The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

So the Vita disconnects off of PSN when it goes in to sleep mode? This kind of sucks for downloading anything.

If Vita goes to sleep mode by itself hile downloading it's ok, you just can't put it to standby by yourself using the power button.

Don't even think about pressing the PS button, it'll disconnect you

lol, i found out the hardware never to press PS button during online/adhoc when doing a 3 monster MH3rdP quest with the missus and i hit as we were half way through the last monster.

YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED :\

We each had to continue on solo - not fun.

All hail your new Liverpudlian overlords!

jesus!!!!

this thing may be worth it for me with just wipeout and hsg.

Don't even think about pressing the PS button, it'll disconnect you. Make sure to tap the screen at least once every minute while waiting for the room to populate, or the screen will go to sleep and... you guessed it: disconnected.

I hope these power policies are controlled by the system and not the individual games. They could fix it with a firmware update.

It always does that.. Atleast in the other 2 other online games I own. The Vita does put the network to sleep when it goes to sleep in order to save energy.

WipEout is the only online-enabled game I own at the moment, so I didn't know that. I thought that since downloads continue during sleep, that it was normal for it to keep connection to the network up for at least a few minutes.

I love portables to death, and I'd like to join the fun, but I am jobless at the moment and I don't see any JRPGs or anything but Wipe'ouT" and Lumines on the horizon that interest me.

I wonder how well the 3G version will sell, too.

Keep the impressions coming though. I'm eager to read what you all have to say. :)

it doesn't add any aa. it just adds dof, motion blur, etc.
Yup dof gives some illusion of extra aa but if you set the slider down IQ is pretty much exact to what you see in game.
The native games really have nice IQ in general, even more so on the actual screen.

Disgaea 3 is already available for pre-order at Amazon.com. Atlus USA localize all Megami Tensei games these days, and Xseed will most likely localize the Ys game since the PSP games sold well enough.
I hope we can expect these games not too far off after launch. Ys Celceta and Persona 4 are some of my most anticipated titles for the system.

Persona 4 should be easy since most of it is already translated. It's scheduled for Q2 2012 in Japan, so we'll probably get it a few months after that. The Ys games aren't that text heavy so I'm hoping that will be done fairly quick too.

I'm thinking of picking up a Vita but I'm curious if it's possible to change your PSN username? I was really drunk with some friends when I made mine and it's super embarrassing looking back at it. I would make a new account but I have like $300 worth of PSN stuff accumulated over the past two years. I thought that I might as well change my username if I end up buying another Sony device. Is it possible?

no, and its bloody stupid. I want to change my region, as my preferred account is US which works ok with PS3 as I can still buy things from UK PSN and play under my US account. But Vita messes that all up, so I want to use a UK account for online pass compatibility etc.

But Sony don't let you change names, or change the region of an account. Apparantly in this modern age, nobody moves countries for work or anything :/

I'd even pay them money to let me do it..

photo mode totally adds anti-aliasing

there's a lot more aliasing in the wipeout demo I've played

Depends on what you do with Photo Mode. Blur Track and Blur Ship don't really add any anti-aliasing at all (may seem like it due to the blur, though), but DoF does, which is why the DoF shots are the best looking of the bunch.
