The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Yea, why would you have voice chat if it was offline only :lol?
I forgot that voice chat (party chat) is handled at OS level, so every game will have support for it regardless (unless that some games blocks it, like Modern Warfare 2 does on Xbox 360). But yeah, in that co-op video earlier, the guy mentions use of voice chat, so i'm pretty sure he is referring to online play indeed.

I was wondering about online play (at least co-op) in Unit 13 myself, but the game does support voice chat, so i'm pretty sure that it has online play. It seem kinda redundant to have support for voice chat if it only have local play (unless you're sitting in different rooms though).
When I say online multiplayer, I mean versus -- playing against other players.

I had a dream that Sega ported Sonic Generations to the Vita and it ran at 20 FPS.

Was this a nightmare because of the horrible port, or a good one because I thought the system was sexy and I actually played it?

There were a lot of rumors about a Sonic Generations Vita port, going all the way back to that SEGA USA document leak which meant PS2 Classics, among other things.

Not a huge deal but something I discovered/realized earlier today was that you can use the remote play app without having to close the game you are currently playing. This means:

-You can be playing a PS1 (or any remote play) game at the same time as a Vita game
-You can use the internet browser on your PS3 through remote play on your Vita while playing a Vita game (the Vita browser makes you close the game)

Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Yeah, when they add multitasking support for Vita browser, I expect a more interesting community experience since many activities can happen at the same time. But they need to refine the connected experience when people play SP games.

Niiiice... too bad my ps3 is still dead =/

I'm totally confused what Remote Play even is or does, I tried to set it up but had some troubles getting it to work, I think errors on PS3 end.

What is it, streaming video to your Vita? Why doesn't it work with every game? What do you have to do to use it? I already entered some sort of code on the vita

Does anybody know if Wipeout 2048 is also being released for PS3? I seem to remember Wipeout on Vita has shared online with a PS3 game but haven't seen any mention of a PS3 version of 2048. Then when looking around for info this morning I found this. Maybe Sony are keeping quiet about it to encourage Vita sales.

Sorry if this has been discussed a lot already.

It's supposed to be cross play between 2048 and HD/Fury. Apparently all we need is a WipEout HD patch for it to be enabled.

"Remote desktop" service for PS3.

You need compatible games/apps to use RemotePlay.

Question for import people. Are the x and o button still switched at OS (or even hardware) level when the system language is set to English?

WipEout 2048 is a Vita-only game. It just shares some tracks with HD/Fury that can be played together, all new tracks are 2048 exclusive and thus Vita-exclusive.

There is absolutely no button use in the OS. It doesn't work with buttons at all so it doesn't matter.

iirc the x/o buttons are swapped on import consoles, but the vita OS doesn't use any buttons (100% touch interface) so it's a non issue there. In game however you will have trouble.

It's not that big of a deal really.

As far as I know games handle the x/o issue by their region not the os. So that wouldn't be any hassle.

On PS3 that was not the case, the game checked the console region (not language setting) and set the confirm buttons, my friend with a japanese ps3 has the x/o buttons swapped when playing Metal Slug downloaded from the Australian PSN store with english language set.

stupid question but will ps1 saves of a US game work on the canadian version of the same game?

my freind just wants to copy my save over to his account but not sure if the psp will read it?

Stupid Question

My PS3 account is an australian one (because i got it before UAE had a region)

Im picking up a japanese VITA tonight and was wondering, when i log in with my PSN account - if i want to buy a game of the australian market place - can i use my credit card from UAE or does it have to be an Australian Credit Card? (which is the problem i have on the xbox now)

Also, if i buy those Network cards with points on them - are they region free? Do i need Australian cards to work with the australian network?

this shit is so confusing.

Australian PSN Store isn't up yet so you won't be able to browse or buy things on there.

As for the network cards, and credit cards, the former are region-locked. You'll need an Aussie PSN card, as for your credit card, I believe the same may apply.

Thats cool i understand only the japanese store is available right now so theres no point going there.

So basically - i cant buy any games online for the Vita unless i purchase aussie PSN cards? I had one account for the UAE region where i bought one game but all my trophies or whatever are on the Aussie account. This stuff REALLY is stupid- dont they expect people to move regions?

What are my options here? use my UAE region account as my main vita one?

Just buy PSN credit via an Australian website.

The framerate is terrible, and it looks pretty clunky.

Hopefully KZ will be better.

I usually don't pay attention to framerate for some reason(bad eyesight probably). But anyway, did the the resolution look qHD or sub-qHD? I'm dreading a lot of graphics heavy Vita games will go the Uncharted:GA route of sub-native res.

Well, Burning Skies isn't applicable then.

I've still not seen a PSV in person. I don't know how bad sub-qHD looks on the screen, so it's not something I'm concerned about as of yet, but it's disappointing to see it happening regardless.

Ultimately performance is still king, if it's a choice of upscaling artifacts and poor performance, it's a clear choice I think. If CoD is 60fps for example, I think we all have to expect it'll be really low res.

Resistance: Burning Skies cam footage

Looks pretty good IMO, at least for a handheld game. Not sure if I like the touchscreen shield creation though, maybe they should've used the back touchpad.

Corpses still disappear
Framerate is not good.
It doesn't look like we have the ability to sprint.
The touch screen activation of the Augor shield is a terrible idea.
Does it even have Multiplayer?

If things don't improve, I'd like Sony to walk the hell away from any relationship with Nihilistic after this launches. PlayStation Move Heroes had potential. . .but they botched that one and now they are taking a series with a very solid foundation, fucking around with it and making some extremely poor decisions.

Time to start weeding out the trash Sony. Media Molecule did a good job, Quantic Dream did a good job, Ready At Dawn did a good job. Those are the sort of good relationships to keep going and its good you have. Cut the crap.

I think polyphony should release a GT game rather soonish. Only include the premium cars and just port it as best as possible to vita. Include the DLC etc. I'd buy it.

Touch menus.

Seems like a no brainer to me.. I can't imagine Sony not 'forcing their hand' to create or announce at least something.

Were those PS2 compilations for PS3 not all going to be Vita compatible? Or is it just the Metal Gear Solid one? Imagine playing Shadow of the Colossus on the Vita..

Yeowch, Burning Skies looks depressing.

To be fair to Resistance, that looks to be the same demo/build we saw last year.

Only MGS, and ZOE were announced for Vita.

Oh, well Konami is doing something right then. Thanks Kojima!

I've been playing the old Shadow Warrior and Blood in Dosbox the past few weeks, and it's really jarring to see that Burning Skies footage. Unimaginative design, no color, no personality, forgettable enemies, no feedback, low framerate,...

This might be very damaging to the perception of the Vita, seeing as the series does carry a certain clout around Europe and the US.

Unit 13 just got upgraded into my want list. I'm gonna be so broke next few months. I just look at games release date and there's 9 console games that I'm interested for the next 3 months, and then there's Vita and it's games on top of that. I'm gonna have to start dropping some titles from my shopping list soon.

It's the same footage I posted a while ago. The framerate doesn't look that bad to me-- and it's in dev-- but it looks obviously subqhd to me.

The textures look nice :)
