Rinne no Lagrange 3

This show continues to be surprisingly well-executed. The direction does a good job characterizing Madoka, Rin, and their relationship, and the mecha action feels exciting and fresh. Madoka's outsider perspective is a great foil to the rest of the main cast.

I hope it'll keep up this level of quality
when the darker elements hinted at come to the forefront.

[Gintama 101 - 106]

I really enjoyed this particular 'serious arc', even if the animation and direction was kind of all over the place. The Shinsengumi are an interesting set of characters, so having something revolve purely around them (as opposed to revolving around individual named Shinsengumi members) is fairly interesting.

I will, however, complain about one thing. That
redemption right at the end didn't seem particularly well earned. I mean, lots of people have tough upbringings and bad things in their past, but to see that as some kind of legitimate reason to betray and murder one's comrades seems bizarre. Okay, he temporarily shielded them at the end, but that doesn't make him a hero and his past does little to make me sympathise with him.

Annoyingly, they also used the whole 'explain the whole characters background just before the end of the show technique' which annoys me because I could have used that information earlier. If I had known these things about the character while he was making his moves I might have felt differently about him. But in retrospect, with it revealed right at the end, it's too late to make any difference.

Cant wait for more action.

This reminds me of an older anime called Iczelion...except that show had Nagisa and she was totally a shit character.

When she grabbed the telephone line i was expecting
the ol shock em with electricity attack, but she went for the useless choke instead!
. Madoka's style relies on improv attacks (like the suplex from ep.1, the telephone line, etc) so it should lead to a lot of great moments during mecha battles I think. Also,
breaking out into song during a mecha fight made me smile. Good stuff.
I enjoy the way the show makes light of the city getting destroyed and how the mecha are fighting as well. All of it combines for a pretty exciting atmosphere that makes the show a blast to watch.

Looks like Mugi is getting some spotlight next week, oh boy.

Well of course it doesn't do much to hook someone who's looking for ANIME MOE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN IN SPACE. You're looking at the show for something it's not, at least not yet. You need set-up, you need organic exposition. At this point, there are alot of variables and unknowns, and they keep mentioning those variables and unknowns. The character dynamics are also much more subtle and slow moving, and what's more is that I MUCH rather this to WHEN SUDDENLY, MARIKA IS THROWN INTO THE CAPTAIN'S SEAT AND GIVEN THE TITLE "THE DREAD PIRATE ROBERTS". This feels like a real set-up, and it gives you a genuine feel for the characters, the world, and the technology without needing to Jam it down your throat in a sudden whirlwind of technical jargon. I know it's disappointing that it's not Nadesico x10 CRAZY. Instead though, It's Nadesico x10 thought, and I much prefer it that way.

I think it's kind of interesting that the most heated discussions for this seasons crop of shows seem to revolve around Space Pirates. I suppose the other popular titles like Nisemonogatari, Rinne and Daily Lives of Higschool Boys are simply titles which serve to entertain only and thus engender no further discussion.

Then again, the only recent title that had subject matter meaty enough to warrant any kind of discussion (as opposed to a discussion based around a show's quality, or lack therefore) was Shiki because that show explored a variety of fairly extreme situations. It's a pity that we don't have many shows which are so ripe for discussion and debate.

I don't know; Mawaru Penguin Drum had a lot of discussion going on.

I would say a mecha body should work like a faraday cage.

And power line has no isolation so it sounds not like a good idea.

I'm always up for legit subject matter discussion, but a lot of what is said in here just amounts to why something is good or bad and isn't about the subject matter itself. Kind of hard to keep a discussion when someone says "this happens because it's badly written, lololol".

Hm? This show is funny. It seems really familiar without being anything I've seen before. I think the next episode will show it's true colors and whether or not it will be able to stand on it's own, as it appears that
there wont be any mecha-ing going on from the preview. I'm kind of excited to see the show mature a bit more, because Madoka isn't a normal novice mecha pilot and as soon as she understands that they don't breathe, she'll be pretty great!

Yuri no Lagrange:

It's funny, because from my experience at least, all of those yuri mecha shows this season feel like they took the typical shounen mecha formula and then swapped the male lead for a female lead just to make it different.

