What's interesting about this primary is that if/when Santorum drops out, the evangelicals would have to decide between an adulterous catholic and a Mormon.

Not that I needed to be re-informed of this, but man Steve Jobs is was a dick:

yeah China is awesome with all their horrible labor practices. At least be up front about why you're doing these things, business men of America. Don't act like it should be some noble standard for which America should aim to match.

The biography goes in a bit more detail about why Jobs thinks America is lagging behind. As I recall he was quite interested in getting Obama to make some changes for the better and stressed on vocational training. According to him, either workers are over-qualified, or under qualified, leaving few factory workers with an understanding of the machinery they're working with. And that's where China excels.

Now the question is whether he can muster enough money/support to saturate Florida's airwaves with enough anti-Romney ads to pull off a repeat performance.

I can't take CNN seriously any more, on the one hand they're the only cable news station not camped out on an extreme political flank but on the other hand all of their on-air talent are intellectual lightweights (Blizter is particular is a joke) and they are WAY over the top with stupid gimmicks. Plus, you know, Piers Morgan.

Interesting... Gingrich even winning that electibility metric, at least according to that CNN exit poll. We'll see if that carries over to FL.

Ha, David Gergen just called Newt an Alpha-Male

I for one would prefer to see a Gingrich and Obama debate. The former is such an easy target but the incumbent steers towards the high road. But Newt is so obnoxious that I'd love to see Obama take a few real good swings at him.

If Newt wins in Florida, or even gets a close second: Game on.

I quite like James Carville. He's on point with a number of details regarding the race.

Yeah, Steve Jobs was a dick. I'm also sick of this obsession Republicans have of claiming that "if we just cut useless regulations and lower taxes, manufacturing jobs will return!" There is no way we can compete with Chinese factories that have their employees live in dormitories on the factory property and install nets to reduce the amount of suicides.

There's a great interview on Larry King with Jon Stewart in which he basically takes them to task for exactly this.

Yeah that was good. I really do hate it when news hosts bring up twitter questions. Do your damn job as a reporter and think of good questions yourself.

Even though what newt actually says is insane, he actually understands what these debates are really about. Soundbites.

All Newt will have to do is make some alpha male-esque stab at Obama's record, reprimanding the media or liberals and "socialism", and that will be the soundbite used by all media outlets the next day - effectively a win for Newt.

Obama would have to be really, really careful not to be out-soundbited.

How come Santorum didn't do better? He had the momentum coming out of Iowa and this is the first southern primary, where'd you'd expect a big social conservative to play better. Isn't he the Huckabee of this cycle?

it's crazy to think CNN's opening question gave Newt such a positive effect. That, along with Palin's endorsement, and Romney evading sharing his tax records fucked things up majorly...... for the better lol

This defensive posturing--anybody but Obama; anybody but Bush--is not going to win elections.. Didn't work with Kerry and it's not gonna work if the GOP goes for this strategy.

Wow that's some hardcore rationalization. You sure china doesn't excel in preteens working in foxconn factories for a few cents an hour?

I would love to see that debate too. I don't care for many of Newt's policies but the guy is clearly as smart as a whip with a tremendous command of the facts and, as you say, great soundbite instincts. Electability aside I think he could beat Obama in a debate; he's certainly the only GOP candidate left standing who could give him a run for his money.

I think the GOP electorate basically hates them all. But now they want to pick the biggest dick just so he can whine at Obama. What a train-wreck.

Misleading facts at best.

I continue to be amazed at how much the 2012 elections are mirroring 2004's thus far.

The biggest thing to watch for now is whether or not Santorum drops out. If Santorum is gone I don't see how Romney wins long term. The consolidated Not-Romney vote is too large.

I truly don't understand why Wolf Blitzer has a job. He's this perfect storm of unattractive, dumb as bricks, incompetent, and speaks in the most boring monotone on earth.

The best attack of the debate on Thursday actually came from Santorum, handily deconstructing the various controversies which Newt was involved with and why this is going to be massive baggage going into the general. He even made a pointed attack about Newt being big on ideas ("an idea a minute") and very poor on execution of said ideas.

This was easily the best attack of the night... but it was impossible to soundbite. Newt goes for the big soundbite up front, and that is all anyone talked about for the next 36 hours. Nobody remembers a single thing about the rest of the debate.

If Obama tries to beat Newt on substance, he'll get many Santorum-esque losses in the debates. Where substantively he has the better points overall, but he simply couldn't compete with Newt's large mouthed condemnations acting as a de facto representation for the anger that many Americans feel right now

Money and organization. Newt still sucks here. If he can't get things together, he will still lose.

Speaking of which, this is one of the primary reasons why Newt winning would be amazing. He has virtually no ground game to speak of. Obama would have a catastrophic strength over Newt.

Even with a huge Gingrich win here, I can't see him winning the nomination. No way does the GOP establishment let that happen.

They have Anderson Cooper. He's pretty good usually. But yeah, they generally suck.
