you go for me, preferably combined with a Halycon 01 neogaf shirt.

The boxes are pretty cool looking, tho, I have to admit. :p
I haven't taken it out of the packaging, but the ring seems to be pretty big. I'd do it as a necklace, since I'm already rocking a Guanyin charm thingie.

K-On isn't even my favorite anime but hey, keep attacking it.

I was making an observation that you have managed to yet again offer banality about how moe is sexualized and yet when asked about shows that do not have sexual components, claim that the non-sexuality is the sexuality. How do you expect the conversation to move forward with that?

Queen's Blade -> sexualized
K-On -> sexualized
Usagi Drop-> ?!

im not going to reply to you if you're just going to exaggerate and insinuate
what happened to not shitting up the thread and ignoring me?
