Sadly the artist's current series (Hapi Mari) does nothing for me. The male lead is beyond boring.
Pretty much. Celery stick personality. Girl is entertaining though.
Dengeki Daisy is crap. I read 25 chapters of it, and it was fucking dumb. The premise was fine, but the prolonging of her not knowing that the dude is protecting her got tiresome fast.
It's the main plot reveal of the entire manga. And there were very compelling reasons to keep it a secret. I don't see how it is much worse then prolonging somebody's bankai for 300 chapters.

Biomega is the pseudo-sequel to Blame.

The other two aren't from the same mangaka, but they've got similar art, they're pretty good and they by far don't get the attention here that they deserve.

Thanks. I started with Jiraishin yesterday and I thought it was pretty good. I'm already at chapter 6 and enjoyed it, but it's not a series I can marathon through. I'd definitely recommend it, though. With ~100 pages per chapter and another 64 chapters to go, I hope Ida will get some character development. He also seems to be a bit too sharp, imo. Sure, he's the MC and star detective at the department, but it's a bit annoying that he always seems to know what happened, who the murderer is and how to get him. I'd like a bit more investigation or at least someone who's up to his game.

Ippo

That was pretty fun, haha. I like.

Buyuden

Daaaaaamn son. That will definitely do it.

Still can't accept Moka quitting. What the hell man. So out there.

Maybe it's not actually true. Maybe the guy was just presenting the worst case scenario to see if he actually had the balls to take the sport seriously, instead of trying to impress his girl.

Yeah definitely possible that it won't happen. I think the dude really believes it's likely though, which is what's getting me.

I mean if you factor in Major into this, it's possible Moka's out for real (I wouldn't even consider it an option if it wasn't for that). That's really scary.

That doesn't answer the question, but thanks. I'm asking because I'm actually looking for an anime to watch and found Mardock Scramble. Now I obviously don't want to watch a shitty adaptation of a good manga, so that's why I'm asking.

There is nothing wrong with the anime as an adaptation but I honestly wouldn't watch it now since we only have the first movie and waiting for the second one and the third one to get released will take up to 1-2 years.

Bakuman

We are so close to getting an anime and now Nizuma wants to ruin it. God damn it, just listen to yourselves. You are delaying the manga and letting suffer in quality. It's like they don't even read what they are writing.

So the movies aren't just feature movies like the ones for one piece or bleach?

So is Bakuman at end-game yet?

See here is the thing, let's assume that the discussion happened in this week's chapter of Bakuman is real stuff that happened in the real world. So that means the Bakuman manga won't end before the anime correct? Well Bakuman is getting a 3rd season in Fall 2012, so theoretically the manga can't end until sometime in 2013. So we are pretty far from the end game.

If you are talking about them releasing in theaters, then they do. That's why we have to wait a long time until they are out on DVD/BD. If you are talking about whether they are filler movies like Bleach/One Piece then no, from what I know they are based on the novel.

Well the manga still has a long way to go also so either way it's going to take a while.
Still the anime is really nice.

ok maybe i missed it but where are my new wolf guy and liar game chapters/? :(

Liar Game 175 dropped yesterday.

Bakuman 163:

Niizuma proving his superiority like always. Saiko and Shujin probably won't get an anime this time either unless Hattori tells the Jump staff Saiko's childish dream (I don't know why I thought Hattori already knew about the dream).

It's crazy... main character is seriously op too.

The manga had me at crazy Jeanne
and her Leader who might be Jesus Christ himself

I hope it gets more chapters soon but as cosmic say Hirano tends to be very lazy (though he did power himself to finish Hellsing when he said he would)

Then what is the anime based on? I'm sorry, my mind is full of fuck right now.

We have the graphical novel as original source, then the anime, movies and manga as different adaptations?

The novel is the original source .
The anime movies are base on the novel and the screenplay for the movies are done by Ubukata who is the author of the novel .

Truth is a fair amount of the big anime that came out in the last few years are base on light novels.

I think the hilarious part is that Mashiro has been living this farce with Miho for seven fucken years

This whole arc in Bakuman is silly for a few reasons.

I mean why would they only make one of the two series an anime when they can just do both? No way anything with those type of ratings would get passed over for long. Just about any big Jump manga gets an anime in real sooner or later.

And worrying about the manga ending before the anime? Plenty of stuff has come out after the manga was finished in the past so why would that be a big deal?

Dont really read Bakuman but i think they wont get it once again trollface.jpg

or if the author is really trollish, They get it but that other girl gets the gig for voice acting instead (so the MC basically still failed).

If that happens then it would be Azuki's failure really

Actually he could definitely spin something out of this. I regret thinking about it.

@ 1st Bold: True but it could also be external factors like "politics" intervening (eg the other girl actually did "favors" for the director, some other horseshit, etc).

@ 2nd Bold: it helps with the point i was subtlely making that the series could be extended some more (and continue to piss off the fans who would want it to end already) :p

Bakuman

please note that this is the first fucking time their good friend hattori (who helped start their careers and even fucking spoke at shujin's wedding) has heard about mashiro's entire reason for getting into the business

it's been like 7 years

and then when he finally tells them to stop all this dumb pussyfooting around and just go for it, suddenly COMPLICATIONS

get the fuck on with it

Seven Days

6vQv2.jpg

This is the story of a high school boy named Seryou who always dates one new girl each week and after the week ends he would break up with them. However, one week, instead of dating a girl, Seryou dates our protagonist, a dude named Yuzuru. Of course Yuzuru does this for shit and giggles, but he ends up falling in love with Seryou.

