Resident Evil 6: Bro-Splosion Announced, Nov 20 PS3/360, PC Later, PR/Trailer In OP

According to the Edge review of Revelations, there's a lot of action in there too, so I'm not sure where this Revelations > RE6 opinion is coming from, since both games aren't out yet.

The trailer was explosive. 3 scenarios seems like a good idea, but I'd hate to think that one would be short changed over the other. Modern controls would make the gunplay/cover a lot more fun than what RE5 was doing.

They showed a lot and I'm pretty sure those cutscenes were all real time again, like RE5. That is a very good thing, I hate CG trailers. (will have to watch again to try and confirm)

Ten years after RC incident? 2008...so before RE5 which happen in 2009?

You know what the means?

Fucking crazy. Wasn't expecting Leon. Seems like past RE's have been announced a couple years in advance, so crazy to have this coming out in 10 months. Granted, they also always get delayed, so we'll see.

Yeah nothing says survival horror like blowing shit up from a tank.

Survival Horror as a genre has had an identity crisis over the years, mostly due to Dead Space 2 coining the phrase "Action Horror". Out of all the horror games I've played that were released this gen, I would only call Corpse Party a survival horror game (and maybe Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but I haven't played it yet).

I enjoyed RE5 so Im more than happy with this more action oriented direction but at the same time RE4 was more action oriented than previous entries in the series so Im not sure why alot of RE4 lovers are upset. I couldn't really hear anything in the trailer because Im not home so Im not sure if there is forced co-op although there were parts of the trailer that did have other characters present but maybe it was in the vein of Ashley and not Sheva meaning its an occurrence and not permanent. But that trailer looked shit hot! Floor shooting, sliding to cover, shooting on the move, these are advances that should be present in this game.

Regarding horror Im not sure what you guys are expecting; we have seen that there will be a return of zombies and other bio weapons so I'm grateful for that. But put yourself in the actual characters shoes, they've seen things that were unimaginable, faced death on numerous occasions...what is left for them to be afraid of? Its like Issac Clarkes evolution from frightened man turned sole survivor in DS1 to "Im going to kill all these damn necromorphs" in DS2. It simply wouldn't make sense for him to be terrified in a mission that was his own undertaking and the same rings true here. Maybe if we played as a civilian then yes it'd be a return to RE's of old but for now jump scares is what you should be expecting from now on. But color me excited! 2012 is shaping up to be better than 2011. PS4 can wait

That looks nothing like Claire and the press release already confirmed the partners are new.
From what I gather, the AI partners have are currently unnamed, not new. The "new" character stars in a 3rd playable plot line along with Chris and Leon.

I could be remembering wrong buy that girl with Leon kind of looks like Sheva with long hair

Only really interested in this story, the rest of the game looks like fun but not what I want from a Resident Evil game, although I guess its an action game series now rather than a horror survival series.

Holy crap, zombie president??? Initially I though that Capcom would be bold and have a mansion-like game similar to RE1 but set in the White House. But no.

So basically, for a balance, the Leon sections will be more RE1-2-3-4ish, and Chris sections are more RE5?

edit: and we asked for zombies, and we got zombies. Woohoo.

Best part was more city/urban settings. It was hit or miss. Some of that was real time or all of it was but performance was choppy at times. And in some scenes it looked sub-hd but I was actually digging. it. And for it to be coming this year is pretty exciting. Too bad about not knowing exactly when the PC version will hit.

It'd be refreshing if Alex Wesker actually turned out to be a good guy who got sick of working for Spencer and turns out to have the cure for the T-Virus (or whatever) in his veins, and the new series villain ended up being Tricell. Faceless corporation villain: as it was, and as it should always have been, now it shall be again.
That would actually be pretty cool.

After watching the trailer again, I guess I can dig the game style. (And Revelations is looking to fill that survivor horror spot, anyway) Not sure if I'll buy Day 1 though, given Capcom's usual tendencies with updated releases.

waitafuckingsecond.... could that giant troll in the third scenario be Steve Burnside from Code Veronica!?

It REALLY looks like him after he mutated and disappeared.

Im fucking call it now. Steve Burnside is back. In Boss form.

amnesia isn't survival horror at all. wish it was, but it isn't. the add on for it qualifies in my eyes though. i spent zero time trying to 'survive' in Amnesia because the enemies basically just knock you out and drag you off to a nearby room, which occasionally is nearer to where you were trying to reach than where you were.

in Justine, the add on, they kill you, and when they do, the game quits to the fucking desktop like a boss.

I hope there's a QTE where Leon punches the train out of his way.
