The pacing did feel off, wiki tells me that there were 8 books. Too much content to push into a 2 hr movie but it was done well for what it was I guess.
Yep. You just sort of have to assume time passes... so there's just a load of development crammed into what feels like a breakneck pace. What I don't get is why this couldn't get an animu series when so many other things get adapted all the time.

Get ready for the true heroine's debut.
Asuka > all

They didn't merge anything except for character introductions and the overarching plot. The story with Hirano's character spanned the whole series. It was always in the background while they had various other adventures (that coincidentally the plot coincided with the topic book!).

Where they failed, I feel, is in developing the relationship between Tohko and Inoue. Crazy bitch should not have been on equal footing with Tohko.

NGE 8

Awesome episode! Kaji is awesome so far, HE BETTER NOT HURT MISATO >:[

Adam, lolwut where the hell did that even come from?

One more for tonight then I gotta sleep.

I watched the third episode of Pirates, so it's basically a slice of life high school show about a space ship club? I read the show is a light novel adaptation, so what will we get with the later episodes? At the moment I would say the show is boring, although I like the main character.

What I think is weird is that Marika doesn't necessarily have any redeeming qualities, and is more defined by everyone around her.

NGE 9

Shinji is a weird guy.
lol at him trying to kiss Asuka but she at least has a chip in her armor now. She complains so fucking much, it's annoying.

Too bad everyone around her has no personality either.

The third episode just confused me. I don't get what they're going for. The attention to detail is put at the forefront and it is painfully meticulous, but then when anything complicated is going on, like the space walking scene, they kind of throw their pretend realism out of the window. And it's not to do something crazy or "bodacious", it's to walk on the side of the ship and pull on things. Like, why does every scene in this show exist? They never provide any insight into characters thoughts or motives, or push the plot forward in any way.

I got around to listening to the ANNcast Winter Preview and was ready to laugh because I heard they liked it, but it was when I found out they unanimously considered it the best show of the season I was kind of in hysterics.

At this point I am expecting Not-Very-Bodacious Space Not-Pirates to either completely flop or completely turn awesome with an epic story with a huge interstellar war for the future of the galaxy. There is no in-between now, it's going to be one or the other!

It's already flopping, so the likelihood they'll completely turn around things is pretty low.

How annoying is the gravity in this show, by the way. There are tons of scenes where it only seems to apply to specific objects or people, and people need no point of propulsion to move in zero gravity environments. Some parts of the ship have complete gravity, others low gravity, and others no gravity. How do you mess this stuff up so bad in a space show?

What constitutes cute eyebrows?

[Ano Natsu ep. 03]

"Ufufufu..."

Lemon-chan is like the best character in the show.

[Guilty Crown ep. 13]

The courage to make an anime without a coherent plot.

[Highschool DxD ep. 03]

Boobs shooting lasers. Boobs.shooting.lasers.
Now I have seen everything.

Fanservice for the sake of fanservice. The ED is wasted on this show.

[Zero no Tsukaima F ep. 03]

Mid-boss defeated so we can go back to the usual hijinks.

[Persona 4 ep. 15]

Yu Narukami - The suave pimp. A true story.

Straight up pimping.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 2

Misato in early running for waifu <3

Geez, what the fuck are Evas? Some kind of people robots?

You've chosen... wisely. :3

Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki 1-6

Oh man, where to begin? The characters, the setting, the hijinx, everything about this has just been fun. Ryoko is a riot, Ayeka is a bitch, Sasami is moe, Mihoshi is retarded and Tenchi is Tenchi. The technology on display is certainly very unique and I find most of the various ship designs to be a sight to behold. Just don't try to explain to me how is it that a rabbit manages to transform into a spaceship because I don't think my feeble mind would be able to handle that.

The one fault I can sort of see is that the frenetic pacing forces things forward way too fast at times and it's easy to be left wondering just exactly how or why things are happening at some points. Still, the show is so entertaining and it manages to handle itself so well that most of that ends up being easy to overlook as a result.

Man, I'm feeling very nostalgic of traditional cel animation of late.

The Tenchi Muyo OVA is one of my all-time favorites. Ryoko is super awesome and fun to watch! ^_^

LOL! XD

Now and Then, Here and There 11

"Why does it feel so
bad?
?"

Now and Then, Here and There 12

You know, with the Matrix cast not being involved here you'd think this would be more effective, but alas, the show has already made me fully aware it likes contrivance and it didn't stop here.

I don't really watch anime but I feel like I have to post this here now.
I just finished watching Gurren Lagann after coming across it on Netflix a week or two ago and deciding to give it a shot since I remember hearing memes and quotes from it all over the place a few years back.

Holy shit that was one of the best series I've ever watched.