And they both live happily ever after

So short.

More or less, yeah. Also keep this in mind, the novel's author is very fond of the manga's adaptation, so if you don't want to read the novel, going with the manga isn't a bad choice.

It's not my fault I'm not popular 11

lol ants

I haven't been following the "not my fault" threads on /a/ lately but apparently around the release of volume 1, lots of people on /v/ and /a/ started ordering the manga and it sold out very quickly. And then even the author on twitter was acknowledging the popularity of the manga on some foreign board. Seems very bizarre.

I love this manga. I went through this when I was a social shut in. I remember panicking whenever trying to order food. I always screwed up and beat myself up over it.

Read about that, it's pretty bizarre, but cool as well.
Taken from the scanlators:

If you look at the bottom right corner of the manga, in this picture, you can see that it says “海外の2ちゃん的な掲示板で大人気!!”. Which translates to “On a foreign 2chan-like board, this manga has become extremely popular!!” And the ‘foreign 2chan-like board’ in question is indeed our home 4chan.

When I originally typeset chapter 2 on a whim, on /a/, all those months ago I never thought something like this would happen. And you know what? That’s pretty damn cool. Of course this definitely would not be possible without all you guys out there reading it, and subsequently buying it, regardless of if you’re from /a/ or not, be proud of yourselves.

So. Shonen Jump is going digital in English in a little while. Thoughts? Anybody think this is going to be worth it? I definitely think the manga industry needs to start offering its own equivalent to simulcasts.

I hope they provide such a good service at a good value that I'm happily paying them for digital delivery. It's just wait and see at this point.

EDIT: I just took a look at what the digital edition will have on their preorder page. The pricing is good (~55¢ / issue) but I'd be willing to pay more for a fuller selection. We'll see how responsive they are to feedback after they launch and how/if that changes the service. I'll buy it although I'll end up reading scans for early access. The two week delay is going to be a problem, because it's too long to kill the scan groups.

It's too slow to be effective since it's not same day and date but weeks later. They had something good going with Rin-ne where it WAS day and date until the Earthquake messed that up. Anything less simply won't fly.

Fuck that bullshit. It's like every bad fanfic of Naruto combined into one.

Why? From the beginning of the manga Naruto has always been the one that can change people. He understands what it is like to be alone, feared, and treated like shit. So the way he has treated the fox is no different. Just look at how Kis drew his face when he found out the fox had a name. It wasn't just him being surprised it was him realizing that he never really talked to the fox. He ignored it despite spending his whole life with the fox inside of him.

I don't really see how anyone thought that this wouldn't happen. Naruto controlling the fox wasn't going to make him any different than Madara. Him seeing the fox as a live being and asking for his help is just more of what we have always seen from Naruto.

I actually believe him doing it shows how great of a leader he can be. He is willing to look into himself and see his faults. He isn't afraid to ask for help and he knows in some situations he will need to rely on his friends.

This is correct.
If you choose to support it, more power to you. Go ahead.
But it's two weeks late, fans can get translations out within a day of release. Yes, the the translations are inferior (depending on who you ask) and the quality isn't as good, but convenience wins in the end.

And let's be honest, the selection is rather sparse and varies in quality. Sure there's One Piece, Toriko and Nura (I haven't read but I heard amazing things) but on the other end is Naruto (hasn't been good in years), Bakuman (I've heard it's on the decline) and Bleach (HAHAHAHA)

Granted, these seem to be the ones most accessible to American readers.

They just need to offer full page view on the reader itself and it would be better. I guess its good if one reads the six series it offers. It would be good if they can get some new series that starts in Jump this year.

What else would Shonen Jump offer?

I do not see many people that had a problem waiting a few days to a week for anime views on the official sites for streaming, so it may not be that detrimental to wait two weeks instead of 9 months to a year (even longer for Bleach) for the currently running chapter.

Anyway I guess if they get tons of support they will decrease the time to maybe the same week or even same day as Japan.

The worst part is the manuscripts need to be in like a week before print, so Viz Jump could pretty easily have a translation ready for the same day.

I totally agree with you on full-page view. Reading the web version was kind of frustrating. I'm sure it's fine on iPad though, if their volume reader is anything to go by.

That being said, I think the real advantage of SJ in Japan is that it's a gateway magazine. There is a rotation of titles, one shots, etc. SJA so far is just "the weekly magazine for six specific manga", when what Viz really needs is to also introduce their other titles, both as possible weekly additions and as a way to sell people on their volumes. I'd be a lot more interested in an SJA sub if I occasionally had a chance to read the first chapter of some other series that has a TPB coming out. (Especially if from there I could literally just click the title and buy the volume straight-away.)

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi 461 - Hooray, the Miu part of the arc may finally end! Sadly, wasn't as interesting as I thought it'd be. I'll blame the distracting invisible crotch shots for that.

Hajime no Ippo 962 - After "OH NOS FEINTS" I'd say this is a pretty good recovery of the situation. Fight is shaping up finally and I was wondering if Saeki would pull the same stunt as he did vs Ippo. Good stuff.

Mekakushi no Kuni - It was ... interesting, I guess? I realize it's kind of the whole gimmick of the plot and all but the first like ... four volumes didn't really need to keep reminding me about the whole blindfold metaphor. Also, that's a silly complaint but for a kind of sweet shoujo, I don't really have much to complain about. Except the whole
teasing of the other coupling
, but that's just me.
