Yeah, Newt was in the ropes there. Mitt just does not know how to land any punches. He was saying good, well-reasoned things, but he cannot articulate like Newt

They just showed a picture of Obama in the audience...

I like how Mitt turned Newt's "I was lobbying for the "People"" Pious Baloney right back to "oh no Newt, you were lobbying for the drug companies".

Mitt is coming off looking real bad here.

I'd say the opposite. Mitt is able to argue his points very easily and is having no trouble destroying Newt's self-defenses. It especially looked bad for Newt when his only response to Freddie Mac is "Well how much did you make at Bain?" and Romney quickly had a clear response to that.

Mitt got a few good jabs in there.

Newt almost turned it around on him by bringing up Bain's revenues but Mitt deflected it by calling it jokingly "substantial" then moving on.

Newt needs to compose himself and get back on the offensive.

Brian Williams made a great joke about letting the other 2 candidates participate.

You guys saying Mitt can't land blows are crazy. Mitt got Newt to basically admit he was a lobbyist and poorly explain it as "public advocacy". I'll be surprised if Newts poll numbers survive this.

Why are the anti-Romney SuperPACs too afraid to go after Romney's Mormonism?

Do Christians in the US even know what Mormons believe?

Oh god, for anyone who thinks Newt can stand up to Obama in debate - this debate should prove otherwise.

If Mitt with his bland attacks can make Newt almost self-combust, imagine what Obama will do to Newt in a debate.
