Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

I actually knew you were joking at the first one, because there is literally no way anyone could type that sentence and believe it.

I don't know, there are some pretty sick people out there.

Joking or not, I agree with your statement about beat-em-ups. If you think those are fun and you're not a child then you are braindead. (I hope you're talking about Double Dragon/Final Fight type games when you say beat-em-up.)

Oh...have you played the SNES version of Turtles in Time?

Harvest Moon 64 did not age well and Magical Melody is actually the best game in the series (sorry, Friends of Mineral Town). Even better than the Rune Factory games were are great.

Skyrim is a pretty average game, more so if you have played Oblivion. What will save it is the same thing that saved Oblivion, which is mods.

I always try to tell Japanophiles this but it never gets through. The best western games are not the blockbuster stuff, but games like Witcher 2, Anno, Metro 2033, Cryostasis. Mostly all developed in Eastern Europe or Russia. It's foolish to make a comparison between Japanese games that are usually not high budget and then go ahead and compare them with stuff like CoD and then claim Western Games suck. This is like comparing the low hanging fruit of one country to the best of another.

The post right below me seems to display this attitude.

I'm a weeaboo and I somewhat agree with you with the best western games. Although I think a lot of eastern european games are a bit too over-ambitious for their own good, and that the non-cellphone indie market is the most interesting aspect of western gaming.

Megaman 9 is better than 2

DMC1 is better than DMC3 (this opinion may change once I play the HD collection)

I have more fun playing MvC1 than MvC2

If you can't enjoy playing Turtles in Time co-op with a friend I weep for you.

Oh...have you played the SNES version of Turtles in Time?
Whelp, looks I was beaten.

welcome to the ignore list =)

but i do hate your opinion

I LOVE THIS THREEAAADD!

Alright guys saying Uncharted is shit is not controversial anymore. Holy crap. Haha.

I think only maybe 3 of us actually love the series now. I still think that series is at another level that no other game has come close to.

I don't think it is shit at all, just very overrated. They are fantastic games that I enjoy, but like I said earlier, it is the Uncharted fanboys that say things like no developer comes close to ND or that Uncharted "is at another level that no other game has come close to" that make me like it less. ;)

The Uncharted games are easily among the best of this generation, but in no way do they stand way above all the other great games of this gen or from past gens.

The western indie game market is somewhat overrated and overflowing with a lot of mediocre 2D platformers now which has become the hot genre. Heavily stylized (and sometimes appealing) graphics with little innovation with gameplay.

Oracle games are best Zelda games

Maybe, but I can't get over the terrible writing in the games. It's like 4th grade 'design your own Zelda' story level. Now the series doesn't have the best story telling overall, but the Oracle games are brain melting.

I don't even remember the story! I played it most recently like 18 months ago.

I don't like Nintendo's output after the n64 (software wise)
Crysis is beautiful to look at, but has very boring gameplay
not really a gaming opinion, but Brandon Sanderson's wheel of time books are better than the previous 11 written by RJ

Valve is a overrated and too many people are riding on their dicks due to the spawn of Portal memes.

The PS Vita isn't doomed.

Gaming on the iPad is fun.

Have you ever tried to beat one (a good one, not "win with elbows only" Double Dragon) without continuing? If so, did you ever succeed? If not, did you figure out exactly why? Or did you just assume it was impossible?

Sorry. I just don't think you know a damn thing about 2D action games.

Burnout Paradise is terrible.
Dead Rising is terrible.
Half Life 2 is average.
Halo Reach is the worst Halo game and is almost terrible.
Bastion outside of the visuals is very average.
Those are my hot gaming opinions.

Oh now that someone reminds me about indie games.

Limbo sucks ass. I was fooled into playing this game and in the end I just couldn't understand why it gets so much praise when the only thing really special about the game is the atmosphere/visuals.

MGS2 >>>>> MGS3

Agreed!

:P

I have no problem with the hate here. Just saying I don't know if its controversial anymore after 95% of the posts say it. Haha.

