I'm a medical student so Monster wins by default for me :)

Then you should be reading Team Medical Dragon too

Pluto has the benefit of:

- being short enough that it doesn't spin out of control

- thus, not getting dragged out

- less nonsensical twists

- works off a proven Tezuka (tm) premise

Pluto > Monster > 20th Century
The only thing Pluto got worse than Monster is the ending. My god, that ending was so nonsensical.

Pluto > Monster > 20th Century

Damn was hoping Monster didn't go they way of 20th Century Boys. 20th just fell apart after awhile.

Just started reading Monster as well and about 36 chapters into it. Really liking it so far, but wasn't a fan of where it seemed to be going.
The whole second Hitler thing was kind of cheesy.
But glad it's past that now.

Beelzebub

Furuichi is still my favorite part of Beelzebub.

I wonder how literal the translation of what Oga said to Hilda (the air combo) was.

Beelzebub -

I haven't read for the last year or so, but I read the last two chapters anyways because yes YES YES GOD-TIER HILDA FOREVER SUCK IT AOIBROS THE QUEEN IS HEREEEEEEEEEEE

Thermae Romae vol 2

Damn what a good volume. end of the first chapter had me
feel bad for Lucio as he finds out his wife has remarried and his pregnant too. She even believes he's gay and the Emperor's lover. Poor, poor Lucio.
The other chapters were great too, the one
where Lucio learns about water parks is awesome, with the panel of him at the top of the slide
or the one
where he learns about pictures to show customers the way to act in the thermal baths.
The last chapter tho takes the cake simply because of the end
with the old man planning to kill Lucio.
, though the rest of the chapter was good as well.

Beelzebub

Oga is a Mahvel bro? Awesome. Combo needed more dive kick though. :lol

That final scene with Furuichi, just damn. :lol :lol

THIS is Beelzebub at it's finest. Also Aoi still superior. Suck it Hilda bros.

Nisekoi 10

Okay, glasses girl is awesome.
Of course he's not going to be able to confirm if the key works though, because clearly that would be letting the plot move too fast. Goddamn comedy romance manga...

Argh, I want to read the Nisekoi chapter right now but I'm in class and this had to be the first fucking chapter to have them in swimsuits. Must resist temptations or else I will be forever known as the creepy weirdo who reads manga porn.

You are an Ayumibro right?

EDIT: fuck it, moe over pride

Onodera was so awesome this chapter.

Moe Faces (ch10+ex)

-Most random setup for swimsuits ever

FMV4e.png

Just a ton of moe-service via Onodera. It's funny how both the friend characters are very perceptive and the mains are brainless. This time it is Onodera's friend pushing forward the romance. But but but...the lock and key?!

Ex was pretty funny with violent animal hate on Raku with those long names and Chitoge trolling with her own naming.

On a side note, I got a job with a new company today. ;)

Beelzebub 140:

It's always good to see Beelzebub doing comedy like the "manga gods" intented.

Nisekoi 10:

It's nice to see this manga is still doing well even after the "grace" period has passed. I think things would get really good if the author would go ahead and let Onodera and Raku express their feelings, while Raku continues to pretend to be in a relationship with Kirisaki.

Nisekoi 10 - So what are our odds that the lock and key will find a way to go unresolved?

Wait, am I really asking that?

tuif3.png

BEELZEBUB the comedy is so much superior than BEELZEBUB the battle manga its not even funny.

God I love these last chapters.
Imo I think the balance between both is the best. For example the Toujou fights and everything before that were fucking badass and hilarious at the same time. We could've easily had another arc like that but instead we got a rushed piece of shit.

Nisekoi

NO DON'T DO IT MAN DON'T DO IT OMG

It'll be pretty good if they match and then he discovers the lock&key are products you can buy in some stores.

I mean shit it makes sense. Why would she have that as a kid. Then as long as she doesn't confirm he won't know for sure.

Onodera was pretty crazy this chapter in any case, oh man the face

Nisekoi should just stops with the lock and key cock teasing. The manga is so much better when it's not about that stupid plot point.

God I love these last chapters.

I don't even know how people in this thread get hyped up for the action bits unless there's comedy involved. Especially when you consider that most people in this thread read Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece every week, and those three mangas alone do action way better than Beelzebub IMO, let alone other action mangas we could list.

But when it comes to shounen comedy Beelzebub is in a different league, behind only Gintama.

Nononono

Haha, that reporter was looking at him like he killed her parents. Gotta love it.

I don't like it but I think Emperor's gonna look lame now. I really hope not.

Kohinata

So, uh, it's just basic bluffing then. Sure.

