PS Vita US Launch Details (Launch Games, Accessory Pricing)

they'll try too hard and leave open holes lol.
This is what I'm suspecting/fearing ultimately happens. I can't really blame them for being zealous, but it can bite you in the ass about as hard as a failed smaller effort would've, maybe moreso in ways.

I finally found out recently that I am gonna be able to afford to get a vita at launch (not first edition, but 2/22 at least) I plan to start out with a 8gb, and Hot Shots Golf for sure (love the HSG series). So stoke just for HSG alone. :)

I'm kinda frustrated though, because I'd like to just place my preorder at where I work, which is at a gamestop, but HSG is still listed as $39.99 on the website. The 8gb memory card is listed as $34.99 also. These prices are both wrong, and both should be listed as $29.99 like amazon has. What's the deal? I would just order off amazon if I was a normal person, but if the price ever gets corrected at gamestop, I'd get them for $29.99 and my employee discount.

I'm undecided if I'm going to get another launch game or not. There are definitely ones I'd like to get, such as Rayman Origins, and UMvC3 because I never did pick them up on home consoles, and feel like these both would make good "on the go" type games for me. I've also considered Uncharted Golden Abyss, but I don't know. While it may look great, I just don't know if I want to spend that much money on a game that I'd pretty much play through once, and that'd be it. I like games with a lot more replay value, especially for a handheld.

What would you guys suggest as a must have for a launch title for the Vita other than HSG? Also, do we have any idea if PS1 game support will be included when the system launches in NA? I was under the impression for a while that they would just play on the Vita right out of the gate, but discovered that they do not....I own a lot of PS1 games on PSN.

Preorder at Amazon and lock in your price just in case. You can always cancel two days before release shipping.

Mexico is getting the 'First' Edition Wifi bundle with Mod Nation Rancer but it's US$435 and it'll be out until the 22nd -- I'm better off buying the American First Edition + 1 Game I Actually want + 16GB Memory Card

Especially considering they are rushing out Mod Nation Racer without online multi. :/

Ah dear, the Yamada Denki on the way home didn't have WipEout in stock, despite a display case clearly stating today is the magical day. Ah well. No harm done, but the semen shall stay mustered at this point. Maybe tomorrow.

Keen as mustard, though.

apparantly a Flickr app is out now. Can someone see if it works under a non-Japanese account (not likely but worth a try)

Considering all the stuff you'll store inside (demo, videos, homebrew,...) , would you suggest me to buy a 16 or 32GB card? I wouldn't like to waste money but on the other hand I don't want to be limited in space! :)

Your suggestion?

Well if you plan on buying a few PSN games then i'd suggest a 32GB to be honest. Won't take long to fill it up, especially if you decide to download a few full games too.

Yeah, trying to prevent piracy is a bad thing!

Sarcasm fail. Spectacularly.

I could list examples all day, really. Just because stopping piracy is the intention, doesn't mean it gets a free pass for shitting on consumers. And, anyway, proprietary memory cards will ultimately do very little to prevent piracy when the device has a USB port already.

That being said, proprietary memory cards do enable Sony's new single submission policy for simultaneous physical and digital releases, so I'm not entirely against them myself.

Oh wow that case is nice. For some reason I thought this was going to just be like an eyeglasses case with room for the system and nothing else. Nice to see you can tuck away some earbuds and games into the thing.

I still prefer the stand case, that thing is pretty slick but this is nice too.

Case looks amazing; First Edition-ers are lucky.
I'm one of them.

Also, boxed, physical copy of Little Deviants confirmed. Thank God it's not a digital download or on the memory card.

Is that case available in the UK? Like, at all? I know SCEE don't deem us worth of having bundles... like any...at all...let alone get it a week early. But is that case available anywhere? :)

So uh AT&T raised their rates on 3G data plans for phones and tablets.

"The nation’s second-largest wireless operator will increase monthly fees Jan. 22, according to a statement today. The revised charges, only for new customers, start at $20 for 300- megabytes, $30 for 3-gigabytes and $50 for 5-gigabytes. The previous plans offered 200-megabytes for $15, 2-gigabytes for $25 and 4-gigabytes for $45 a month."

Any word on if this applies to the Vita? I mean they just announced the Vita prices last week at CES so I can't imagine it does, but its AT&T so I don't really know.

In Italy they're doing quite a bit of promotions for people preordering, no bundles but depending on where you preorder you either get a 4GB card, a case or a free game plus wheel (ridge racer plus wheel for vita, to be precise. Lol).

I do not know if it is already covered but.... the 3G Vita works even without a simcard, right? I know that the 3G US units will be simcard-locked, but it is the only model I will be able to buy, so I will left the 3G function without use, but all the rest will be fine, right?

And why the Japanese launch thread was closed?

Bump! No one?

Thanks for posting the 1st Edition pics. I will be changing my pre order over to that. The case is awesome. I will have no use for that 4gb card as I'm getting the 32gb, but the case put me over.

That, and while I didn't really want the 3g, I couldn't help but feel I was getting a "gimped" system going wifi only

Getting it a week early doesn't hurt either.

Gonna go throw the extra $100 down today.

How much is the case worth standalone?

I just can't see myself forking over an extra $100 to get this thing one week early, plus a case. The 4gb is of no use (getting 32GB), the game is nice, but didn't plan on getting it, don't need 3G.

I wonder if there will be enough space for me to hold a few games in that top space. Looks so good.

Are they selling it separate from the First Edition Bundle too?

dat case

Also looksl ike Little Deviants will not be a voucher for the digital version, but will actually be a physical copy.

I foresee myself trading it in within a week.

Is it true you need a persistent net connection to use the media manager? and that it's Windows-only? Saw someone mention that earlier. WTF, Sony. Put in some effort.
Internet connection is needed when you want to transfer game related stuff. For videos and pictures etc., an internet connection isnt required. The PC software is already cracked, so that you can use it for game related stuff without using internet though.

Yes, it is for Windows only at the time. OSX support is said to be coming "soon".

I don't know if the case is available on its own. Could be.

Again, the bundle itself isn't necessarily why I'm ordering the bundle. If that makes sense.

I was going back and forth on getting the 3g/wifi version just to keep my options open. So the bundle is really only costing me $50 more because I was going to change my wifi preorder to teh 3g/wifi anyway. I was going to get a leather case, but this 1st Edition case is nicer than I thought it would be. And hey, having another game for launch doesn't hurt either.

I already have a 32gb fully paid, so I will just give the 4gb to a buddy of mine that has barely been able to get the vita itself and one game.

Yes, it works without a 3G card as you're not forced to have a permanent 3G subscription, but you're better off buying a eu version of vita, since it's not locked you can put a sim card from your country of origin in it, if your country uses GSM technology, that is.

I will be on US from Feb 14th to Feb 20th. I do not really need 3G, the wifi model will be fine for me, but they will be on sale just after I leave US.

It would be cheaper to me to buy the US 3G version than to import later the wifi model or trying to get the Euro 3G model, even if I will not be able to use the 3G function.

Wow lucky you. In the UK we get some earphones and a discount on a PSN game. No case or memory card or anything :(