Bioware are going in a good direction. Dragon Age 2 had flaws, but was brilliant. Mass Effect 2 was the best game released in the last ten years.

JRPGs are terrible.

999 has a dodgy story and some dreadful writing.

Deadly Premonition is a fucking dreadful game.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is the best game in the series.

Mass Effect 2 puts the first game to shame in almost every respect. Yes some questionable decisions were made regarding dropping the inventory completely, but the storytelling, presentation and character are leagues better in the sequel.

The immediate dismissal of indie games by some people just for being "indie" makes me upset.

:(

If only this was controversial. (Well, I'm not sure I'm making sense here lol. I wish you wrote your sentence differently.)

EDIT: Beat 'em ups/Belt-scrolling games are a lot of fun really. Don't know how you could say they are "for kids", like most arcade games of that era. (My personal favorite is The Punisher.)

This is true. I don't have a problem with indie games, but the 2D platformer market is as saturated as the FPS one.

Pretty much. If I didn't get enjoyment out of them I wouldn't buy them at all. Yet here I am. I just find it funny when people slobber over them and say they wish more games were like Uncharted, and that they raise the bar for what gaming should be. Great for them, taste and all, but not for me. A future of Uncharted-like games would cause me to quickly become disinterested in the medium. What I love most about gaming, and what attracted me to the medium in the first place, is not where Uncharted excels.

On the other end of the spectrum, I know people who were attracted to gaming (partially) because of Uncharted and what it does. There's something for everybody.

Controversy is my middle name
mwahaha.gif

Kefka is not a deep or a compelling character, we never know we he is doing what he is doing.

System Shock 1 & 2 have one of the best writing in the entire medium, it's deep and disturbing.

Final Fantasy XIII is not a bad game, just an incredibly boring one. (which to some can qualify as bad)

The most of the SNES JRPGs are outdated and average at best.

Games for windows Live is the best online gaming service.

Ninja Gaiden is better than God of War and Devil May Cry.

Sonic & SEGA all stars racing > any Mario Kart.

Halo is the best multiplayer game after TF2.

The Kirby franchise is better than Zelda, I had more fun with the Kirby games more than the Zelda games.

Maybe, but I can't get over the terrible writing in the games. It's like 4th grade 'design your own Zelda' story level. Now the series doesn't have the best story telling overall, but the Oracle games are brain melting.
The german translation of Links Awakening is, aside from a few good spots, incredibly awful, very childish and filled with textboxes which only contain dots, but we should just except that from Claude D. Moyse.
Oracle of Ages was quite an improvement over this, it was also done by a different translator.

The Assassin's Creed series takes what could have been interesting historical drama exploring segments of history that games usually stereotype with broad strokes, and completely ruins it with bad science fiction and Da Vinci Code garbage that never should have been in the series to begin with.
EmCee your blowing my mind.

Agreed. First time I was pissed at paying 12 bucks for an XBL, because I'm usually smarter than that. It took me time to learn to hate it, but eventually I did.

Vanishing Point was much better and more fun than the Grand Tourismo, and I tried really hard to get into it.

harvest moon 64 was the last major breath of gaming innovation

Right system, wrong game. The correct choice would be Pokemon Snap, which by the way, just happens to be the greatest game ever made.

If only this was controversial. (Well, I'm not sure I'm making sense here lol. I wish you wrote your sentence differently.)

Yeah, let me try again, (I'm not very good at being confrontational).

People who immediately dismiss indie games due to the fact they are "indie"(A meaningless term) are ignoring some of the most innovative games and fun experiences in years. Their ignorance is a detriment to the industry.

I endorse this post, though I don't think I'm a weeaboo... But I love me some of the indie games out there.

Online pass is really no big deal and people should stop being so butthurt about it.

jailbreaking and modding systems should not be defended, its a gateway to piracy, piracy hurts the industry, you dont need to run emulators on your damn Ps3.
