One Piece

Like others have pointed out, it was your standard "time to head on to the next island" chapter. Finally, they're heading to a new world...! Madame Shirley's prediction is worrying because her prediction might come true in a few years...
Overall it was a good chapter, with plenty of content and a good way to end the fishman island arc. Jinbei will join the Straw hats eventually...!

Naruto

Fucking brilliant chapter for 2 reasons. The bijuu's are being synched through gedo mazoo. Ergo, they're still in the statue...! TThe Bijuu themselves remained in Gedou Mazou. Their chakra is being transmitted, and bound to the ressurected Jinchuuriki through the chakra receivers I legitimately thought Tobi was stupid enough to unseal them and place them into cadavers... Naruto is finally going to combine with the Fox, similar to Killer Bee. Some of you guys can troll all you want, but this chapter was bloody awesome the best we've gotten in ages. Like seriously, what do you want to Kyuubi to do? Die alongside Naruto???

Luffy's gotta tear his straw hat somewhere along the way and for some reason he'd still be holding on to it, even though I would assume he'd have met shanks by the time he returns to FI.

Before you can rag on Kyuubi being a Tsundere, I found this picture that perfectly represents the Kyuubi's relationship with Naruto.

I beat you guys to it!

One Piece

lolz at Luffy.

The log pose that twitches the most is the most dangerous.

Hey Nami that one is moving the most, lets go there.

One Piece C

Meh chapter, but kind of strange that Jinbe didn't follow them to New World just yet. Seems like he'll appear later but I'm not sure if we're just gonna jump into Big Mam arc just yet. Feels like we're getting another Alabasta-type situation where the crew is just traveling to different islands, which of course the main villains will be Big Mam's crew as normal.

Naruto C

Meh chapter, as usual.

Bleach F

If Bleach WAS published I would give it this grade cause Aizen would be brought back with the dragonballs starting a new BS arc where he, Ukitake, and Yammy team up to destroy Ichigo and his shitty friends.

naruto

that was one of the best chapters in recent memory. so, so good, especially that last page. giving me oldschool naruto awesomeness vibes again.

Otaku no Musume-san vol 3

This is too great. All the characters are awesome, the manager is awesome, Kanau's friends are awesome, and the main cast is awesome. Nitta by far has the best panels especially the ones where he keeps trying to kidnap Kanau.
The middle of Otaku is the best part, which you are in right now. The characters are definitely the highlight of the manga though there are some sparingly placed duds. Nitta always gets me with his loli antics especially with some jokes you will see later on.

It's a shame that the series runs out of steam at the end along with one ridiculously poorly animated event. But, overall it is a better then average series and a worthwhile read.

naruto: talk no jutsu complete! lol lets all sit back and enjoy the bullshit sasuke will pull out of his ass to keep up. in the end he will probably take control of that statue with all the tailed beasts powers.

one piece: nice to see them finally go to the new world. i hope oda finally does a proper what are they doing now chapter and shows us what blackbeard and shanks looks like and also shows us the supernovas.

That his eyes evolve into the Rinengan (sp?)
Naw more like Sasuke will gain an Infinite Sharingan that evolves into an Infinite Rinnegan and since infinity is in a circle it'll change back at forth randomly. It'll turn out that it isn't the moon that Tobi is using to hypnotize the world, but rather Sasuke himself.

Naruto
Seriously what ridiculous bulshit will Kishi come up with for Sasuke to even keep up with Naruto...
Actually, it's Naruto now who can keep up with Sasuke now.
Remember that Naruto needed Gaara and Oonoki's help to get a opening on EMS Madara. His FRS would never do shit to Yama Mirror and he didn't had any answer to Sasuke's Genjutsu. Kyuubi's help has just put Naruto and EMS Sasuke on equal terms.

One Piece

Good old OP humor.

It was meh chapter, but what can you do. We will suffer through horrible startup until shit finally gets real.

One Piece

I am SO down for another Baroque Works-type arc. Dude.

Dude. Let's go. Bunch of islands, one arc. I'm ready.
Not a big fan of that tbh, but with Oda's experience with other arcs we're destined to get great things so whatever, it'll balance out. I've always thought Little Garden and Whiskey Peak, alongside Foxy, are the closest things to filler in One Piece manga. However I doubt Oda will go back to it and make the arc important and have meaning to it.

Naruto

Man calling the Fox a tsundere is quite literally no longer a joke, he quite literally is a tsundere, like, completely and utterly.

One Piece

Curious when we'll see Jimbei again, I think that by the sound of his talk with the king & the arc we're heading towards he might show up when we're getting close to the actual end of the Big Mum arc. At least that's my expectation.

Otherwise not much to say about the chapter, it's the very definition of a transitional chapter, the humor was good and it also shows how the Straw Hats left an impact, but didn't just magically solve the race issue just like that, which is cool.

The new log pose is interesting but unless the translations were off, it's not the most movement that matters, but the weirdest movement right?

Considering this is Oda we're talking about I expect there to be something to the compass that'll add a twist beyond what we've been told in the same way that the log pose ended up pointing at the sky.

The final page excited me most by far though, I can't believe we'll finally be heading towards THE NEW WORLD!

A little p.s. to Naruto: This is how you do a decent flashback compilation.

Shut the fuck up Wiseblade, you know One Piece is at it's best when it's telling a story rather than going to random places for the lulz

Why do you need to be meanspirited about it?