Medaka Box

It'll be nice if I could actually see what's black and what's red..

Pluto > Monster > 20th Century

This man speaks the truth. 20th Century Boys could have been the greatest thing of all time. Blew it.

Pluto is more concise, well paced.

Medaka Box

Kumagawa ruining it for himself just when everyone was feeling friendly. :lol

On another note, this series is getting an anime right? Have any details on that broken out yet?

Ok so I just finished the Thriller Bark arc. (I skipped over CP9 because I will summarize that at a later time)

The premise of this arc was good, but once I was a few chapters in, it will started to sag. It was basically like an episode of Scoobydoo. Having a chapter based around Usopp, Nami and Chopper was nice, but having several in a row annoyed me. Really, I thought i'd never like this arc... until Moria showed up along with the rest of the strawhats. The arc quickly went from being mediocre to top tier. The shadow concept is really fucking cool and unique, and I like how it gave the straw hats an excuse to face themselves. Especially Luffy... Oz w/ Luffy's Shadow was a total boss. This arc also excelled in the team coordination. Almost everyone get a chance to shine throughout several fights. Special shout outs go to Robin and Usopp for being really useful party members. Speaking of Usopp, his fight vs Perona was awesome! First time he's ever defeated a devil fruit user, and it didn't feel hollow or empty. Perona's powers were really something though, she had no problem taking down some of the strongest straw hat fighters !_!

Moria's fight with Oz vs the strawhats (minus Luffy) was incredible. The action was intense, the strats were great and the art was mind boggling. So much to absorb...! I fist pumped when Robin successfully landed a "clutch" on Moria. (but my mouth swung wide open when he escaped)

Brook was a character I wasn't too fond of in the past, but I've really come to appreciate his character. Yeah his jokes are corny, and he doesn't usually add much but his backstory was incredible. I was almost moved to tears when we finally saw his flashback, seeing his crew mates die one after another was depressing as hell. I know if I were him i'd go insane...

There wasn't a single easy day.
Me: (Mouth full of tears)

All in all, it was a great arc with a slow start.

Which by the way Anshin'in promised to end the manga by then. Doesn't look like she can do it! (and I called the hell out of it back then)

Won't happen in a re-read but whatever, back when Laboon was first brought up in Thriller Bark, easily my favorite moment there. If only I could look at my expression then. Crazy crazy stuff.

Did not see that coming.

Thriller Bark was one of the most fun arcs of One Piece so far. It doesn't hit the "epic" mark folks throw around for One Piece's other arcs (even if a lot of them really reach that mark non-ironically) outside of some of the best team fights/moments in mangadom (as far as I've read anyway) but it was a fun little romp and distraction on the way to Saobody. And yea, that arc was all about Ussop.

You just know there's going to be a reference to this when the manga happens to skirt over that deadline. I was also wondering which animation studio got the license.

Maybe it's because I'm watching Bakemonogatari now and wondering how crazy Medaka Box would be in comparison.

RRR 61

They've been building up to the reveal that Ricky is actually a natural southpaw for a while now so it's nice to finally have that confirmed.

Uwa Koi 2-4

The netorare angle, so delicious. I can sort of understand his struggle. I hope for Yukiteru's sake it doesn't come back to bite him in the ass (it will, I'm sure it will).

Oh hey I watched it last week, how bout that

Pretty sure it was Gainax. Dunno about the entire studio thing so no clue what to expect

I thought it's more like making Minoru think all he'll do is mess around -> drop his guard but that too

Yeah, but if you're going into a match, there's a mindset that comes with it. The way that guy's acting is the equivalent of going on Larry King shirtless with the express purpose of grinding King's eye into your nipple tassles.

Or smooching Heath Herring during a staredown.

Just reread Skypiea. It's by far the best arc of One Piece.

"The sound of the bell. Proof of the ancient city's once prosperous past, the light of Cyandia. It is also a declaration of truce, the song of the island. Though 400 years late, it is also the sound, of a promise kept. No matter how long the floating island's journey, the memories of those in the past are never forgotten. The sound of the bell is a message of hope, spread to the corners of the world. 'We will always be here.'"

I'm at the middle of Skypiea on my re-watch/read of OP. It isn't as slow as I remember it to be. My sister really likes OP so far. She pretty much has the same criticisms of it as I do so far and feels the same way since our interests are so similar.

When I'm done and caught up, I will do a write up on OP and maybe even a small write up on how someone else I know first hand felt about going through OP. One big difference is that we are not rushing through it like I did when I was watching it. I just wanted to catch up. This time I am taking it all in. And boy, it's a lot.