Heck, if they just took IS and made Ichika a girl, you'd have one of these shows. Instead of a harem vying for penis, it'd be a bunch of girls trying to be female-Ichika's "best friend" or something.

Strangely enough, all of this faux-yuri makes me curious about Tiger and Bunny how the yaoi in that series is presented. I want to believe that all this yuri robot action is a response to the success of the yaoi in T&B, but I suppose more realistically, it's a combination of trying to outdo the yuri subtext (or just text) in Madoka and hitting the male robot fanboy demographic.

Also, anyone want to do Yuri Rankings for the big shows? Duckroll claims that BRS is the most yuri of them all, but until that airs, I figure it's Symphogear > Rinne > Pirates.

I thought it was a good comedy. It had a good supportive cast that appears that helps in the comedy.

I quite enjoyed it since it moved away from the silly premise and became a decent show to watch.

It has Yuu Kobayashi, so yes.

(It is essentially the one joke, so if you don't find that funny, then probably not.)

Maybe I'll give it another shot. I remember it airing during a time where I was pretty damn cynical about everything coming out.

So what is this I'm hearing about the HxH Remake? Did it become good?
Its a mixed bag imo, it starts out pretty damn weak but is slowly growing on me. The latest episode was excellent, its the point in the Hunter test where they're running around the island hunting each other for badges and Hisoka is showing off how much of an awesome creepy anti-hero he is.

Old news for everyone in this thread I’m sure but Redline was recently released on Blu-Ray in the United States. I’d never seen it before and had heard a bunch of good things about it so I bought it day one. Watched it the other day and it was fucking amazing. Awesome animation, an excellent English dub, and an amazing soundtrack. One of the best anime movies I’ve ever seen.

I greatly enjoyed the movie. It's the kind of thing that made me fall for anime in the first place. ^^;

Nisemonogatari ep 3

Tsubasa is the alpha female in this show.
Even Hitagi bows down to her
Nadeko is awesome jailbait.

Rinne no Lagrange 03

This is such an awesome show. I feel nothing but fun and happiness when I watch it, and it's been hitting things right to get me interested in it right away.

Woah

Woah

You should probably just put Macross 7 on hold while you watch through SDF Macross.
Alright, i'll listen to the both of you and put it on hold.

Well I remember thinking it was many things, but sexist wasn't one of them. At least not that I remember... :/
Yeah, because her sexuality was a form of objectification instead of agency. I think that's bullshit, but this is so 2 years ago!

Oh, is that it? Makes sense. I thought maybe there was something in the water this season.
That has to be it! I just wonder if they'll all fail because the yuri fanboy market will be spread too thin and we'll go back to generic male hero power fantasies in a couple of seasons.

Very true!

Ghiblies Ep.01

I wish it did more breakdowns of the animation process like it does in it's first sequence (Pig with no mouth and how it is made to talk). Besides that it's an interesting pet project littered with inside jokes that you don't get but can still laugh at.

Nise 3

More like this please. That exchange with Kaiku was whoa. Also, Kanbaru nominating Sengoku as Araragi's final boss cracked me up almost as badly as Senjougahara's read on Araragi's steadily growing popularity with women and her response to it.

Gotta admit though, I'm really interested in what Hanekawa's got going on that it makes Senjou fluster as much as she did in the last scene. Shit's gonna get real.

Nise 3:

Alright, I was sceptical, then suddenly Akira. Series redeemed.

I remember being annoyed that people thought it was sexist. lol

I remember something similar happening to me in a discussion about that to, but it was along the lines of "if Yamada were male" my view on her character being annoyingly monotonus in wanting to jump on the guy's crotch would have been different.

The fact that it was a girl who wanted to have sex was essentially the novel thing about the show.
Funny enough, I remember that it came either before or after Chu Bra, and having similar debates about that show.

Rinne no Lagrange 3

I must say I'm really enjoying the light-hearted tone of the show and hope they stick with it throughout, but the stuff with the chairs is really giving me Bokurano vibes so they'll probably start
introducing the more morbid undertones that have been hinted at during the next couple of eps.
. I still can't get enough of the OP. Maru!

So what is this I'm hearing about the HxH Remake? Did it become good?
Ehh, I'm not really into it all that much but they recently did the scene where Hisoka loses hit shit during the fourth exam.

School Days 9

Fuck you Makoto.
lol
