Shows like High School of the dead wouldn't work without the fanservice.

That and the bad story were why I didn't watch past the second, maybe third, episode of it. I know that there are plenty of shows out there that the selling point is the T & A (Ikki tousen, Queen's Blade, Eiken-firehawks favorite-, etc...). What I mean is, for example, shows like Hanasaku where I care to see what happens with the characters and then get an unnecessary hot spring fight.

What if the entire point is fanservice? Then you aren't exactly going in with a suspension of disbelief.

I'm ready for battling mechs and over the top action, but for some reason a gratuitous boob jiggle makes me roll my eyes.

WHAT? I MISSED SOMEONE WATCHING SCHOOL DAYS? FUCKING KATAWA SHOUJO AND HAVING A LIFE!

Oh well, may as well post what I watched recently...

Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing 12

Shit, it is hitting the fan. Definitely another build-up episode to a much more exciting and climactic episode. Seriously, this show is nothing but TENSION. I really wonder how this is going to turn out since there's clearly an underlying plot within the current conflict. I wonder if the Loli Fuhrer is going to get backstabbed. They'll have to develop her character a bit more to give that any real impact, though they definitely have time.

I am EXCITE for this week!

Bodacious Pirates 2

Huh... another setup? Interesting that this show is moving much slower than Nadesico which had FUCK YEAH GEKKI GENGAR in like the first episode. And now it's... cyber warfare? I'm not exactly complaining. Despite the noticeably slow development pace, the pacing itself is very solid and I don't really find myself bored. It reminds me of slice of life almost, and the MC chick has shed some of her "I'm a country bumpkin" impression I got in the first episode. Let's see where it goes...

The reason I dislike fanservice is not because of the animation or quality, it's because it subtracts from the experience and takes me completely out of the show/movie.

But what if the fanservice doesn't register on the human mind? *cough*

Gurren Lagann - 17

o_O

Hmmm looks like I'll have sit back on the hype train a bit and see how this develops.
timeskips usually suck, and Nia NOOOOOOOO!!

I dislike fanservice unless it's used for the purpose of a funny joke, I mean funny not that panty shot crap but used sparingly once in while not having most jokes based on it.

I can make a rare exception for matrix tits at least it was funny but that other crap like shower scenes, girls wondering around wearing only bath towels, wet t-shirts shots, panty shot, tits pressing on mc face that shit can fuck off.

School Days 12 END

OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NONNNNOOONONONONONONONONONONONONNO

i knew some terrible shit was gonna go down but....... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I DIDNT SEE IT HAPPENING LIKE THAT FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

makoto getting murder even though he deserved that shit, sekai getting it in the neck, the fucking gym bag, THE FUCKING OPENED WOMB WITH NOTHING IN IT and the NICE BOAT at the end with kotonoha and the severed head... all of this shit fuck fuck fuck fuck FUUUCKKKKKKK

i just don't know whether to laugh or cry at this.... ehhhehehehe *goes to weep in a corner*

Glorious. Simply glorious.

First off, you . Second, give yourself .

Will Shu finally man up? Has he even levelled up? What happened now that shit hit the fan? What became of the aftermath of events in episode 12?

Dat contrivance, dat direction of plot, dis show...

Still terrible. Highschool of the Dead was much better than that turd.

My point was more about how you can't take away fluff from something that's already all fluff expecting to find anything tangible beneath, not whether they had any semblance of quality because of the fluff.

Fanservice-focussed anime ends up being terrible regardless. It's inherent in the idea.

So, if all anime would be better without fanservice, then some anime would be better simply by not existing at all. :p
I would be okay with launching the harem genre into the sun. Actually, any waifu material anime too.

Guilty Crown, and it's best you not know that that character is voiced by Hnngazawa, otherwise you may want to watch this cliche'd crap.

Oh ok. I though it might be. I havent watched it past episode 1.
It has Hnnngzawa in it though so I might have to just find out what episodes her character is in and watch them.

I jjust woke up from sleep though and had another freaky dream.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai 2

Tinka, tinka ritta stah!~

God, this show is just BAD, like, not even the WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHOW DOING WITH 10yo FANSERVICE bad, like, genuinely just awful bad. And it was all brought to a head with the terrible Engrish rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle".

And then... SUDDEN MOOD SHIFT ACTIVATE! Honestly, that could have been done a thousand times better. They even have a shot of the MC's sister and her husband in a plane. They could have had a shakey cam shot with the masks dropping as the plane goes down. That would have been a PERFECT shift, instead, it just sort of goes. Oh, the plane crashed, and now funeral. The scene where he takes responsibility for the girls is probably the best there. Well, at the least, it's convinced me to watch the next episode. Take pity on my poor soul...

On a laptop???????????????????????

Also for those that are finally watching School Days, you do not even want to know what he does in the games.

Didn't he win most hated male lead in a vn? I can't remember the details but Makoto and the male lead from Rumbling Hearts were top 3.

I suppose I'll go out and get some food and finish the last 4 Sakura episodes to #40 now. then move onto to another show. Unfortunately I have to throw sleep into the mix somewhere, or else I'd just marathon absolutely everything.

I had another weird dream involving tornadoes again. They are very common.

Fluff = fanservice
Tangibility = substance = plot = character development = all that shit monocles like
Lol plot. True Monocles® don't care about commoner stuff like plot, nor do they use silly terms like "substance" (or embarrass themselves with extremely stupid stuff like saying the words "style over substance")

So you're saying Cajunator is a True Monocle? Glad we cleared things up.

I missed a bunch of this thread over the weekend, but at least I could catch someone finishing School Days.

Usagi Drop 03
I guess it says something about how charming this show is that I could overlook how much Daikichi is sacrificing in his personal life to take care of a 6 year old he met two weeks ago. The transition comes across as pretty natural.

Tatami Galaxy 04
I don't know if I have the patience to watch this at one episode a week, actually. It's neat seeing how the characters change in different ways, but I want it to get where it's going. I guess I need to stay disciplined. Journey, destination, blah blah blah.

Speaking of which...

Bakemonogatari 03
What did I just watch?

Things that happen in this episode:
- Ararararararagi goes to a park on Mother's Day. He's all alone.
- Senjougahara shows up to flirt or something.
- They decide to help a grade schooler with a big backpack find an address.
- QUIZ TIME

Despite how startlingly uneventful this show is, I still like Senjougahara and Araragi's conversations, and since that's the bulk of the show, I had a good enough time. Some parts of the direction make a little more sense, even if it's just in terms of keeping things kind of playful in this static dialogue. It's better than having people walk in circles around each other.

There's a real stark sense of isolation in just about every scene of the show so far, like the characters are the only ones who live there despite the appearance of a modern city. It's kind of weird, but perhaps there's some sort of truth in it, considering how emotionally isolated everyone seems to be from others.

I'm still on board, but with how little is going on, I can't rationalize why.

Because it's great, that's why.

LOL this show seems like its grade A Horseshit.

Tell me about it, the storyline looks to be headed in the direction of
Shu starting a new rebellion faction (Funeral Parlour 2.0)... with the school students as members all voided up
, oh god I hope that's wildly presumptious on my part.

Inu x Boku - 02

Eeeeeeeeeh, that was very middling, neither painfully bad or interestingly good to watch.