One Piece is great at having "random" weird places that tie in to the story excellently, it combines adventure yet making that adventure impactful to the overal story amazingly.

I don't see Wiseblade saying they shouldn't have significant/plot related stuff, but the fun settings are just as important to what makes OP great as the deeper plot is,
they're not mutual exclusives.

/double edit

Okay I just noticed Wiseblade's punch gif.

What's up with some of you guys? Seriously. Differences of opinion are like a deathsin to mangaf or something.

My definition of filler is way different than yours then. I don't think there's a speck of fillerness in Little Garden. Zoro and Usopp both got a +1 there from me. As in, there's no Zoro or Usopp without Little Garden. Especially Usopp but cutting the legs was pretty woah too.
The introduction of giants could've probably been done elsewhere but, um, if we went in with that kind of attitude then any arc would be filler

And I'm not even saying anything in regards to the actual enjoyability of the arc here (though I think it's way more important than if it was pointless or not, but hey).

This is giving me flashbacks to when I was with Stat Flow on HxH before (digressing everywhere vs going straight to the good stuff). Maybe I'm just coming from a different POV than you guys. I'd pick digressing any day, no hesitation at all. Triply so if it's as good as Little Garden.

I agree with Big One. I don't give a fuck about arcs like Little Garden or to an extent, Baroque Works. I love stuff like Loguetown or Jaya much more. Where the main cast isn't doing important shit...these In-Between-Arcs that actually take that time to build on the world or give information about shit/people we care about are great. Fun settings aren't necessarily unimportant ones either.

And yeah, this does remind me of the HxH discussion from way back when. However, the difference here is that arcs like Little Garden do, as upandaway said, build on characters I care about. +1 to Oda for that, but I say that the particular development at that time isn't really necessary. Water 7 is proof that Oda can find ways to fit the character development in perfectly during an important arc.

Up until that huge flashback, the manga was great. I don't know how I feel about that landlady flashback. Seems way too contrived and something just added for the heck of it cause the mangaka needed something to pad the manga.

The cold truth about mangaf

Anyone remember when the Ninetails was a murderous untrustworthy beast that was supposed to be kept sealed forever?

Good times.

Don't forget that Little Garden was Mr 3's introduction and was the first example of "Grand Line islands can be ANYTHING!"

I think you're taking it more seriously than I am. Besides, I use that GIF all the time, and it's never about anything serious.
"I put my right shoe on before my left." *luffypunch*
"I like winter more than summer" *luffypunch*
"I like warm milk with my cereal" *luffypunch*
although that last one is serious business.

I'm glad someone remembers.

"But...but...it had to happen eventually!"

Yeah, no shit. But not like this.

Just watch, at this point every Naruto characters will turn into good guys by the time the manga ends, including Madara/Tobi/Whoever the fuck he is.

One Piece

I don't know why everyone is comparing it to Baroque already. While that was one of my favorite "arcs" getting up to Crocodile, that doesn't really seem to be whats going on. Big Mam doesn't seem to have some wide crew doing her bidding across like Baroque had. If we get some small island stories, that will be excellent. I just don't think it can be compared to Baroque.

On a completely different note, I almost had a heart attack seeing Jinbei there. We dodged a bullet today with him joining. Robin is just fine for the straight-edge crew member. If he actually does join the crew in the future I'll be sad. I'd rather he stay like Vivi and just be one of the "crew" off the ship.

Not comparing it, just bringing it up (more because the structure is awesome for introducing a new sea and not because of Big Mom)

I should probably clarify but I was only joking in response to Wiseblade's gif for the most part and didn't intend to be hostile by any means. It completely acceptable to prefer different ways of storytelling as both, in One Piece's case, are perfectly viable at what they do. Mainly the reason why I prefer an arc like CP9 over an arc like Little Garden has to do with the fact that while the crew is still travelling to a random island, they do have a goal in mind which leads to character development. CP9 also tied into the bigger backstory and lore of the series while an arc like Little Garden did not (aside from Vivi's comment about how islands in the Grand Line work).

It's not like the crew stops travelling to random islands. The amount of time spent at Whiskey Peak is roughly the amount of time the crew stayed at Water 7, for example, despite one being drastically longer than another when it came to the action sequences and story itself.

But knowing Oda if we do get small arcs like Baroque Works again, it'll probably be stuf flike Drum Island again.

One Piece
Was Luffy using his neck to coil round Nami like a goddam Cobra? If so, that is amazing. A whole new level of Gomu Gomu creepy what with him appearing so quickly and quietly like that.

Naruto
Did someone bro-fist Kishi at a con a year or so ago and its become his obsession ever since? Can't be bothered to explain convenient plot-speedening psychic abilities? Thats a bro-fist. Magical exchange of powers? Thats a bro-fist. Naruto and Sasuke reuinion? Thats a bro-fisting.

It was more of a general statement, I've seen people get very hostile about stuff in the past, that small interaction between you and Big One just reminded me of it again.

Honestly it was more Big One's post that bothered me than yours.

/edit

Thanks for the clarification Big One, sometimes I have a really really hard time telling if some of you are just being goofy or what.

Watch the manga end with Sasuke and Naruto fisting.

Great Naruto chapter, the kyuubi/Naruto dynamic should make for some laughs. Sasuke fucked? I'm sure Kishimoto will invent some bullshit-jutsu to level the playing field.

Eden: It's an Endless World! vol. 3

Well damn. I figured the guy was going to die, but I really wasn't expecting the girl to die as well.
