Heavy Rain was the best game released last year.
This sounds so dirty
Also, wtf with the Starcraft hate?? I understand Starcraft 1 with it's awful pathfinding and anachronistic control but Starcraft 2?? If you want something with real grand time strategy, how about going to the awesome genre of turn based? Or hear they are really good and shit.
Seriously, played SupCom, Sins of a Solar Empire and both were slow and boring games that lacked the depth of turnbased but had none of the fun of Starcraft. There.
If you want to be an idiot and generalize people then sure, but I would hope GAF posters would move past thus.It seems that mostly anyone with a Japanese style avatar of an obscure Japanese game tends to have the same opinion about western gaming and Japanese gaming in general.
How people complain about the amount of text and cutscenes in the last Zelda and prefer actual RPGs with even more text, numbers management, and cutscenes, baffle me.
but okay
Don't let the envy confuse you. It does.![]()
I think it aged 'okay' in respect to it being a) Nintendo 64 title (everything from this generation aged terribly), and b) the first real 3D platformer that really made 3D gaming what it is today. And it plays well enough, which is really an issue for a lot of older 3D games; the controls.

Still prefere to play many games on PS3, and have to say the difference from 1,5 - 3 meters (5-9 feet for the stoneage people), is negligable.
The inability of third parties to capitalise on the enormous userbase attracted to the Wii is one of the gravest mistakes the modern industry has made, and it is one which will come back to bite traditional gaming hard in future.

Yep. And has been for years.Japan is becoming less and less relevant in game development.
KILLZONE [PS2] is easily my favorite in the series and securely in my top ten lifetime.
The Gabe weight and Itagaki complexion digs always bum me out.
I disagree It's not going to make a difference to anyone but nintendo because I think there's a big reason why it's mainly been Nintendo Systems in the last couple generations that don't have third party support.
It's because the install base is there but they haven't done anything to foster third party support and it keeps biting them, they can say all they want about the Wii-U having it but I think it's more of a mistake on Nintendo's part than anyone elses.
Yep. And has been for years.
Oh yeah, almost forgot: TWW is the "true" OoT to me for the Zelda franchise, consisting of graphics, combat, characterization and exploration that can rightfully compete with even current gen Nintendo games. It has aged better and plays better, and embodies a large overworld with the right amount of exploration I think we should continue to see from the series.
I'm hoping the anti Japan backlash ends soon, since trends eventually change (who thought there would be a fighter revival this gen)...
Here's my opinion.
First,Zelda.
- Links Awakening, while a nice game itself, is the worst Zelda game.
- A Link to the Past is only slightly better.
- Oracle of Ages is the best 2D Zelda ever created, followed by the first Zelda.
- Twilight Princess is a great game (except the tear hunting) and the size of Hyrule Field was absolutely right.
- The 3D Zeldas are the superior games.
- Prince of Persia 2008 is better than Sands of Time.
- Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 are better than Super Mario World.
- Suikoden V, while having some great moments, is mostly rather dull and boring.
- FFXII is the best RPG ever created and FFX is just an alright RPG.
- I personally don't like most of Nobuo Uetmasu's Work. He made some great tracks, but the rest bores me.
- Kumi Tanioka, on the other hand, is one of the best composers.
- I didn't like any GTA game, but I think that Bully is an excellent game and Rockstar's best.
- Mario Kart Wii is the best Mario Kart (so far,I still have to play MKDS)
- F-Zero GX is the best racing game ever created.
- Banjo-Tooie is the best platformer ever created.
- Donkey Kong Country 3 is really bad.
- Starfox Adventures is a good game, even though the ending sucks.
- Banjo-Kazooie : Nuts and Bolts is a great game.
- Metroid Prime > Super Metroid. MP2 is the best.
I like this thread. It shows how extremely different people's opinions can be.
I think I'll have to agree with you! Despite NG2 clearly having noticeable issues, after beating NG2 then going back to NGB, I really had a hard time adjusting to the gameplay. I find NG2 is simply much more fun for me nowadays.NG2 >>>> NGB despite its flaws and lack of polish.
L4D and L4D2 are overhyped and boring.
MGS4 was the best experience ever playing it for the first time.
I fucking loved Heavy Rain
I also think 3D Mario games suck..
Mass Effect series are easily some of the most boring games I have ever played.
Ok, sorry I misread it than. You misunderstand. This is not simply talking about Nintendo's relationships with third parties. There was a vast segment of the market untapped that third parties never even remotely attempted to appeal to, and I feel the market has moved on now. The window of opportunity has closed, and any potential brand recognition going forward from the Wii has basically been squandered by everyone who isn't Nintendo.
The Uncharted series was made for people who don't want complex, mechanically deep games, and appeal to people impressed by flashy set pieces, tons of story, and simple, easy-to-learn hand holdy gameplay that guides them through the entire experience. Even then all three games are ripe with stupid ideas, repetition, and copy/paste gameplay that rarely reinvents itself and usually milks a single boring gimmick for far too long (looking at you, Uncharted 2 train), while doing a good job of making the player ignore these facts with WOW EXPLOSION MAN THE GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME. No game in the series is Top 10 of the generation material, and the series as a whole pales in comparison to the more creative, interesting and involved games that have come along.
/bought and enjoyed Uncharted 3 at launch regardless
To me, it's because While the 3D zeldas games are not bad, I just don't enjoy them as much as I do playing a Link to the Past or Links Awakening.I don't understand how some people consider 2D zelda games that much better then the 3D ones.
Why do you dislike Donkey Kong Country 3?
